Q: And would a water pump off any 302/5.0 fit the 1985 F-150 302/5.0 whether it was from a Mustang ,or Crown Victoria
probably okorder , look up each vehicle , check part numbers on waterpump. for all the labor involved, i would get a new one, can't be all that much $$ . changing coolant every 24 months, or so is the key to waterpumps that last forever. fresh clean antifreeze keeps waterpump properly lubricated, dirty antifreeze will wear out bearing very quickly.
Q: I just bought a house and we have well water. When I went out to change the filter on the pump I noticed a valve leaking...I went to check on it and noticed it had two settings if you will. one says System and the other says by pass if I move the lever to system the leak stops, if I move it back to bypass the leak continues...question is which one should I have it set on and what is the purpose?
Okay, Adam, we also have a well and just put in a new one. The setting that says System means that the water is running through the filter. The setting that says by pass means that the water is NOT running through the filter. You will have water either way in your house (or you should). It is just either, it is running through the filter, or it is not. I hope I have helped. gram
Q: Hi, what is the difference between an Air pump and a Water pump. What are the functions of each? Does a tank filter come with an air pump? Is an Air pump or Water pump required?
Air Pump For Water
Q: I have a 1998 pontiac grand prix yesterday I started leaking anti-freeze so we ( me, dad, bf) checked and came up w/ h2o pump, all the classic signs. so $51 latter started her up and wouldnt you know the same thing. anyone have any tips????
<Need a little more info. First, you say classic signs. Does that mean the leak was seen coming directly from the water pump? Through the hub or around the edges? When you replaced the pump, did you THOROUGHLY remove the old gasket and clean the pump seat completely? Use a new gasket? Is it leaking in the exact same way? Those are the main points for stopping a water pump leak. Otherwise, it might be hoses, a crack in the pump seat, a leaking head gasket or thermostat housing gasket. But, if you're sure it was the pump itself, take it back off, re-clean the seat and try a new gasket.
Q: What is the water pump population pre rotation, what harm?
Is the entrance of water flow in the formation of complex turbulent flow, flow direction, shock, vibration, easy to damage the front entrance device, such as vane impeller, shaft sleeve, sealing element.
Q: Which is the better option for a home water pump? a submersible pump or floor based pump?
In case of pump failure, it's much easier to repair/replace a floor based pump plumbed with isolation valves and unions. I've replaced a few due to motor failures and flood damage. Arguably, the submersible pump wouldn't have suffered damage due to flooding. Another consideration is vertical pump height. A floor based pump has to draw a vacuum to induce water to flow up to the impeller. This limits the practical draw to between 25 and 30 ft. Much more than that height and the vacuum will exceed the vapor pressure of the the water, boiling it rather than pumping it. A special device can be used to boost the lift: an ejector is placed down the well. Water is pumped down to the ejector, which pulls additional water back up using the venturi effect. This method suffers from additional friction losses but has clear advantages. If you need to pump water up a well more than 20 feet vertical, you should consider a submersible pump, particularly if you are concerned about the possibility of the water table lowering.
Q: My car broke down yesterday and is waiting to be towed to the mechanic (2000 Dodge Neon). I'm pretty sure the Timing Belt broke, but my water pump was broken in the process and leaked out lots of water. Would the timing belt break the water pump when it snapped? Or does the broken water pump lead us to a different conclusion? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Also I was reading online today about interference engines, but couldn't find a list to verify if I have one of those or not. Anyone know? Thanks!
there is a possibility the belt wrapped around the pump and damaged it ,but i think the pump went and the timing belt went after that.never the less both will have to be replaced
Q: hooking up a water pump to my tank and need a power supply
can you be a bit more descriptive have you a pump but no way of powering it if so what type of pump what voltage where is pump
Q: I have gotten oil in my coolant, and coolant in my oil..It might be the head gasket, no doubt, but many people said (online forums) that my bike, has issues with the seal that is separating oil pump from water pump. They go bad, and when they do, the oil mixes with coolant and vise versa. Now, I am seeking from professional help, on how to take out both of the pumps, without messing up timing, and also without messing up anything else. I have removed the entire exhaust system, dropped the oil pan, and i can see the oil/water pump pretty good. What i do not know is how to remove it properly. Any help is help, I have searched and searched on google and forums on how to perform this task, but couldnt find any specific help on how to remove the pump. Thank you!!!!!
Take pictures make notes if you don't have a manual.
Q: the water pump from the factory has an extra hole coming out the side its the smaller one on the end of this pic.
I would be a little hesitant on using an automotive water pump on a boat. The may seem similar however there are several key differences in the way they are made. excerpt from the below URL: In regard to the cooling systems, one of the major differences is found in the water-circulating pump. This is especially noticeable when you have a raw water cooled engine. Unlike their automotive counterpart, a marine pump works in an open cooling system. This type of system is extremely corrosive to the pump. Therefore, the pump must be altered for longevity. A marine pump has a special ceramic seal, stainless steel backing plate, and a bronze impeller to resist corrosion. An automotive style pump, with its stamped steel impeller, would fail due to corrosion in a short time. I have done this before, I boat in fresh water and my boat was raw water cooled, the pump was leaking after 2 seasons, wasn't worth the savings. The extra hole may have been for an optional closed loop cooling system on the boat or like was stated a heater or bypass line in a car.
