I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.

- Kookie: By rug doctor I am guessing that you mean she cleaned the carpets in your house with the rental carpet cleaning machine made by the rug doctor company. If she used their cleaning solution, it might be that you are reacting to the chemicals in the carpet cleaner. Lots of cleaners use formaldehyde. If that is the case, you can try a couple of things #1. Re clean the carpets using only vinegar and water #2 Treat the carpets with zeolite powder to absorb the chemicals If you are not familiar with zeolites, they are volcanic rocks that are used lots of ways. Because they are negatively charged, they trap and absorb most chemicals and organic odors (those are generally positively charged). You would want to use some crushed up zeolite so it can get on the carpet fibers and get the chemical absorbed. I'll give you some links to read about formaldehyde and zeolite. The vinegar would work as well, but your house is going to smell like a salad for a while. Good luck!

- Hmmm. Not a seamstress, nor do I care to be, but I have one that I enjoy, and has lasted for 3 years, but it was machine made, and as a Rag Rug, was stitched, not knotted. Actually a pretty decent project though, for using scrap fabric, much like a braided oval/round rug. Perhaps you might find in a fabric retailer, a Mesh type, stiff material/substance, similar to that used in small yarn craft kits, but in a larger size? Just my two sense
- Q: The ones with the rubber underneath. It doesn't say on the tag. Can you wash them in the washer and dryer? Or will it melt in the dryer?
- I have used my washer and dryer to wash mine before but I usually wash it in the washer and hang it dry. The plastic didn't melt on mine when I dried it in the dryer, I just hang it to dry because I usually wash it seperately from my other clothes.
