- Q: I drive a 1995 Acura integra ls model I'm mechanically inclined just not enough to do a headgasket (more patience wise) my car loses coolant once in every 3 weeks it starts to over heat. I don't have white smoke coming out of the exhaust or milky oil. Everything else runs smooth on my car. I've head it pressure tested and every thing else checks out so I'm kind of lost. All hoses are fine and not leaking and there is no coolant leaks showing up on the ground. Any ideas?
- head gasket sealant interior the truck so there replace right into a head gasket concern from the get pass? putting that crap in it replace right into a band-aide. and now you're caught with the subject. it incredibly is uncertain at this factor climate gasket sealant additive replace into used to tackle a leaking chamber or in the event that they have been given fooled by a a danger intake gasket concern. do no longer comprehend the unique indicators that triggered that undesirable selection. sorry! i might say that sealant crap ultimately passed on to the great beyond. no person ever would desire to have positioned that stuff in there interior the 1st place. would desire to have dealt with the subject somewhat of using a band-aide in a bottle that motives greater issues that it *tries* to unravel. i pass to get a combustion leak tester later, yet i'm basically questioning. so which you're taking this to a great ASE keep for analysis? i'm going to enable them to interrupt the undesirable information to you.
- Q: Okay so earlier, I went to go test out my water pump and all on my 66 mustang 302. And I got it up to normal operating temp, and had the rad cap off. I gave it some gas, the coolant level didn't go down, instead it came out the rad pretty badly. I've been having overheating problems, and I have no leaks, i just replaced the thermostat a few days ago, it didn't help. I haven't seen any leaks around the weep hole on the water pump, or noises. Other than a belt that does need to be tightened a bit, you can hear the belt squeling a tiny bit. So do yall think it could be my water pump?
- ok so the termostat replace no leaks and its overheating check the fan hub is it ok if yes then replace the radiator i dont think your head gaskets are blown because water came up when temp was hot an you reved up the engine however if water had came out when water was cold or warm the i say the head gaskets were blown hope this helps

- Q: My father in law has a 95 jeep grand cherokee with the v~8 engine, the water pump started leaking so we went to autozone and bought a brand new duralast one with new gaskets, I'm gonna be putting it in when the weather lets me since i have to do it out on the street in front of the house, i was just wondering if anyone on here had any tips for me since i have never done one, I'm not a mechanic but i work on all my own vehicles since i am too poor to take them to a shop, i know a lot more about cars than he does so he asked me to help, it didn't look to hard but i'm not quite sure what im getting myself into, any advice or tips about this job is greatly appreciated. And please don't post telling me to take it to a mechanic as this is not a option for us, i will get it done i just thought somebody could help make it go a lil smoother with some pointers... Thanks
- make sure the when ya take the old one off that ya clean the surface real good where it bolts on. razor blade to take off any old gasket ect. some fine sandpaper to sand it down smooth for the new gasket helps to,just dont gouge it.use some of that red silicone in a tube, can get it at any auto parts, smear both sides of the gasket, the engine , and the water pump. let it cure out till its almost dry. bolt the new one on but when ya tightening it down do the bottom bolts first then the top bolts. add the antifreeze and check for leaks .good luck
- Q: we live in the country in the warm months and have a portable pump that takes water from a 15 foot deep well. It feeds water to a toilet and a hot water tank mostly and a sink and shower and washer. We put the pump outside the bathroom and need to know how to start it, thanks!
- There are so many different kinds, brands, types of pumps available for the purpose you're stating that it's not even funny, but for the purposes of this forum we will have to assume that it's a standard shallow well jet pump that draws water up from the ground and pushes it out the other side of the pump. Just in case you've never heard of the FOOT valve, it's what we've always called a check valve. It goes in the line coming up from the ground to stop the flow of water going back down the pipe once it's up and past the valve. That's what makes the pump keep it's prime, which is what you're actually asking, how to prime a pump. You'll need to open a pipe going into the top of the pump and pour enough water into it to make sure it's got plenty in the front casing. The pump shouldn't run dry. Once you're sure there's water in the casing then plug in or turn on the pump motor and continue to pour water into the pipe till it starts squirting out the top profusely. Then you can cap up the pipe and it should pump. If need be you can repeat till it catches.
- Q: I have a 1.5 horse Power Hit and Miss engine? Is it possible to buy a water pump I could run off of the hit and miss engine that would pump water from a river over a big hill and little ways and into a water tank or is this just a waste of time. How much water could I pump at a time? A trickle or a gush of water? When I say hill I don't mean like a little hill in your yard I mean a hill you have to hike up? If you don't know are there any resources I could access? Where could I buy such a pump if there is one?
- A horse and a half won't do much. You would be better off with a hydraulic ram type pump if you can get about a 10 or 15 foot fall before the ram. It will pump about 4 or 5 times the height of the fall, but in small quantities. It will run 24/7 without gasoline, so it will fill a tank over a long period of time. The railroads used them during the steam era when they had huge water towers out on the plains.

- Q: We have 2 1995 E320's that are heating up way too high when running. One has been diagnosed at the repair shop for a malfunctioning fan clutch. They also said that as the car was running hot the water pump and thermostat should also be replaced (??) The water pump is 5.5 hours of labor and I cannot afford it right now. I was wondering how hard to replace it myself. Thanks
- I have a 94 E320 in the shop right now with the same issue , running hot but not overheating and i wouldn't even consider replacing the water pump cause i have found the fan clutch not engaging at all . and you need a second opinion . is it possible for a water pump to cause this issue ....yes....is it likely.....NO if the fan clutch is engaging and the car still runs hot but does not overheat the thermostat is most likely not opening completely (sticking) and not allowing proper coolant flow . or you may have an inaccurate CTS .(coolant temp sensor) either way find a place who can properly diagnose your car . i hope this helps you
