Q: I think my water pump is going bad but figure id ask everyone to see what they thought. I leak coolant like the first 20 min i drive my truck and then it will seal itself up for the next day or two then start leaking again. It is getting leaked all over the belt and the fan is spraying it all around so you cant tell where exactly its coming from but i checked all the hoses and they are good and im pretty sure its not the radiator. Also, when it is leaking there is a loud whining noise when my trucks on and i heard that can be from the pump too.
LOOK okorder on internet! WHAT SIZE IS ENGEIN HERE! FOur, five, six, eight yidner from WHAT COMPANY! NOBODY can answer thsi question for you without MORE DETAILS! THANX!
Q: can't get the pulleys to line up I know I have a mid 70's 400 and the water pump is later than 1969 but I can't find a pulley that works every one is about a half inch off I bought a aftermarket set of underdrive pulley's from march performance and still the same problem the water pump is a half inch off there was no long or short water pump right they are all the same lenght right??? The only difference I know of is that pre 1968 the pumps have a 8 bolt design and after they have a 11 bolt design is that right???
did you happen to loose the aluminum spacer between the water pump output shaft, and the fan pulley?
Q: Hello, i have a 1987 volkswagen cabriolet that i purchased earlier this year. So far its been a pain in the butt. Recently i noticed it overheats real quick, but it didnt use to. then i noticed the coolant/antifreeze was being used up like no other! I discovered, after being parked at work, that it was leaking.it leaks basically anything i put in there now!! it leaks from the water pump housing,.,.... at least thats what the internet said it was.. its leaking from the end of the hose that connects to the engine... (the hose that comes from the coolant reservoir.)What do i do? I dont feel any cracks? does this part crack? is it an o-ring or somehting? I am really absolutely NOTHING ABOUT CARS. Please help!!
Water pumps have a seal to hold the water from leaking out the spinning shaft, and the seal always wears out about every 100,000 miles. It is probably this seal that is bad, because it is probably the original pump, and you replace the whole pump. You have to take the front belt cover off and remove the timing belt, so it is not a trivial job. Cost about $300, and takes about 2 hours. But any friend who understands timing belts can do it easily. No special tools or tricks involved, other than making sure the cam timing is correct. Once you take the 3 bolts holding the water pump housing off, you can easily tell if any hoses or clamps should also be replaced. Do the thermostat while you have it off anyway. It is only $5.
Q: can a failing water pump sound like rattling or popcorn until the motor begins to over heat? the sound is nearthe waterpump. it goes away once the temp starts to overheat.the temp will get near redline then go down to normal and then start creeping up again. thanks for any replies.
I wouldn't do that one very often. It could be the impellers on your water pump (broken or seized)..in which case it will need replacing
Q: The at is a 2003 Toyota celica. And how much would it cost to get the water pump and timing belt replaced?
If you're in Canada it will cost nearly 2x as much as if you are in the USA because Canadians get hosed. I'm guestimating you're looking at about $300 for pump and maybe $800 timing belt give or take several hun. Labor mostly.
Q: If a person took a water pump and attached to a hose and ended up with (random numbers) 15 gpm and 30 psi at the end of the hose, what would happen if you put an exact same pump right next to it and hooked the two pumps together with a quot;Yfitting to a single hose? Would both the gpm and psi be doubled, or neither, or just one? What would happen?
GPM would double assuming you don't try to push more water through the hose than it can handle. Pressure you can control by squeezing down on the hose. They are related V1 * P1 = V2 * P2 V = volume P = Pressure
Q: i have little leak from water pump need to replace it in my mazda 6 2006 v6 3.0l. i have little over 120.000 miles on it. Any body know how much it may cost me?
I don't know why, but the water pump costs between $125 and $160. That seems a little high. It probably retails for $186. Under normal conditions, you just get things out of the way, unbolt the old pump, clean it up and put the new one in. The problem is the other stuff that gets in the way. I'm just estimating the job will take 5-8 hours. Just multiply times the labor rate in your area. Don't forget the anti-freeze when you're done.
Q: Went to bring my car in to get all my belts replaced (minus the timing belt) My car was working fine, nothing was wrong with it. I pick up my car and get it home when I turn to get into the drive way there's this horrible squeal. I bring it back to Pep Boys and they tell me my water pump is broke. Now I don't know anything about cars, but is there a belt that they replaced that does something to the water pump? Please if you know about cars let me know. Thanks
More than likely your water pump was about to go. If it has or had more than 50,000 miles on it, I wouldn't be suspicious of anything. Usually, the timing belt is right in there with the water pump and it is the most critical belt of them all. When you take your car back have them inspect it. A snapped timing belt can ruin your engine.
Q: I don't want to have to rent or purchase a electric pump to pump the water out of my pool so are there other ways to get the water out besides the obvious (a bucket and alot of people). I am really tight on money so purchasing a device to do the work isn't a real option but I really need to drain the pool without damaging it.
I have what is called a sump pump that I drain my pool with it works great. Ask a friend or relative if they might have an old one laying around. The sump pumps are generally used for pumping water out of basements when they flood but they work great in pools. I have 2, if you were near I would give you one
Q: I would like a website that has pictures but any info would be helpful...
Even if you put the auxiliary water pump on its still going to leak. The water will still circulate through it. All you need to do is buy a gasket and some silicone, spend a total of $50 and fix it.
