Q:When I vacuum area rugs the vacuum makes an unbearably loud noise. I assume the suction from the vacuum is actually sucking up the rug itself. What can be done about this? The noise is absolutely horrific and it doesn't pick up any dirt while it is happening.: if it has a beater bar it is probably getting stuck the carpet is wrapping itself around it take the carpets outside and beat them unless you have another vac. or setting where the bar isnt going around or use the hose part if there is one.

Q:I found a bath rug that is the perfect color for my kitchen but I don't know if it matters that it is a bath rug or not. What is the difference? And would it matter if it was in the kitchen?: The only tme it matters is IF the backing to the rug is latex AND it is going over a vinyl flooring that is light colored. Latex backing will turn the vinyl yellow over time and for some reason, it tends to happen more in the kitchen then in the bathroom. I had a latex backed rug in the bathroom for 10 years, but picked it up and hung it to dry after the last shower of the day. I had the same rug in the kitchen which I picked up and washed whenever it needed it, but it was on the floor continuously for most of the time. The same vinyl was in the kitchen that was in the bathroom and the kitchen vinyl yellowed while the bathroom did not. And, it also happened to several of my renters as well. One of my genuis tenants used a carpet pad underneath the one in the kitchen, she lived there for 6 years and that prevented it from happening to her...

Q:We are almost done painting the living room which has hardwood floors. Covering them was simple...newspaper and tape. How do I go about covering a carpeted floor so that it will stick? Thanks!: Whoa !! ...you dont need to pull the carpet... however it needs to be protected....most common is a canvas tarp sold in paint stores anywhere.....they wont leak thru.. and they are very sturdy so dont worry about tears also there is no need to tape them to the carpet. I am a handyman and painter and have used them for alot of jobs...they never wear out.

It has staples to hold down the wood and all along the edges are those sharp nail things. What I need to know is WHAT all do I need to put down a suitable carpet for my son to play on.Thanks for any and all help!!: Get an area rug, it's far less work. Carpeting is a miserably difficult job, right up there with installing a door or a window. It's really hard on the knees too and you need a special tool. It really isn't fun.
