- it won't cause mould to occur so long as you gently go over the stain with warm water and a bit of washing powder,not with any foam or mousse as they will bleach your carpets(they really do bleach).after that,go over it again with just warm water and soak out moisture with a towel or tissue paper.when completely dry,lightly sprinkle talcum powder over it to keep away any smells.don't hoover it off,just let it get walked into the carpet and hoover it the day after.

- Carpet tiles usually have some adhesive on the bottom so they can stick to a concrete floor. I think over padding they would be too uneven and cause tripping. Remove the padding and just put them directly on the floor.

- Q: how to repair flattened carpet?
- I've used several methods to fix mine. If it's a small carpet (like an area rug) you can use a coin (like a quarter). Simply hold it on its side and rub it back and forth over the carpet. Another method is the spray bottle method. Sprits your carpet with water, let is sit for about 15 minutes, and vacuum. This will take 3 or 4 attempts. Always let the carpet completely dry before the next attempt. The last method is a pain, but one that I find works the best. Take a steam iron to your carpet. You'll have to do it in sections if it's a large carpet. After allowing the steam to penetrate deeply into the carpet, take a stiff brush and go over the area until the nap of the carpet it restored to its original condition.

- Depends what those fluffs are....... uld be natural fluff on the wool, could be broken fibers..............and that's not good. If broken fibers, could be moth damage or other insects living in the wool. Vacuum daily. Have the rug cleaned especially it has had food, animal products, or a lot of foot traffic across it.

- Good morning, The other user gandrew is right about using a vapor barrier plastic sheeting underneath your floors in the crawlspace, but you can also go a step further and use a higher-quality carpet pad that has anti-microbial treatment in it alongside a vapor barrier. Also, when you buy your carpet, be sure the material is of high quality and check for things such as moisture and stain warranties to make sure you are getting the best carpet for your great room. - Q: Some wax fell on the carpet(quite dense) and i tried the old trick ironing down a piece of paper on top of it to lift the wax off. It has worked for me before. - First, you need to determine if the carpet fibers have melted to the paper. If the carpet is synthetic and since you applied heat, it's a possibility. If it has not melted, use a wax solvent, available at the grocery in the cleaning products aisle to remove the wax and the paper. If the carpet has melted, the only way you'll be able to remove it is to cut it off. You can try, with very small scissors to go under the paper and trim the fibers to remove the paper. Remove as little fiber as possible, obviously. If that technique isn't feasible, you may have to replace a portion of the carpet. If you don't have any extra carpet, perhaps you can remove a piece from inside a closet. Using a carpet knife, cut a square out of the carpet removing the damage, use the cut piece as a template to cut a new piece to place into the hole. There is carpet binding tape available at most craft stores to bind the seams together. When placing the new piece, be sure the weave goes in the same direction.
