- Q: I have to replace the hot water recirculating pump in my house. It is made in Hungary and the Manufacturer's letters look almost Russian. The only words in English are the spec's (amp draw, voltage, etc.) This house was built in 1998 and the plumber's no longer in business. It looks like it just threads onto a quot;capbut I don't want to start using pipe wrenches and just mangle it (it's very difficult to get to also). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
- Typically, such pumps come as an assembly with flanges to match the existing pipe. Determine your pipe-size and purchase the entire system to that size. Your plumbing supply will be able to help you match all that. And the difference in cost between just the pump cartridge and the entire system is nominal. Get a good one, by the way. Grundfos and Bell Gosset are amongst the best, TACO comes in pretty well also. Unless you have isolation valves on either side of this pump, you will have to drain the system to do it properly. While you are in there, you have the opportunity to install isolation valves and other sorts of refinements for easing future servicing. Hope this helps.
- Q: i have a well that i am trying to pump and i need to have one pump to bring the water up from the well, and one pump to take it out to our lawn. i just wanted to know if i could hook the irrigation pump directly into the well pump, or if that would be damaging to the pump?thanks!
- You can always use demand pumps to do the job. This way they just sit idle and wait on the call for water before they go to work.

- I believe if you are looking at the motor the water pump will be to your left on top of the motor and to the front. Drain the radiator. There is a big smooth pulley that turns the water pump loosen the 4 10mm bolts, remove the belt the remove the bolts. Under the pulley there will be 5 or 6 8mm bolts remove those, make sure a drain pan is under the pump because there will be some residual coolant in the motor. Scrape the old gasket off of the engine block then reverse the procedures to install the new pump. Make sure you torque the pump to the proper specs so that the pump housing does not distort. You can pick up a Chiltons manual for that car a local parts store that can walk you through this in greater detail with pictures. Good Luck
- Q: A guy i know changed the Water pump on my 02 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.7 in it because it was leaking coolant, when i got it back the leak was fixed but now there is a ticking noise. He thinks that the Timing Chain Tensioner needs to be replaced... can i get some opinions here? does he sound correct?
- It is possible. The water pump is driven off the timing chain on that engine. Why didn't he replace the tensioner when it was apart is a good question. The fact that it is now ticking isn't a good sign. I hope it was lined up properly.. get it looked at soon before there is the potential for damage.
- Q: I own a Camaro 1995 V6 3.4L automatic, it was diagnosed that the water pump was leaking and I was going to take it in on Saturday 3/1/08. But this morning I drove it and it seem that the car is losing power the RPM goes all up to 4-5 thousand to make a speed change. The car seems to stall like if it gets stuck the RPM goes up and eventually the next speed kicks in. I will be taking the car in tomorrow 2/27/08 to see whats wrong but I was hoping maybe someone knows whats wrong so that I can have an idea before someone tries to take advantage of me. I do know that the car started leaking water/coolant more than before after that little drive in the morning.The car is very well kept oil change is always on time .I always make sure that the water and the oil is level. transmission fluids are clean. I do know that the EGR Valve needs to be replaced. (hope this info helps)thank you

- Q: Does anyone know where to find small A/C powered submersible pumps, that operate at 20-25 psi? I can only find D/C pumps for ship use.I need one for running humidifiers and misters for large terrariums

- Q: the pulley wheel fell off while i was driving and all of the pulleys turn except the two under the water pump pulley. does anyone know if that is supposed to spin by hand or will it only spin when the car is running?
- Your water pump should definately be able to be spun by hand. Generally when a water pump goes, or starts to go, it will leak antifreeze and or you will be able to shake the pulley slightly. Double check and try to spin the water pump again without any belt tension on it. A water pump can go at any time however, if your car has less than like 80,000 miles on it, it's probably fine.
