Q: My 2001 300M is behaving oddly. Occasionally it will gradually overheat after I have driven around for 15 or so minutes. Yes, occasionally. I took it to my mechanic who changed the thermostat and hoses. I then drove it on a trip on the interstate and over a mountain (140 miles ) It was fine with no signs of overheating. Then the next day when I drove to work in the city, the stop and go traffic had it overheating near the end of the trip. I've been able to keep it from going in the red by using the heater. After this happened most of the days, but not all, I took it back to the shop. He reported that the fans were working correctly and the only thing he could come up with is a weak water pump. He stated that when it did get hot, he was able to bring the temp down just by rev'ing the engine a little.Does that sound right? Any other ideas and how to test?
If he said the temp fell by revving the engine one of two things either the water pump is going out the bearing is failing and faster RPMS is pushing the water pump inside to spin faster and the bearing is starting to catch and work and spon the propeller OR the radiator is plugged or needs to be replaced. If the radiator is going bad it could be restricting water and more RPMS once again is pushing the water through the radiator to cool it. The other thing it could be is a radiator cap if it is not holding pressure then it will cause the water inside to boil slightly and make it hotter also. I would by a new cap and do the water pump. Those are the two cheapest. If that doesn't fix it then do a radiator.
Q: I've got a 1997 Ford Probe, taken it to a couple different places; whenever I drive my vehicle, it tends to want to overheat. I don't drive it to the point where it does though, I know that could cause more damage! I've noticed that when I go out to my car in the morning, there's some coolant on the ground by the front passenger's tire. Before I drive it I fill it with coolant, as to try to keep it from overheating while driving.I've been told that it's the water pump leaking from 2 people but then the last person said there's no leakage. I'm wondering if it might be something else? Maybe a thermostat, a hose, maybe? How would I figure this out???
Power wash the engine bay. THen drive the car over a quicky lube pit and pay the attendant $5 to examine the car from underneath. He should be able to tell. Is this the 3.0 liter engine?? Use only genuine Ford coolant in it! Also, power wash the space between the radiator and the A/C condenser
Q: I was wondering if water pumps make any noise when they are submersed? Also, my pond is quite small and I don't want to scare my fish with a noisy pump. Thank you!
It has been years since I had a pond. It was a freestanding pool with a fountain in it. I don't recall any noise from the submersible pump, only the sound of the splashing water. I doubt this type of pump has become noisier over the years. Below is a link to a site with many helpful articles about ponds, pumps, and systems.
Q: The at is a 2003 Toyota celica. And how much would it cost to get the water pump and timing belt replaced?
the cost of the pump, which will variety finding on your motor vehicle make. Any small block chevy is approximately 30 greenbacks, some distant places automobiles i've got considered over a hundred greenbacks. A gallon of antifreeze and a gallon of distilled water (approximately 12 greenbacks) and a sparkling belt in case you like it. The hard paintings is many times the main costly section. while you're accessible the motor vehicle areas shop which you purchase the areas at might have a handbook on your motor vehicle with step by step training for decrease than 20 greenbacks. many circumstances you will come across step by step training on your make and sort on the internet for unfastened. it extremely is a quite user-friendly challenge lots of the time. yet in specific circumstances on smaller transverse fixed engines you're able to pull lots off to get to it. examine it out and see in case you experience tender attempting it. lots of the terror approximately fixing automobiles isn't understanding what to anticipate. With the internet at present you may examine issues quite thoroughly till now you start up. additionally you may examine the words used in the training in the adventure that your motor vehicle restore lexicon is slightly lacking. If money is tight it fairly is an extremely practicable challenge for many individuals.
Q: i have recently taken of my whole water pump cover to drain the fluid, not knowing that there was a drain screw to do it.So when i took it off, i broke the seal, and now the coolant constantly drips 24/7 until i have none left, nearly blew my head gasket the other day.I was going to get a new part, but then a friend told me about locktite to seal it shut so that it does not leak????Is this the super glue stuff orrrrr? :(Please help me and links would be good so i know what to getThanks you very much!
DPO, You will need the water pump gasket, water pump gasket sealant and the manual. DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE. Remove the cover [after draining the coolant this time] and clean everything up nice and dry. Resist the urge to scrape and gouge the parts with a screw driver to remove the old gasket material. you can use a scotchbrite pad to clean it all up. [no, steel wool cannot be used] Use a THIN film of sealant on each side of the gasket [NO, more is not better] and bolt it back together gently or you risk cracking the pump cover. Don't forget to refill with coolant and recheck after it has warmed up and cooled again.Get the manual before you do any more damage. You didn't give the year or exact model 85 so the link below is just for example.
Q: We had a thunderstorm followed by power outage last night, this morning I went to use the water and it slowly went dead.I began by inspecting the pressure tank and pressure control switch, then found the outside water pump breaker was tripped, upon resetting the water was back on!But wait, after about 1-2 minutes of use there was a small quot;POPand smoke from the control switch and the breaker tripped again. It seems now that every time the water pump kicks in I've got a 50/50 shot of the circuit breaker blowing. I'm not sure what to do now, I don't want to keep resetting my pump breaker, we really didn't get that much rain so I don't know what would be causing this issue?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Q: Im replacing the water pump in my 1992 toyota celica, and i cant get the pully off! i have been working hard for like an hour, i took the belts off. all i have is good old fashoned sockets and crescent wrenches. do i need to get the pully off? and is it lefty loosey and righty tighty or righty loosy lefty tighty?? because sometimes i hear they reverse it. thanks- jordan
Before you waste another minute get your hands on a Chiltons, or other good auto repair manual. I've never see a replacement water pump without a pulley on it, that didn't have a hub for the non-electric fan to bolt to. Get the new pump with a pulley already on it.
Q: I'm looking to build a fountain to dispense Wine. For which, I'll need a pump. I'm thinking submersible aquarium pump. I'm concerned about after tastes, and general safety of this venture. Can you drink water that's been run through an aquarium pump?Would alcohol be any different? Is there a better choice? What would it be?
It wouldn't be a good idea to use a water feature pump or aquarium pump due to the lubrication on the Impeller which can contaminate the wine and make it taste weird. Ofc, if you're going to use enough wine then a small water feature pump will work without changing the taste, either way it is safe enough to drink. Your best bet though would be (something like) a chocolate fountain, but without the heater. Edit: as strange as this may sound, another idea is to use an air pump with an air stone inside a peice of tubing. This is commonly known as a sponge filter, where the uplift from the air rising pushes the liquid up.
Q: Horizontal pumps, vertical pumps, which kind of expensive?
Vertical multistage pump is expensive, little water, big pressureHorizontal water pumps, instead, are mainly used for spraying
Q: 94 f150,302 engine. the water pump comes with 2 gaskets. one behind a metal plate on the pump and another for mounting it to the motor. my question is do you have to use sealant of any kind on both gaskets or can you just bolt it on?
Do not seal these gaskets with anything extra!
