Q:will a water pump that has gone out in a car make water come out the radiater: yes it,s overheating the water pump needs to pump the water away from where the engine needs cooling the most or if it stays there it will heat quickly and boil and create bubbles like when your cooking water in a pot this causes the pressure to increase and forces the water run out the radiator by now you could also have a blown head gasket and that can also force water out the radiator,are the water and oil showing any major pollution as in water in the oil or vice verse.

Q:First I need to take off the belt, remove power steering pump, remove water pump bolts (the bolts are various length), remove water pump pulley (from old pump), install pulley on new pump, install new pump (with gasket and bolts in the right holes), install power steering pump, install belt. Q:I got a water pump replaced a few month back, ( i own a 95 Honda civic) i have a wierd muffled rattle coming from that part of my car, i was told by a mechanic that it sounds like a bearing is dried out, he says that it wont affect the water pump itself but the ratlle will remain ... is this true . . .: A 'dried' bearing is sure to fail. Bearings without lubricant don't last long. I'm having trouble with my new waterpump. Bought it from AutoZone and it's already squeeling after 6 months. Q:i have a 1993 chevy cavalier z24 3.1 what all do i need to do to get the water pump off and replace it: I believe if you are looking at the motor the water pump will be to your left on top of the motor and to the front. Drain the radiator. There is a big smooth pulley that turns the water pump loosen the 4 10mm bolts, remove the belt the remove the bolts. Under the pulley there will be 5 or 6 8mm bolts remove those, make sure a drain pan is under the pump because there will be some residual coolant in the motor. Scrape the old gasket off of the engine block then reverse the procedures to install the new pump. Make sure you torque the pump to the proper specs so that the pump housing does not distort. You can pick up a Chiltons manual for that car a local parts store that can walk you through this in greater detail with pictures. Good Luck

Q:It stops and every few minutes and when it stops, it sounds like water is running.: A car will not shut off and not start again if the water pump has leaked and the engine over heats to the point of seizing. But if the pump has just started leaking then know the engine stall. As for the park issue again not related.

Q:How can I be sure the water pump is the problem before spending $ on repairs. 97 civic overheating.?: Simple overheating is rarely the water pump. In most cases water pump failure means either a leak, which is visible as dripping from a weep hole under the car near the timing belt cover, or as a seized shaft, which would mean the engine would quit running immediately and probably be seriously damaged by failure of the timing belt that powers the water pump. Having got past that, consider the conditions of the overheating. If you are losing coolant, start with that. Verify the loss is not because of a head gasket by the simple test: with the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. Start the engine and place the palm of your hand over the radiator neck where the cap came off, and pinch closed the hose to the reservoir. If you feel steadily rising pressure within 3-5 seconds (if the idle is surging, ignore those changes) that is bad news for the head gasket. Otherwise move on. Look for leaks at the end of every hose by feeling with a clean paper towel on your hand, and look for whitish streaks around the top and bottom of the radiator. If coolant is not disappearing, the overheating must occur when in slow traffic or idling, or on the highway, or all the time. If it is when going slow or idling you probably won't see the fan running when it is hot. If it is on the highway, or if it gets hot and stays hot all the time, the radiator is probably plugged with hard water deposits from using tap water to dilute the antifreeze.

Q:The water hose hooks from the radiator to the water pump. Does an o-ring go in it? What else could be causing it to leak?: it is either a loose clamp or a bad hose

Q:Which is the better option for a home water pump? a submersible pump or floor based pump?: last week i got a price on a above ground pump it pumps water up from 100 ft. it sure beats pulling 100ft of caseing every few years

I need a temporary fix for the water pump, so that I can take it to the repair shop that is 10 min. away.: fill the radiator and reservoir tank completely and leave the cap loose on the first click so the system doesn't build pressure drive to shop when least amount of traffic and weather is cooler
