Q:Whilst mowing the grass, I cut through the power cable, which was connected straight into the wall and not an adapter, which it usually is. I'm fine, how comes? The mower is a flymo bought last year.: so replace the power line.

Q:can i cut my computer Power Supply cables/USB and HDD cable to add an extension myself? They're all short.: Only if you know what you are doing (if you have experience with this kind of stuff). If you get the cables wrong you can fry your power supply, your motherboard, usb, or HDD. If you know what you are doing, then it is fine. It would be best to solder in the extensions, but not necessary. What I do is for each end of the cables that I will join, I divide the individual wires into 2 parts, and then intertwine them with the other cable's wires. Then I individually tape each cable, and finally tape all the cables. *Note: by cable i mean one the black, red, or yellow ones. By wire i mean each individual strand of metal in each cable.

Q:i'm using an older mac at uni to do illustration, i pulled the computer round to put a tablet in it and the computer shut down, there are about 20 computers in the lab....the power cable at the back that is connected to the monitor is loose, i tried to put it back in but it's crackling....can i get electrocuted from putting it back in? i can't shut down all the computers so there's still electricity running through...thanks: souds scary but its not - plug her back in your good to go!!!!

In fact, it wouldn't matter if it were RCA and the power wire, that's a myth. I quote, Technically, running your RCA wires and power wires shouldn't cause any problems and can be dubbed a myth. However, a lot of people will disagree. For induction between power and signal wire to occur, a form of AC (with some current) must be introduced on the DC power wire. The added signal through the power cable doesn't have enough current to do this. Alternator whine comes from poor (or damaged) filter circuits in the HU. A induction type filter to the HU is an easy cure.

Q:I have a Maxtor 3200 and I accidentally plug in the wrong power cable for it. I saw the light flicker on then off. I realized my mistake and tried to plug it in its correct cable but now it won't turn on at all. I figure that the wrong cable must of forced too much energy through it. I have a lot of important files on there. I know that fixing it won't be cheap, I fully realize that. However, is there any hope of retrieving my files at all?: You will be able to get your files back as they are magneticly stored on the harddrive not electronicly, as far as fixing it yourself, you could try opening the plastic shell and retrieving the harddrive itself from inside and hook that up to your pc if you know how.

Q:when i bought my motherboard it came with two 4-pin to sata power cables but i see that the power supplies have a sata power cable on it how do i connect these i have no idea how to do this: if your power supply has sata power supply, there is no need to use the 4 pin adapter. most of power supply has 4 pin. consist of 4wires color red,2-black and yellow. and you cant go wrong connecting these pins, for they wont fit, if tried to connect on other way

Q:So, yesterday I went to a bargain store and I found a Memorex MiniMove Boombox for iPod for 15$ because it didn't come with a DC cable. It has a battery function but it will only charge my iPod if its plugged in. I've been browsing OKorder for a DC IN 6v power cord like it calls for, but I was just wondering if there's anything else I need to be aware of before I consider buying one. Everything else works great, but I really need a charger as well as the stereo because my mom broke my last one and now it work play anything relating to my iPod when its plugged in but that was the only alarm clock I had. Thanks!: Hard to say for sure. Your best bet is to go to the Memorex site and see if you can download the user manual that will have the full specs for the power cord. Then you can match everything.

Q:My power supply has one cable with 3 sata connectors on it. Can I connect my disc drive and hard drive on the one cable? My PSU also has a cable with 3 four pin molex connectors on it and my case has 3 fans. Can I connect all my fans to that one cable with all the molex connectors on it?: Yes to both questions. It doesn't matter whether you're connecting only harddrives to that cable or only diskdrives (aside from the fact that these are usually located a little apart from each other.) You can combine both and they will work. As for fans... If they have the molex connectors rather than standard 3-pin fan connectors, you can connect them for sure. Depending on what power supply you have, you'll probably have anywhere from 18-30amp on your 12v molex rail. Harddrives will take under 2amp, and depending on what fans you have, they'll use anywhere 0.5-3amp, so even if you have 3 extremely powerful fans drawing 3amp each (3 x 3amp = 9amp), you can safely connect 6 of such monster fans to that 12v molex rail. To be honest, I haven't met too many of such fans - most standard 120mm fans, even with leds, will use no more than 1.5amp. 80mm fans non-led fans will use about 0.3-0.5 amp. If you have a very powerful psu with 30amp on 12v rail and hundred of 80mm fans, in theory you can run all of them. In practice, I'd like to see that :)

Q:Title says it all, Can you please show the link to it like on OKorder or something, thanks.: I agree completely with the reply above However SOME eSATA cards that have external power jacks to power the external drive will have either a four pin Molex plug (same as an IDE/PATA drive) or a Floppy power plug. And back in the day when Firewire was more common any good firewire card had a power socket on it, again, either a Molex plug or a floppy power plug. AD
