- Q: What I am trying to explain is that I took my vehicle to be serviced for a water pump. They installed it, but when I got my vehicle back, it started making this clicking noise. I took it back to be diagnosed and they came back to me saying that I need a new engine? (Before I took in my vehicle there was no clicking sound or problems, just the water pump.)Could this be the dealer trying to pull something for their mistake or what?
- It is hard to answer given the information given. What kind of car ? If your car has a waterpump that is turned by the timing belt, yes the shop could have messed up on the cam timing as they re-assembled after installing the pump. What is causing the clicking sound ? It could be a bent belt or any of a hundred things. Where do you hear the sound coming from ?
- Q: An engineer is given the job of designing the water system for a tall building. He decides to locate the pumps at ground level and feed the entire building from there. If the top floor of the building is 236 m above ground level, what must the pressure be at pump level?
- Adding to Colin's answer, in addition to pgh, you also must add the atmospheric pressure, which is the pressure caused by the air at roughly the Earth's surface, unless whatever vessel the engineering is trying to pump the water into is a vacuum or otherwise not exposed to the air outside. atmospheric pressure: 1 atm = 1.013 x 10^5 Pa
- Q: How do I replace the water pump on a 1996 Mercury 200 hp outboard engine? I have the parts, but want to make sure I replace it correctly. Thanks!
- Save yourself a lot of time and trouble and take it to a certified Mecury mechanic.
- Q: I have an 8 gpm pump at a depth of 170 ft, I am pumping the water 2000 ft in a 1 1/4 inch line. I need to know how many gallons per minute I am getting.
- Use the Bernoulli equation, aka mechanical energy balance.
- Q: I need to fit a booster pump to increase pressure from a gravity fed vented solar water heater (uses vacuum tubes). The problem is that the temperature of the water from the solar panel can be very high - in fact it could boil under some circumstances. It's safe because the system is vented. As the quot;solarwater feeds existing water heaters in the house, diluting the hot with some cold prior to the pump with an automatic mixer valve is not really an attractive option as we want to gather as much hot water as possible. Can anyone tell me where to get a booster pump that can operate at up to 100 Deg C, delivering 2 bar pressure and about 25 liters per minute. Thanks.
- Yes you can as per the other answer . Make sure when you do you dont exceed the Gallons per minute of the cellar pump or you will burn up the pump on your house . Also make sure that the pump in your moms house can only pump up to 50 psi . Most well pumps can pump higher but that is the setting on the presure switch You might be able to change the tank and switch in moms cellar to a bigger presure tank and up the presure on the presure switch and cure the problem that way and not work the well pump so hard by turning off and on so often .
- Q: I'm trying to sell my 97 Ford Escort. It needs a water pump but I have no idea what the cost is. I just want to know so I can post an estimate of how much it costs on the site I'm selling it on.
- I checked online and saw Ford Escort water pump for less than $50. But you can always call local auto parts store like Autozone or Pep Boys to get their cost. Allow up to $100 for water pump. Costs for labor are obviously expensive, too. That's what the costs of $300 that some are saying. Consider $100 for pump and $200 for labor. If they actually think that the water pump would cost $300, they forgot that we're talking about an ESCORT!! Not a Lexus or BMW.
- Q: We had to have our well pump replaced yesterday, how long before the well settles down, and the water tastes like it used to?The company who replaced the pump told us when changing a pump it disturbs the well, and it would take time for everything to settle back into place. Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.
- There are several things that contribute to settling down. If the pump was the only thing changed and not the depth it will no doubt take a couple of weeks. How far off the bottom of the vein of water does the pipe begin. Another factor is the type of soil. Sandy soil will generally run clear in a shorter period of time. If you have clay soil it will take longer. Another factor is the time of year. Given the fact that the water tables themselves change during the course of the year and depends on where you live. For example, If you've lived there for a few years you've probably noticed that you get more rust in your water in January and August. A not so good scenario would be that the water vein is changing or diminishing and that's why the pump went out in the first place. But, that is something the well people should have checked for. I would find out from them how deep the vein is and how far off bottom you are. That's something you should know anyway. Many if not all States require this information to be given to them and is recorded when a new well is bug. You can probably access the information on-line at your States website. However, I would still ask the well people for the information in case the information is not required by your state. This way they would have a better recollection of any particulars.
- Q: Why does the water pump leak?
- The leakage of water pump is caused by many factors:1, the axial movement of the bearings (axial clearance is too large, resulting in static and dynamic ring open. Leak water.2, and automotive cooling liquid is also related to, if the pH of the coolant is large, will corrode the water seal of the surface, resulting in leakage.3, and the user's use is also related, and some users do not properly maintain, add an unclean coolant, resulting in impurities in the coolant. Accumulation in the water seal surface, destroy the water seal torus, forming water leakage.
- Q: Hey guys, I have a American Volkswagen Jetta 1999 manual transmission Gas Fuel, and the water pump is messed and I need to know where it goes. In front of the radiator? or somewhere else? Does anyone know where I can get any websites showing me instructions? Thanks.
- A instruction manual would be on hand to steer you by. it incredibly is a reasonably extensive pastime. As a run down, you will prefer a huge floor jack with a block of timber so which you will placed it below the oil pan. you're able to try this so which you will eliminate the motor mount which would be on your way. The water pump is pushed by the timing belt. you will prefer to get a sparkling t-belt, t-belt tensioner, rollers for timing belt, etc. additionally notice that as quickly as you're refilling equipment with coolant, there'll be lots of air interior the equipment. in case you do not have a device that vacuums all the air and pressurizes the coolant for the period of the equipment, you will could shop topping off the coolant for a whilst till all the air escapes as youchronic it. desire this facilitates.
- Q: I recently got the water pump replaced on a 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL (3.5L V6), and ever since the temperature gage seems to be running higher...between half way and the 3rd line, where before it was replaced it never got above the second line. It is doing this when I slow down and stop at lights. Once I get going the temperature does drop. Is this normal, or did they do something wrong?
- It means the fan isn't working. No air is going through the radiator at low speeds.
