- the power adapter is so you can charge it off of a regular outlet rather than having to have a computer handy to charge it through the usb port. i recommend getting the power adapter, i have it and its good

- No, it is against code. Flexible power cords shall not pass through building materials. You need to install a receptical behind your TV, and have an inlet for your surge protector, wir wire it into your house wiring.

- It's an ordinary 3-pin PC power cable. Any desktop, screen or printer should use one. If you don't have one, you should be able to easily find one for ?5.

- Euro is 220v to 250v or thereabouts, U.S. is only 110v. That's why your old PSU blew up. You needed to buy a step down voltage converter for avout 15 Euros or so. The Xbox PSU itself will handle the mains for whichever country it was designed for and convert the power to a DC voltage of 12v for any Xbox 360.
