Q: I have a Chineese Dirt bike that has been run for only 2 hours and the wiring harness is burned up. Is it possible to take a wiring harness off an atv and put it on the dirt bike?
no you can not do that. this is the reason i tell people out here to not buy motorcycles or scooters that are made in china. the only thing you can do is go back to where you bought the bike and see if you can buy a new wiring harness. that's the only way you are going to fix it.
Q: I have a 2006 subaru impreza. About a year ago, the headlight burnt out. I went to replace it and realized that it wasn't the headlight. It was the wiring harness/socket that had burnt up. So, I replaced it with a new harness. I used good waterproof connectors and all was well. This weekend, the light burnt out again. Once again, the bulb was fine. The harness was burnt up. Why is it doing this? Is there an easy way to fix it? I'm getting worried because I'm running our of slack wire to keep doing this.
Turns out it's a pretty common problem. Some companies have come out with replacement harnesses with ceramic connectors so they won't melt. Go to this link and scroll down to the area that talks about replacement headlight connectors
Q: I have a 1988 mustang gt and it got struck by lightning which fried most of the wiring in my car. Ive looked all over the internet cant find anything bout a new wiring harness or where I can get a new one thats vehicle specific. any help?
junkyard.
Q: I want to install a TBI v8 into my 85 Carbureated s10, and I wanted to know if the fuel pump has a wire lead from the engine computer wiring harness to power the fuel pump. I want to keep the fuel system as factory as possible. I will probably get the wiring harness from a later TBI blazer, and just wanted to know about the fuel pump.
first yes there is a wire , second do you have any Idea what you are about to get into ? do you realize you need the whole wiring harness ECM fuellines pump, allso make sure all the above came from the same Source if you a buying these parts from a Salvage yard make sure they gentely unplug eveything not cut or yank the harness Good luck !
Q: I have a 2003 trailblazer ls and im trying to get a wire harness to put a after market radio but there is another wire. And I looked it up and it said its a OnStar. Is that really important to have? Can I just leave it unplug or what? I don't really understand why that other wire is there.
If you were using Onstar, you'd know it, so the wire isn't important.
Q: i have a mercury mystique gs wiring harness and i need to replace it so i was thinking why not copy the same layout as the old one i found one at junk yard thats fairly good shape i mean it doesnt work but i can copy it to make a new one so im wondering if anybody can direct me to how i can make one that looks and works exactly the same as a brand new wiring harness see if i had the option to buy a new one i would but they dont sell them anymore so im kinda stuck at this difficult decision
The hard part will be finding all the special connectors. Then it boils down to making sure that you match the pins at both ends. You will have to use your own color coding or also do a lot of research to find the right colored wires. A soldering pencil that works on resistance is a handy tool, but a gun with a sharp point will do or a pencil iron. It is more work then I would want to do, but considering the cost of a replacement that is custom made it will be much cheaper. Some items are not in the system by the way and are what are called depot parts, which means that they are maybe a month away. A lot of parts persons don't know how to find obsolete parts, so maybe try a different dealer who as a real parts-man who can find what you want.
Q: I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. It has a regular factory cd stereo and I want to install a new aftermarket stereo. I have found the wiring harness, but it cost at least $60. Can I bypass the harnesses' and wire direct. I also found a wiring diagram for my stereo to make sure I get the wires right. Oh and will I void any warranties by doing this? Thanks for any info
Check the harness. Does it have some type of resistor or electrical component to alter any speaker resistance or input voltage. If it does not have any electrical component, it means the harness is just an easy quick connect solution. You do not need to buy the harness if you know which wire is connecting to what. Will you void any warranty? Only on the audio system. However, if you do not abuse the stereo, i.e. maximizing volume and brake the speakers, you do not need to be concerned about the warranty. Good luck!
Q: and if i could cana i just connect the wires togethers and put elec tap around it
yeah, you can do it that way, not as good of a connection but as long as you make sure you get all of the right wires together, i have done it, but the colors are different for every make of car.
Q: I want to put 9006 6000K HID Kit I can install it myself I just don't understand the whole 55 Watts and 100 Watts thing.I need to know if my car can handle the HIDs without the Wire harness and relay. According to what I have heard the Wire harness and Relay are used if there isn't enough power to fire up the HID ballasts. If there is not enough power the Ballasts begin to fail. Do I need the Wire Harness and Relay for my 96 Honda Accord?
Sounds like someone's trying to sell you stuff you don't need. I had mine installed (can't do anything that technical myself), and whatever I gave them, is what they used. For sure no additional wire harness, aside from what was in the kit.
Q: Hey there I was putting all the wires together and I ran into a couple of issues. The wires I have left from the Toyota harness end is Blue- Power AntennaBlack- Chassis Ground. (With this one I used a bypass system, and I was wondering if I need to connect this one to the body or can it just capped off? From the radios end I have a couple other wires sticking out. Violet/white- Of the two lead wires connected to the back lamp, connect the one in which the voltage changes when the gear shift is in reverse position. lt;--- I do not understand where to connect this. If someone could go into detail that would be great! even pictures :DYellow/black- If you use an equipment with mute function, wire this lead to the Audio Mute lead on that equipment. If not, keep the audio mute lead free of any connections. lt;--- do I just cap this one?The rest was easy thanks for the help!!!
