Operations Conditions
1. The medium temperature should not be over 60oC, the density 1200Kg/m3, and the pH value within 5-9.
2. During running, the pump must not be lower than the permitted lowest liquid level.
3. Rated voltage 380 V, rated frequency 50 Hz. The motor can run successfully, only under the condition the deviations of both rated voltage and frequency are not over ± 5%.
4. The maximum diameter of the solid grain going through the pump has not to be larger than 50% of that of the pump outlet.

- The short answer to your question: It is unlikely that a water pump will go bad without leaking, but weirder things have happened. Your thinking is right overheating only when you drive is an indication of limited flow, either caused by a restriction (radiator, hose, thermostat), an air bubble, or a bad pump. Are you sure that the air is bled out of your system? If you have an air pocket in your engine or at the pump, you will get reduced flow. I think that the 4.7 Durango has a radiator cap, if so, with the engine cold, take the cap off, fill it, and start the engine. If you get bubbles every time you rev the engine, then you may have a bad head gasket, this would introduce bubbles in the system... Make sure that the lower radiator hose is not collapsing. Most of these hoses have a stiff spring inside to keep them from collapsing when the water pump is running. Otherwise, my guess would be that your pump is bad, or you have more restrictions in your system. Good luck.
- Q:My truck has been over heating, and I cant figure out whats going on...the only thing that gets really hot is the upper radiator hose, and the radiator....I just noticed there was a plug unhooked from the water pump, what does that do? Or maybe it could be the thermostat? It just overheats, and when I park it, it wont start half the time, usually I can let it cool off and go, but sometimes it just dies and I have to let it cool off and jump it off.
- Most likely the thermostat. If there is no leak that's most likely. That plug could go to the fan sensor, but I think F-150 fans were belt driven. More likely it goes to the temp guage. If you have an electric fan, check to see if it goes on.
- Q:I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl while driving home the other day my check engine light came on ,then I noticed my battery was loosing its' charge ,then I noticed my temperature gauge rising very fast.I stoped to see what the problem was.The vehicle had over heated and the serpentine belt was partially off Iet it cool down then I put water in it and drove it home which was about a quarter of a mile.I noticed no problems with the fan hitting the water pump pully until I put the belt back on .My water pump pulley appears to be off line how do I fix this?
- The water pump pulley is bolted to the water pump flange. The flange bolts are sheared off or have worked loose and the pulley/belt combination are no longer turning the water pump. If the flange has come loose from the water pump shaft, it will still be bolted to the water pump pulley. This may have also been caused by a locked up water pump. You can not fix a loose water pump flange or a locked up water pump. A new/rebuilt water pump will have to be installed. Happy Trails!

- If you have the 5.4L motor it will have a plastic intake manifold. Look at the front. There is an aluminum crossover pipe attached to the front on the top. Those are famous for leaking aroung where the intake meets the head and where the aluminum and plastic meet. You may need a flashlight and a small inspection mirror to check all the way around. Also if the valley or apace between the heads has coolant sitting in it that's a good bet you have a leaking crossover or a head temp sensor leaking. The head temp sensors are located at the back of the heads. The other common spot for coolant to leak is the heater hoses be sure to check at all the fittings and make sure they haven't come apart up by the firewall. One last thing to check is the belt around the water pump pulley. It is easy to put it on so the water pump spins the wrong way. Common mistake. Lastly if the manifold IS leaking do NOT attempt to do this if you do not have a top notch torque wrench!!! You can very easily strip the bolts or holes that are in the heads. If you are not sure take it to a good technician. Dorman makes a good replacement manifold for about 200-300 bucks. The gaskets are made onto it. I have had no issues with that one leaking. Also do not try to relpace just the crossover... I know that it has bolts and they sell gaskets but it will leak. If the manifold needs to come off it is also a great time to change the plugs. They will be super easy at that point, be sure to use new Injector o-rings too. Hope that helps. Jim

I called one mechanic and was told the 2001 BMW Z3's water pump seals are tight and do not leak with the car is running (engine is hot) but once the car cools the water pump seals expand resulting in the small leak, that I shouldn't worry about it unless it leaks more, the engine over-heats, or dash light turns on. - It depends on which engine you have, with or without a supercharger. The non-supercharged engine is a piece of cake. the supercharged one is a bit of a pain to get at the water pump. On the non-supercharged engine, all you need to do is remove the serpentine belt, the water pump pulley and the bolts that hold the water pump to the front cover. I have detailed instructions if you send me your email address I can give them to you. They are from GM Service Information website. - Q:i have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee, started overheating last week, i flushed out the radiator with water, i replaced the thermostat, overheated again, i felt the top radiator hose it was cold. so i replaced the water pump. still overheated. every time i drain the system when i refill it i had red to fill the radiator and reservoir, leave the radiator cap off, then start the engine and turn the heat on max, the radiator burps the air bubble out, then the coolant level in the radiator starts going up and down, my thermostat is rated at 195, when the guage hits 210 hot coolant sprays out of the radiator, but the top radiator hose is cold, what am i doing wrong? is there air still trapped in that top radiator hose?
- id say its the radiator after all what ya replaced. have it checked out at a shop. before ya do though ya might do a complete flush of the motor and the cooling system. might be a blockage in a water jacket in the motor. ya can buy the flush kit at any parts store, its simply a T that ya splice into on of the heater core hoses,hook up a water hose,turn heater on, and wait with the engine running. if theres any blockage it will spit and sputter till its pushed out with the water pressure. let it idle till clear water comes out then drain and add coolant. try this first with water only and if it doesnt solve your problem id say ya need a radiator.

- tried to send pix of water pump. no paste function on answers. anyhow a pulley at the top and bottom w/ a paddle wheel ran by river current. gear it down small pulley on paddle to big rope pulley under water to soak rope. an adjustable wringer pulley at top squishes water from soft rope into a drum or tank. i will try to email picture.
