- Q:I have a leak and all the hoses are fine but I am not sure were the water pump is also has anyone had this repaired and what did it cost (part plus labor) in general is it hard to get to? Thanks in advance
- The Chrysler Concorde came with either a 3.3 or 3.5 litre V6 engine that year. On both of these engines, the water pump is driven by the backside of the timing belt. The pump is buried deep in the front of the engine, and is one of the hardest to change of all the cars I've ever worked on. If the hoses seem to be ok, you can have a pressure test run on the cooling system to find the exact source of the leak. Most garages will do this for minimal cost, and this way you can get an estimate to repair exactly what's wrong, instead of wasting time and money on unnecessary repairs. If it does turn out to be the W/P, make sure they include a new timing belt in the estimate. It has to come off anyways, and any coolant on the belt will severely shorten it's life span.. just a little cheap insurance. As for cost; labor rates vary wildly from shop to shop, so I can't give you a precise number, but I will tell you this: Once you know what it needs, call a few reputable repair garages. They know you're looking to deal, and will often low-ball estimates over the phone to get your business, even if it means reducing the labor rate, and/ or the markup on parts. They still make money on the job, and you save.
- Q:What are the quota items for the complete pump installation?
- Pump installation / anchor bolt installation anchor bolt hole, fill oar vibration cushion installation
- Q:I've never had overheating problems before, (although the heating itself never worked great) but today the gauge suddenly spiked while driving at about 50mph. I pulled over and steam was coming off the engine and the cooland tank was bubbling. The coolant was low, but not empty. I put some water in the coolant tank, let the engine cool and drove to a gas station where I got some coolant which I mixed with the water in the coolant tank. That didn't seem to help any. Even after letting the engine cool completely, it spikes after less than five minutes of driving. The radiator and both top and bottom hoses are equally hot. When I tried to start the engine with the radiator cap off, cooland shoots up out the top. The fans are working propely and there is no debris on the front of the radiator. So I'm sort of at a loss. Also, I've had some trouble starting since the problem.
- could be several things always check the simple things first thermostat and cap the water pump will not always leak if it is bad if you dont see it leaking grab the fan or the pulley on the pump and try to move it if you get any movement it is bad check the oil see if it is brown and milkey looking if it is then it is your head gasket this will also make it hard to start check the plugs to see if they are wet if so there is water in the cylinder which means head gasket and always have the head checked for cracks or being warped a machine shop can do that for you
- Q:I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4 engine and the water pump needs replaced how much would this cost me to take to a garage to have fixed?
- $300... give or take $200
- Q:ok water can't sucked up more than 10 M height in normal atmospheric pressure some well s are deep more than 10 M even some water aquifers are deep more than 200 m what are technologies used to pump water to ground level BQ- how is crude oil pumped from far deep oil wells (some offshore oil platform pump oil from more than 2000 m deep ocean and another several hundred meters deep from sea beds )
- You push it from the bottom. Home water wells have a plastic hose and a power cord along side and the pump is attached to the end and lowered down the hole and pushes the water up the hose. Oil wells are commonly pressurized, but where not that donkey engine you see in oil fields is attached to a long rod or cable and at the bottom of the hole is a pair of valves and a piston and the mechanism pulls the oil in the lower valve and pushes it through the upper valve and that pushes the previous oil up the pipe.
- Q:Water pump. A drip on the edge of the pump or drip on the ground. Serious concern on which one?
- The dirp or a puddle of coolant on the ground. usually means that the water pump has to be replaced.
- Q:A water pump that consume 2kW of electric power when operating is claimedto take in water from a lake and pump it to a pool whose free surface is 30 m above the free surface of the lake at a rate of 50 L/s. Determine if this claim is reasonable. You have to show the minimum power required is 14.7 kWand i can't get it.
- A liter of water mas a mass of 1Kg. How much work must be done to raise 50 Kg of water through a height of 30 m? You can say: Work done (W) = potential energy gained (mgh), Or you can say that Work done is the weight force (mg) * the distance moved against the force (h) Either way, W = m * g * h where m is the mass; g is the acceleration due to gravity {9.8 m/s?}; h is the height W = 50 * 9.8 * 30 = 14700 J If you need to do that amount of work in one second, that's a rate of working of 14700 J/s A joule/second is a watt. Minimum power required = 14700 W = 14.7 kW
- Q:I just had my water pump/timing belt replaced and oil change. When the pump failed, white smoke was coming out, which I figured out to be coolant from the smell. Now there is smoke coming out from under the engine, which I believe to smell like oil. Also, the temperature gauge goes up to the halfway point when I am at a stoplight or idling. The highest I have ever seen it is at 1/3.I had my car serviced by the dealership and I asked them. The man said its burning oil residue from the oil change and that it will burn away in a few days. Is this true? I have had my car worked on and oil changed for the past year at this dealership and have never had any smoke or other problems. What else could be going on? Worse case scenarios. Thanks everyone.
- the oil residue should burn off very quickly since the mechanic was too lazy to de grease it himself. What does your oil pressure gauge read? It should be at least 30 to 40 psi at idle Unless you have a leak which would make it run hotter than normal and cause the smoke from under the engine you spoke of. I would have another mechanic look at the engine for possible coolant or oil leaks which would cause exterior smoke from engine and a warmer running temperature.
- Q:i own a 02 gti 337 i bought back in 04 the water is leaking bad and im pretty sure the water pump has gone bad on it i had it replaced awhile back but the check engine came on it isnt this time so i think its just a leak from the seal my question is where is the water pump located is it on the timing belt or is it on a seperate pulley i dont wanna mess with the timing belt and i dont have the money to get this replaced so any help would be great thanks
- The timing belt drives the Water Pump in a VW- ??????????????????? I don't think so. That said, it is under the timing belt and you must remove it to access the pump, heck you have to strip the entire front of the engine to get that bad boy out. I would order the Housing with the pump already installed and a new housing O-Ring and get new bolts. The reason is that the actual pump bolts tend to snap on removal and are next to impossible to drill out of the housing. My guess is a lousy install if it is leaking or substandard parts. - Q:I have a 1997 Saturn SL2 and I was wondering how much would it be to replace the water pump? Would it be less expensive if I took it to a neighborhood mechanic instead a more popular one like Goodyear or something? Thanks for looking.
- i just replaced my water pump on my jeep, the whole water pump kit was about $59.99 with lifetime warranty, most mechanics charge alot to do it, i did it myself, you just need a water pump, gasket, coolant draining pan, bottle of coolant and the procedure is pretty easy
