- Q:I posted this earlier but nobody really answered my question . if my water pump is clearly on the serpentine belt I t need to replace the timing chain to get to it correct? The bolts holding the pump in are around it near the timing chain cover but they don't look like they are inside it. the pump is clearly driven by the serpentine so should I be fine not removing my timing belt to fix the pump? its leaking. Also I know you should replace the timing chain+tensioner but I inspected the chain 400 miles ago its properly tensioned the belt is in good condition its a chain it will last the life of the car its not the cheap belts.
- If you can change the pump without removing the timing belt then go for it, you are lucky. I don't replace the tensioner unless it needs to be replaced, usually they last a long time. I replace the timing belts every 60,000 miles, but usually you can go to 80,000 maximum but I don't like to take it to the last minute, not safe.
- Q:im attaching a motor from another filter onto my homemade filter. but i dont want to have to run a cord all the way from the pond to a powerplug. does anyone know of another way to such water into a filter without using electricity? some kind of siphon?
- 1. I had an electrician put a buried cable in the ground coming up to a weatherproof post with outlets and an on-off switch. It was not as expensive as I thought it would be. 2. You can put the water pump and filters by the house or even inside and run buried water pipes out to the pond, or just put the pump inside and have the filter by the pond which would run by water pressure or gravity. 3. A windmill or solar panel. A siphon uses potential energy stored in the water to work. Once the water has dropped through the siphon, there is no more energy to draw from and the siphon stops. A windmill or solar panel could provide the power to lift the water back up and make the process continuous, or at least while it's windy or sunny. However when pricing these two options even though they would be very cool if you have the large yard to accommodate them, they turn out to cost much more than either 1. or 2. and have much higher maintenance costs associated with them. 4. If it's a very small pond, you can get a solar powered filter/fountain that looks like a floating plastic lily pad. My son had one of these, but it only worked on the sunniest of days, and lasted one summer before wearing out. If you add a large block of filter foam over the intake it may last a little longer. Rinse it out two or three times a week.
- Q:I live in a condo building -- 3 floors, 7 units. In our storage units (right below my unit) is a water pump that was hooked up with the intent of helping the water flow to the 3rd floor. Everytime the pump goes off, it rattles, then makes a loud noise when it kicks off. The developers created a drywall box that houses the pump, which is surrounded by isolation, but it doesn't seem like it helps the noise. The pump also rattles the pipes that connect directly to the pump.My question is -- is this rattling normal for a standard water pump? If so, is there anything I can do to help cut down on the noise? If this is rattling is not normal of the standard water pump, what would it cost to replace it with something decent?
- It sounds like the pump is not large enough for the job. I had a well like that and the dummy who replaced the pump put in a very small one. Even though it was in the ground it was noisy. I'll bet people on the 3rd floor have water pressure issues. Why don't you talk to them and get more info on this. I am assuming you are all under some type of association so you can present all of your info at a meeting.
- Q:Our CRN series pumps used in the 414V 480V 60Hz 60Hz power supply, what would be the effect? Is not the head can be reduced, there is no water pump and lift what voltage relationship?
- In the case of power, W=F*S. That is, the work done per unit time pump = the gravity of the water flow * the displacement of the waterIt can be seen that:1, the power is certain, the head and the flow is inversely proportional.2, the greater the power, the greater the product of the head and flow. Therefore, when the flow is minimum, the pump head is the maximum; when the head is the minimum, the flow is the maximum.
- Q:have a leak in water pump and need to replace. It is easy or very hard
- the basic garage man can replace it but becareful the timing belt runs the water pump on the car so good luck on that
- Q:How can I test to be sure my water pump is working before I go to the lake and burn up my motor. `72 65hp johnson. thank you.
- I use a cut down rain water barrel to drop the outboard leg into. Fill the barrel until water reaches the anti-cavitation fin or a bit higher, start engine and make sure water come from the small tell-tale at the back of the lower cover. If no flow- ensure tell-tale pipe is clear (use a bit of wire), If still no flow, don't risk using engine until pump checked. Do not run the engine without water as you will burn out the pump rotor very quickly.
- Q:i used my water fountain pump for the first time yesterday and I've had it for 10 years and i used it yesterday it worked with the water and everything was fine!then the next day i wanted to turn it on , it went on it started vibrating but it wasn't pumpingwhen i had it on the other day the water was dirty but it was workingi cleaned it the filtershould i put vinegar to clean it ?and what else should i do!??? Help :#92;thank you!
- Debris is probably blocking the impeller ,a wheel that spins inside the pump, and moves the water through, you might have to take it in for servicing to a repair shop,if you aren't mechanically inclined to do it yourself.leaf litter,or a twig can get inside the intake port and wedge itself in the wheel, and keep it from working ,try backflushing the pump, forcing water the opposite direction through, and see if this dislodges the blockage first, then if no luck, you'll have to dismantle it to get the blockage out Make sure you handle the pump carefully.if all else fails, you could try whacking it with a hammer, and see if that jolts it free.It is pretty old now,and may be just time to get a new one,10 years is a good life span for one of these pumps.
- Q:What are the parameters of the pump price?
- The first point: brand, manufacturers are generally different, the price difference is relatively large, the brand effect and quality of this. The second point: motor model and matching pump model, the general power is greater, the higher the price. The third point: special requirements, such as: to achieve a special lift, or special flow, special materials, special maintenance period, the rate of special accidents. The price is higher than the usual model.Basically, these are the pumps that determine the price of the pump. In fact, the same manufacturer, the power difference is not too large, there is no special requirements, the price is basically the same, the reason manufacturers do not the same price, is a marketing strategy, in fact, the cost is the same.
- Q:All of a sudden I have no water coming to the house/anywhere from the pump/well outside. It's a newer well, good water quantity (Florida...no dry up problems), no sand in water. I'm new to this house and don't know much about the pump stuff. Is there something I should look at or switch on/off. The breaker is ok. Help, I need a shower! :) Oh, there were about 15 ants around some box, but it didn't look connected to the pump...it's a box to the pool filter thing.
- And last but not least, is the submerged pump. This pump actually is down inside the well casing. Usually towards the bottom of the casing. If you have to pull it, it involves disconnecting the electrical and plumbing lines, and literally, pulling it up by the chain or pipe. It could be a few hundred feet down. If it comes to this, I'd suggest calling in a plumber or well technician. If you dont like the idea of running down this whole list, then call a plumber, or well technician, and let them chase it down. Good Luck
- Q:I had high-pitch noise coming from my engine; it was coming from the belt area. I change the belts but the noise is still happening. After doing some research, I noticed that the noise is coming from the Water pump bearings. I installed this water pump Last year and the warranty is expired on it. A friend told me that if a bearing goes bad on a Water pump, then I should flush the cooling system because it leaves metal shavings into the engine. Is this true? I already flushed my cooling system at the mechanic (he has a special machine) about 2 weeks ago. Is it necessary to do another flush because of bad Water Pump bearings?
- well they do go bad but not very offen.. and really no need to flush if your going to replace it .. nothing to worry over
