Q: Does it take more power to pump water with a 1 /12 hp bg motor/pump than one that is a spare pump/motor running dry,not connected to the system? I am trying to figure out how long it will run with an power inverter during a power failure.
Hi there, Your 1/12 HP motor will draw 0.52 amps at 110 volts from the inverter. It would draw about 5 or 6 amps from the 12 volt battery to produce the 0.52 amps from the inverter. You need to know the amp-hour rating on your battery then divide that number by 5-6 to get an approximate time the pump would operate on backup. Yes a pump that is pumping water will draw considerable more power than a pump that is pumping 'dry'. The best way to check is to just try your setup and see how long it lasts (before it's needed) since there are inefficiencies in the inverter, voltage drop in the wiring and perhaps the backup battery is not new. Manufacturers always are optimistic with their ratings Short answer: try it out before you really need it then you will know for sure. Hope this helps, Al
Q: mercury 9.8hp.installed a new water pump impeller and still no water circulating through engine. no blockage anywhere. now what??? i`m stumped at this point.
I have seen this many times on 9.87.5Merc'sThere is a plastic o-ring under the power head and it is probablly melted closed. There is a way to fix it without removing the powerhead.Remove the lower unit and pull out the water pickup tube. Then use a piece of brake line 5/16th sharpen on a 45 degree angle and push up the opening for the water pickup to open the passage. This will fix your water problem.
Q: I have a 1997 Saturn SL2 and I was wondering how much would it be to replace the water pump? Would it be less expensive if I took it to a neighborhood mechanic instead a more popular one like Goodyear or something? Thanks for looking.
i just replaced my water pump on my jeep, the whole water pump kit was about $59.99 with lifetime warranty, most mechanics charge alot to do it, i did it myself, you just need a water pump, gasket, coolant draining pan, bottle of coolant and the procedure is pretty easy
Q: Do it yourself steps
Yes - always change the water pump with the timing belt. The tensioner should also be changed, and it is a good idea to change the crankshaft and cam seals while you are in there. It's a big disappointment for any of those to fail between belt changes. The water pump and tensioner can also cause the belt to fail prematurely.
Q: The single-phase water pump in the house is out of order. After opening the power supply, the motor can not start by itself. It is necessary to turn the shaft clockwise by hand. Then, what is the problem? How can I solve it? Thank you
Is your starting capacitor pump is broken. Because you pump it is a single asynchronous motor..... Single-phase asynchronous motor by capacitive phase shifting function, the single-phase alternating current isolated from another 90 degree phase alternating current. The two alternating current into two groups or four groups of motor winding, forming a rotating magnetic field inside the motor rotating magnetic field induced current in the rotor, the induced current magnetic field and rotating magnetic field in the opposite direction, by rotating magnetic field push pull into the rotating state, because the rotor must be cutting magnetic lines to produce induction current, so the rotor speed must be lower than the rotating magnetic induction motor speed, so thatSo if the starting capacitor is broken, then your pump will start difficult,
Q: I'm building a 79 SBC (old style) 350 and have a new stock water pump...what hose and where does it go from the top of the water pump to wherever? Heater hose? Or can I just leave it plugged. No A/C I just need a heater/defroster, etc...
New thermostat, yet have you ever tried a decrease temp thermostat? Our RV 479 CI used to run a million/2 way up and three/4 in end/bypass and close to the pink line up mountain roads. I placed a decrease thermostat and it runs a million/4 and <a million/2 end/bypass. severe temps are dry out electric powered cord rubber insulators and that i have had to replace diverse the ignition wires. also it is frustrating to crank reason you have become vapor lock. The gas contained in the gas is so warm is turns to vapor and the gas pump can no longer longer suck gas because it isn't reliable adequate to suck vapor, in ordinary words liquid gas. if so, flooded start up tactics might want to artwork. floor the gas, shop it floored and crank the starter. Pump like loopy also, yet shop you foot in truth floored. it would want to start up.
Q: Water pump belongs to power equipment or mechanical equipment?
Mechanical equipment, right?. The motor is only transmitting power to the pump, and no other device is available.
Q: implementation of regulator in water level control system
This might be explained with an example. There is a water tank being used by a community (or a dwelling) and it is supplied by a pump from a well. There is a switch in the tank that is wired to the pump motor. The switch is activated by a lever attached to a float in the tank. When the float is in the down position the pump runs, When the float is pushed up by the water the punp is turned off. The pump first operates and fills the tank and then shuts off when the tank is full. When the usage of water drops the water in the tank to a certain level, the pump turns on until it is full again. The float, the switch and the motor are the pump regulating devices. This type of regulation is called two-position, like a light switch. Other more involved types of regulation may adjust a valve in the pipeline from the pump . This changes the rate of flow while the pump continues to run. The first type of regulation can be called digital because the flow is yes or no. The second can be called analog because while it is on, the flow varies in amount. If I have not adequately answered your question, maybe someone else will.
Q: hooking up a water pump to my tank and need a power supply
whrere does red wire go and where does brown wire go
Q: House has bad mains pressure, so previous owner installed a quot;Holding Tankwhich stores water from the mains, before pumping it into the house for the internal tanks. However, after some recent plumbing work when the mains was turned off, it's running a little weird. The pump seems to be constantly running, although at a very low level, and some times when the taps/fawcets are opened, they seems to be nothing for up to 30 seconds (only air), and then the water rushes out. Same thing for toilet/WC cisterns..Any advice/pointers appreciated.CheersJM
If the possibility exists then relocating the pump below the level of the water source prevent air entering the pump. Having leaks in pipes and seals will let in air all the time and should be corrected. Many centrifugal pumps have a priming hole that is on top to fill the pump with water if they are not self priming but you need to make sure that the pump does not drain empty while closing the hole and starting the pump. Some pumps have a priming tank that is filled with water and then the opened to the priming port, these can be used with the pump already running and will collect the air bubles from the pump while it is starting. Positive displacement and self priming pumps create sufficient suction/vacuume to draw the colum of water intot the pump to get going and if these fail it is due to excess height above the suction water level or leaks in pipes or seals.
