- Q:Hi, I own a 2004 chev. venture and the water pump is getting noisy (most likely the bearings) I priced a refurbished one online at $18 and am wandering if this is a task I could handle myself, or if I'd most likely screw it up
- I don't work on cars, but my dad does. It seems like a water pump would be just as easy to replace as an alternator. Remove, replace, reattach hoses and/or belts. Get one of the repair manuals for your car from the auto store; that will walk you through it.
- Q:have a leak in water pump and need to replace. It is easy or very hard
- the basic garage man can replace it but becareful the timing belt runs the water pump on the car so good luck on that
- Q:I just replaced my starter on my mustang and i when i took it out for a test drive i noticed the engine temperature rising. i drove for maybe 2 minutes max and when i parked the car it had a small amount of white smoke coming out of the engine so i let it cool down, and when it cooled down i checked the radiator, it had absolutely no anti-freeze, which is weird because i had just put a gallon of 50-50 anti-freeze maybe a week ago. So to test it i put 3 cups of water in the radiator turned her on and water was spilling from the water pump. So me and my dad have concluded we have to replace the water pump. I called up Autozone and they have a water pump replacement kit for $70. We don't have money too pay for the labor so can some1 please give me a step by step guide to replacing the water pump.
- Drain the engine cooling system. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Loosen water pump pulley bolts. Remove the accessory drive belt. Remove the water pump pulley. Remove the upper and lower radiator hose. Remove the heater hose. Remove the 12 attaching bolt and remove the water pump. Clean and inspect gasket mating surfaces. To install: Install the water pump. Use a new gasket and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Install the heater hose. Install the upper and lower radiator hose. Install the water pump pulley. Install the accessory drive belt. Install water pump pulley bolts. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Fill the cooling system. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
- Q:My timing belt is worn but has not broken yet. The mechanic first told me it would be about $200-250 to replace the belt. Then he called back and said it was going to be $550 because on an Aveo you have to replace the water pump at the same time. I asked if it was possible to do just the belt and he said quot;well the water pump will probably break when we take it outquot;. Is this a sign that I should just break down and go to a dealership so that my water pump won't quot;breakupon removal?
- For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axDjQ OK here you go. I have loads of experience with Subaru. Your technician is doing his job in making the offer to do the water and oil pump while doing the timing belt. He is right in saying as long as he is there it would save you lots of labor if it were necessary to replace them later. However, replacing them as regular preventative maintenance is not recommended. I say that with a small caveat, depending on how many miles are on the car, the water pump might not be a bad idea if you have 100k plus. A good inspection of the oil pump is strongly recommended. the Subaru oil pumps on that engine did tend to leak at the rear seal to the oil pump. This actually can be repaird as a small reseal and overhaul of the pump though and not require replacement. Subaru had enough of these that they packaged a reseal kit for them. Good luck and good driving. thewisetuner
- Q:4--6 inch deep well pump head? How much per hour out of water?.
- General agricultural pump 4-6 inches of lift at about 20 meters, the economic output of water is 140-200 cubic meters per hour
- Q:n my water pump hoses feels like theres no pressure
- well before you go through a task like that have u checked for opther options? check it out- First: make sure that your radiator is in good condition, check the belts, the hoses and the coolant level. Make sure that there is no coolant leaks. Check the condition of the shroud for cracks its proper installation. Car fluid or coolant circuit element just changed: Your overheating is probably due to air trapped into the coolant circuit. Use the bleed screw to bleed the circuit. Then bleed again, again, again and again. Nothing had been changed, car is overheating while idling or heavy traffic: 1. Check that the thermostat works and opens. 2. Check the fan clutch. Car overheating while driving. Not stop and go. 1. Bleed the cooling circuit. 2. Check the thermostat. 3. Check the water pump. 4. On the 535i, check the bypass hose located and attached just above the upper hose neck on radiator and runs along the inner walls to the Resivior tank. If it is plugged, the car will overheat. Overheating with A/C on, or very high temperature only. 1. Check that the auxiliary fan is working properly(Bentley manual page 170-4). 2. Check the fan clutch.
- Q:and it still runs about every 1/2 hr even if you are not using water. I have no leaks from the pump thought the house so I think the problem is between the house and the well. I can't hear or see any leaks in the elbows in the well. I tried to pull the foot valve up but can't get it out. I replaced the pump cause it was worn out and it was running every 15 min. Do I need to set the pressure on the new one it cuts off at 42 and on at 20 psi and what else could cause it to run when it shouldn't? I know I should call a plumber, but haven't worked in months and can not afford one.
- Sounds like foot valve to me is not seating properly and you wouldn't hear the leak under water level guess your tank has enough air gap top of tank and water level if that is insufficient pump will also short cycle should have a valve stem with internal bladder inside of tank if it is similar to my old tank. Your pressure is same as my old one and it was fine.
- Q:I currently have a gould 1/3 horse jet water pump and a rusted pressure tank that I would like to replace. There are two bathrooms, both with showers, 2 bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink, as well as the washer. What horse power should I have for 5 faucets and what size pressure tank would be sufficient? The shower in the upstairs bathroom hardly has pressure at all with the current pump and pressure tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
- At least a 1/2 hp and a 80 gal tank
- Q:Is it ok to drive a car with a bad water pump?
- How do you know if it's bad? Either you've had it diagnosed as such and you know the engine will overheat, or you don't, in which case, try taking out the thermostat (and bolting back up). If the engine is slow to warm up - replace the thermostat.
- Q:Hello! Can someone please tell me where the water pump is located on this vehicle? Or where I might find the answer to this question? Thanks!
- water pump is located on pass side of the motor right where serpentine belt is
