You might need to upgrade your power supply as I'm pretty sure your power supply will not support that video card.

Q: Hi I have a 94 Cadillac Deville 4.9L and im trying to figure out with cable on my alternator is the power cable and which one is the ground. I have included a pic to help.: usually only power wires run to the alternator, most arent grounded by a wire, they are grounded through their case and the mounting brakets to the engine, but all charging systems are a little different. I see your ground runs to the mounting bolt, and so that wire that goes to the mounting bolt on the alternator would be your ground wire to the battery. the large wire on the back of the alternator in your picture has BAT beside it, that is the wire that would be the power wire back out to the battery. i would suggest to get a haynes or chilton manual for this specific vehicle if your not sure of things such as this.

If your PSU has a 6-pin PCIe power plug, you plug that in there. If your PSU does not have a 6-pin PCIe power plug, use the 4-molex adapter that came with your HD3850. And I disagree with the post above-- You DO NOT need a 500W PSU to run the HD3850. The HD3850 draws a paltry 75 watts maximum. As long as you have a typical dual-core system with 1 HDD + 1 ODD, you can run that HD3850 with just a 300W PSU. I'm running the more powerful 3870 (faster-clocked version of the 3850) on just a Seasonic S12-360W PSU and it works flawlessly.

Q: The green light on the back of the power supply comes on when the power cable is plugged. also, every time i plug in the power cable, the fan on the power supply wants to spin, but it stops. The squeezing noise remains and i push the power button - nothing comes on. Before, it used to come on for a few seconds and then it will turn off by itself. Q: I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?: either way is fine unless your total system power will exceed 3000 watts....otherwise it would be cheaper and just as good to just run the 4 all the way from the battery and use the 1/0 gauge for your big three upgrade should you be exceeding 1000 watts
