Q:2001 buick centurywater runs down at area of crank shaft: I concur with the weep hole definition. However, when coolant starts to leak through that hole, it is time for a new water pump. Which engine do you have? If you have the 3800 V6, that pump is fairly easy to change. The 3100 and 3400's water pumps are also fairly easy to do with some twisting and turning of the hands. Either way, make sure you get the right water pump for your engine.

If that's what is wrong, how long do i have to fix it and is it hard and expensive to fix?: No it isn't hard to fix, first loosen the little bolts on the water pump pulley, then take the belt off, then unbolt the water pump and take pulley off old pump, clean off old seal from block, put on new seal, you may have to use gasket maker or silicone, install new pump, and bolt pulley on to new pump, then reinstall belt. Oh I forgot you will have to drain the antifreeze before you start, and refill it after you are done! Start the car and let it warm up and look for leaks, if you see a leak you didn't get it sealed properly and will have to repeat the sealing process and antifreeze. Takes an hour or so to do!

Q:If the water pump does not get water to pump, will it be burnt out? If so, then can it be fixed? And if it doesnt get water to pump, what exactly happens to it?: Anything can be fixed. The question is: is it cheaper to repair or replace the water pump? Keep in mind that water through a pump cools it. Without this water, the pump will overheat and eventually fail.

Installation: Clean both gasket mating surfaces on water pump and cylinder block. Install three water pump retaining bolts and tighten to 20-30 N-m (15-22 ft-lbs). Connect water pump inlet tube on water pump. Install water pump belt on pulley and adjust tension to specification. Connect battery ground cable. Replace engine coolant. Operate engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Check for leaks and recheck coolant level. Couldn't get the picure but this should help, the pump is located on the backside of the engine, just be carefull, this engine is really easy to get the pulley on backwards then the belt won't line up right.

Q:I think my water pump is going bad but figure id ask everyone to see what they thought. I leak coolant like the first 20 min i drive my truck and then it will seal itself up for the next day or two then start leaking again. It is getting leaked all over the belt and the fan is spraying it all around so you cant tell where exactly its coming from but i checked all the hoses and they are good and im pretty sure its not the radiator. Also, when it is leaking there is a loud whining noise when my trucks on and i heard that can be from the pump too.: LOOK okorder on internet! WHAT SIZE IS ENGEIN HERE! Q:Im half way through replacing my water pump and im stuck...the power steering pump pully blocks access to the final bolt that needs to be removed so the water pump can be removed so i can replace the water pump... any hints on how to get to the bolt so i dont disassemble something i dont need to?: 2003 Impala Water Pump
