- It really depends on what you're looking for. Berber's do snag easily and I don't recommend them, and there are many that are expensive. A thick plush with an upgraded pad works/looks great. A medium color that will hide stains (traffic foot prints) is also better, as apposed to light or to dark and they show everything. A good installer will also make it or break it on how long even the most expensive carpets last. Make sure if your room is to large for the roll of carpet that they put the Seams out of high traffic areas. And taking care of the carpet will also make it last longer.

- Q:I have these holes in my carpet in multiple places (dog). To replace it, I was going to use the carpet in the closet. How do I do that (step by step instructions)? Where can I find carpet remenants?
- Take a utility knife and cut out a piece of carpet large enough to cover the hole from the closet. Be careful not to cut out the padding underneath unless you need it where the doggie made the holes. Place the carpet plug over the hole making certain it meets the remaining carpet. You can secure the plug using a hot glue gun or running double sided carpet tape around the edges. Now use your fingernails to blend the fibers on the plug into the fibers of the surrounding carpet. You can find carpet remnants at almost any carpet store, just ask. Also for larger remnants they sell end rolls at the Home Depot and Lowes.
- Q:Is there some kind of carpeting that won't collect dust deep within its root? We're going to have most of our carpeting changed to laminate because I have HORRIBLE dust allergies, but we want to keep the carpeting in the living room and dining room. Is there some kind of hypo-allergenic carpeting?
- Dust is in the air, when it settles it goes into the carpeting and a deep pile will be harder to clean so get a Berber or even a commercial carpet if you can stand it. None of it is hypoallergenic in regards to dust, but some of it is made with less formaldehyde or other chemicals.and may be marketed it as hypoallergenic in that regard. If that's not your problem, then just go with the low pile Berber and a really good vacuum. You might want to let the carpet air out a few days before installation. An area rug with a pile will hold dust too. Its the pile that is deep that doesn't allow the vacuum to get all the dust out. The material, wool, cotton, nylon doesn't matter, its the construction.

- For that priced carpet, budget a minimum of 3$ a s/f for that carpet to be installed with a basic 5 1/2 or 6 pound pad. . Doing those measurements you have 336 s/f. Budget a minimum 1000$. Some times places like HD have specials to install whole house for 99$. This will bring costs down a lot. Closer to the 800$ range. Always budget a bit more for any surprises such as disposal of the old. Rip up if your not doing it and the outside chance of sub floor repair, etc. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. - Try a habitat for humanity restore. You probably have one around there or ask somebody who's doing a reno on their house. You never know.

- Get the yellow pages and look up Furriers and call them. What you are probably looking for is a Sheep skin Rug which is a lot cheaper than a Bear skin. I would not advise you to have sex on it as fur items are very expensive to clean.
