- Q: I'm running a 3ghz ecs p965t with 2gb of RAM, and I'm trying to install an XFX 8800GT. First time I tried it, it didn't power on at all, and I figured it might be the power supply (mine was a 350w) so I tried a friend's 450w, still no power. So I went out and bought a 500w, and STILL no power. Wierder still, if I leave the card plugged into the board but don't plug in the power connector, it makes a long high-pitched wailing sound but the system does power itself.I'm assuming it must be a problem with the card itself, but does anyone have any other possibilities I could try before negotiating a replacement in PC World?
- I think its the card. This is not uncommon. Card sounds DOA. Exchange it. 500 watts is good, the others are not, but lack of power would not kill a card, I don't believe. good luck. 8800GT is a sweet card, thats what I have, I play at 1920x1080 and get between 40 and 60 FPS in far cry 2 and great frames in oblivion maxed out. I get around 30 in crysis on high.

- Q: Why is my 2 Gage power cable from the battery to my amp is to hot and makes a big spark and burns the wire when you meet one end to the other end?
- Too hot means the current is very high. Probably in excess of 200 amps. I suspect there is a short in the amp, specially if you tried to connect it hot and drew a spark. That will kill a lot of electronics. .
- Q: Ok, my pc and monitor have the same socket for a power cable, and i mixed the two cables up, but one has a 5 amp fuse and one has a 10 amp fuse... What one goes where??
- Depend on the monitor and the pc. Is the pc a laptop? if so it gets the 5 amp. is the the pc a full tower gamer ? then it gets the 10 anp .Same with the monitor is to a old monitor or a new flat screen with powerstar ? See what I mean. It best to call your monitor manufacture or pc to get the right answer. it should not make a big difference but with the cost of a new PC do not take chances.

- Q: The green light on the back of the power supply comes on when the power cable is plugged. also, every time i plug in the power cable, the fan on the power supply wants to spin, but it stops. The squeezing noise remains and i push the power button - nothing comes on.Before, it used to come on for a few seconds and then it will turn off by itself. I though it was a virus, so i restarted in safe mode to scan it. The PC stayed on for like 30 minutes and then it turned off by itself. But every since it doesn't wants to come on. Is the power supply gone? If so, how can still the green button comes on and the squeezing noise remains?well, I bought a power supply, and with the new power supply, nothing comes on - not even the squeezing noiseplease help me out! - Make sure all the cords are properly hooked up properly. I recently bought a new PSU and forgot the most important cord, the main board. Also, make sure the cord for turning on or off the computer didn't come off the motherboard. If that isn't attached, no signal will be sent to turn on the computer.
- Q: i hooked up all my 4 gauge power ground cable from the batteries of my truck i passed both of them thru the fire wall but what i was wondering is will i have a problem since its the power ground coming thru the same hole thru the fire wall or will i be all good ? somebodyy help
- Make sure the edges of the hole aren't sharp or rough, to prevent the wire insulation being damaged. Usually, the ground wire on the amp is mounted to nearby metal instead of running a line all the way to the engine. Then, you can beef up the wire from the battery to frame in the engine compartment if necessary.
