- Q: When talking about power supply's, what is Modular Cabling?
- Here are some examples of modular power supplies
- Q: I have noticed on some power cables there is a quot;bumpthat the cable is wrapped around what looks like a magnet. Why?
- it's called a ferrite choke and are used in a wide range of prevention of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from power supply lines and for prevention of malfunctioning of electronic equipment.
- Q: What is the name of this computer psu power adapter cable from psu to 9600 graphics card....?
- PCI express 4 pin to 6 pin power adapter it takes the 2 4 pin molex connectors that connect to a fan or a CD rom or hard drive/ect into 1 pci express 6 pin adapter. People use them if they don't have the 6 pin pci express on their power supply they use the adapter to connect extra 4 pin molexes to use for their video card/devices
- Q: I need 300 ft. of service entrance cable and I've been told I need 4 guage 3 wire 200 amp aluminum is what I need but I'm wondering if this 1 guage overhead line would work just as well if buried in 2electrical pvc conduit for 300 ft.
- When you say 4 gauge it is unclear whether you mean #4 (rated for 80 amps) or 4/0 AWG which is rated for 200 amps. Also, I've not seen a 1 gauge overhead line. Now then, that being said, if the cable you have is a triplex in that it is three conductors braided together, then I assure you, it would be a nightmare to wrestle that 300 feet in a pipe. Secondly, your voltage loss could be great enough that you would want to probably up the wire size to 250 MCM cable which would require a larger pipe. As an answer, the plan that you currently have is going to cause you more problems than it's worth. If I can be of further help, feel free to contact me personally.
- Q: I am thinking about buying a hard drive and a SATA to eSATA cable to get more space to store things but I dont know whether or not the eSATA cable supplies power to the hard drive like a USB port. Do I have to buy a power cable for the hard drive or will it work without one?
- as far as i know you dont need anything but a SATA cable and it will power up.
- Q: I currently have a 250 watt 2 channel power cord and a 500 watt alpine amp with 2 12 inch mtx terminator subs..i am continuously blowing blade fuses and i ended up buying a 680 watt power cable. Will this blow out my amp or do any damage or will it be all good and give the maximum power my amp can supply? (Without exploding) just wondering thanks!
- 250 watt power cord? Where are the fuses which are being blown? Maybe you put in the wrong fuses or the wrong amperage fuse.
- Q: I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?
- Basic rule of electronics: Eliminate as many connections as possible. If you are using just the one amp, it is better to use one connector that reduces the size of the wire (or just trim it down to fit) than adding two more connections (with a distribution block).
- Q: Hello, I am looking to purchase a single power connector for 5 hard drives. I have a modular 1200W power supply, and all i can find on website is these single power connecters that do not even look like they will connect to my power supply. My computer came with power connectors for 4 hard drives in single cables. I do not want to waste another Power supply slot for just 1 more hard drive. Can anybody tell me how to search for this? Thank you.
- SATA or EIDE?
- Q: my laptop power cable is pluged in and turned on but it fails to charge or power my laptop but its in properly and sumtimes works .. any help?
- ok....this might not be you power supply cable.. this may be a problem with your powerjack in your laptop, if that's loose, then it won't recieve any power from the cable...it will randomly though..i had the same problem a few months ago, and a little solder job will do the trick! take it to a good local repair guy (or me if you're in the uk hahaha)... and have the power jack resoldered.. try your power supply on another similar laptop to make sure it's not that..but generally speaking..once a power supply's fried..it won't work randomly...all it is, is a transformer and a converter... it would make sense if it was the power jack loose or has a faulty connection to the motherboard :) hope this helped!
- Q: Need the cable you plug into your outlet and it's plugged into the back of your power supply on your computer. My computer is for gaming and is very modern so I need one that wont melt and can handle everything. Anyone know of anywebsites that I can order a high quality one from?
- If you have a problem with your power cords melting, then the problem isn't the cord, it's your electrical wiring!
