- Q: My boyfriend told me that my car needs a new water pump. He said this because when you start the car, it sounds like trickling water is coming from somewhere in the engine bay. The car overheated once before and he put coolant in it, ever since then, it hasn't overheated. But last week he told me that I shouldn't drive it at all because the pump is about to go. I went out today and started it to see if I can hear the quot;grindingnoise that I read about online and all I hear was the trickling sound. It's rainy outside so I can't tell if the pump is leaking water from the quot;weepquot;. Is it the water pump? I want to make a two mile round trip to go pick up sushi and the place is a mile there and a mile back. Will I seize my engine or get stranded if I make this tiny trip? Is it my water pump?
- the water pump will be leaking if it's about to go. you shouldn't hear dripping but should be able to hear the bearings going, kind of like a griding noise. The only way you'd hear water dripping is it were running out lots and you'd have a puddle under the car. It is was over heating was the thermostat checked? shifting has nothing to do with a water pump. check under the car while running to see where the leak is. If you can hear it you should be able to see it. could be an easy fix like a radiator hose.
- Q: Pump impeller diameter plus assembly what changes? What's the effect on the motor?
- Two 1.5 kW desktop self-priming pump impeller 14.7cm primary current 15.5cm problems may occur. After the impeller increases, the flow, head, shaft power will increase (increase in volume see the following formula), the original 1.5KW motor may overload operation.
- Q: I received a call from my daughter who said that the water pump was making a grinding noise. She sent a photo to me showing 0 psi on the gauge. I came home to find it actually working again but after running water straight from the pump I found that it is really rusty. What is this caused from? Our water was nice and clear! We've had freezing conditions here. Still doesn't explain the sudden rust.
- If you have galvanized pipes there is always a trace amount of metal (rust) in your water but if you use the water every day it isn't noticeable, as it comes through in such small quantities. It could be that one or more of your pipes froze and cracked, releasing some larger chunks of rust from the walls of the pipes or pressure tank. Run the water steady for a while and see if it clear up. It would be wise to check all of your exposed pipes/tanks for leaks now too because if a pipe or tank cracks it will either be leaking now or shortly in the future. The rust/ice could have also been temporarily blocking the pipes, causing the 0 pressure. If the pump is running with no water, it will run faster and much louder.
- Q: My truck has been over heating, and I cant figure out whats going on...the only thing that gets really hot is the upper radiator hose, and the radiator....I just noticed there was a plug unhooked from the water pump, what does that do? Or maybe it could be the thermostat? It just overheats, and when I park it, it wont start half the time, usually I can let it cool off and go, but sometimes it just dies and I have to let it cool off and jump it off.
- I doubt its your water pump. That plug may have been just the temperature sensor. Definitely sounds like a bad thermostat. Replace it. They aren't expensive at all. Letting your truck over heat does serious irreversible damage to the engine. You may have significantly shortened the life of your engine already. Just replace the thermostat when the truck is COLD, never when its hot. If it still overheats with the replacement thermostat, your radiator may be clogged.
- Q: What's the water pump?
- Whether frozen water pump or cooling water pump, including the boiler with the water pump, as long as it is used for replenishment, are called water pump. Normally, the pump works intermittently.
- Q: does any one know where the water pump is located on a 97 nissan altima? and where can i find one, would pep boys have one?
- most cars, it is in the front, driven by the timing belt. If you are going to replace the pump, replace the timing belt also (if there is one), as it's probably overdue, and you have to remove it to get at the water pump. Also the tensioner. Replacing the timing belt is a difficult task. If you screw it up, you could damage the engine. .
- Q: what is the actual capacity of 15 stage 1 H.P. Borewell submersible pump. I mean can it draw water if it at 300 ft depth. Is 15 stage 1 H.P pump capable to draw water
- Each stage of a submersible pump helps draw water from a depth of 32 ft. so You actually need a 10 stage pump to draw water from a 300 ft bore well. Every HP of motor capacity can take 5 stages of pumps. So at least 2 HP is required to draw water from a 300 ft bore well. But the water yield will be very low. You may just get a trickle of water with 10 stages and 2 HP. So you need at least a 3 HP motor with 10 stage pump to draw water from a 300 ft bore well. If you need to pump it any higher from the ground level then u need further stages. this needs additional stages. So a 15 stage 3 HP pump will get you meaningful water from the 300' bore well.
- Q: Ok i was wondering which is the from hose off of the motor the bottom or top since i thinl my heater core hose are reversed and i only get nuke warm air and not hot and yes ive got a brand new heater core, new anti freese, new thermostat and gaskets and all hoses are clear and not rust in the system
- IIRC it's just like the v8 chevys. Bottom rad hose is out of rad, into pump. Top rad. hose is out of engine, into rad.
- Q: here is the problem with my water pump control switch settings. the water is being used, runs dry and stays off for sometimes 3 minutes or so.i realize the springs control the cut in and cut out. do i need to make the spring more compressed to make the pump come on sooner? or do i need to make the spring looser to make the switch come on sooner?when i read/hear about adjusting the cut in. the answers seem vague because i do not know the perspecitve of the spring.does compressing the spring make the swith flip easier? or does compressing the spring make the switch harder to flip on?i installed a new 30/50 switch today. My air tank was at 50 or so PSI. but i dropped it to about 30. is the goeal to make the entire full system 50 pounds? because after my pump cycles i get about 70 psi!!!
- The problem lies with the new 30/50 switch. With Your pressure tank empty of water, set the air pressure at 28psi. What is happening is when the water pressure drops below about 45 psi - the air pressure (50psi) on the bladder is forcing the water out rapidly. Then the pump has to work like cracy to overcome that bladder pressure! Easy Fix. Make sure the tank has no water in it.
- Q: My water pump is broken and so far we can't get the fan off so we need instructions.
- the fan and fan clutch are bolted to the water pump pully. you have to hold the pully in place and break the torque off of the fan clutch nut. easiest way is to go down to an autozone or wherever and rent a fan clutch removal tool. it'll have a wrench for the nut, and also a large fork that goes over the bolts on the pully.
