Q:I inherited a never used generator from a family estate with no motor. After a tornado here last fall I've decided to build a gen-set with it and I have a few questions. 1) Does the 1800 rpm generator mechanical specification mean that the required engine rpm must be a minimum, maximum 1800 rpm or both? Could it be more or is the chance to ruin it a possibility? I want to stay safe.2) Obviously I'm assuming the 25 hp engine requirement is a minimum but how much bigger can it be without wet stacking problems?3) With these generator output specifications can I power my household without damaging anything?I was planning diesel (still researching brands) and connecting direct. Thoughts?
It means it has to run at 1800 RPM. output voltage and frequency is dependent on RPM. Usually there is a feedback loop that controls the throttle of the engine to maintain the proper RPM and thus the proper output voltage as the load changes. You have to set that up somehow. Don't know what wet stacking problems means. Depends on your household size. A typical US house uses about 1.2 kW average, but there are peaks much higher than that. If your house has electric heat or an electric range or air conditioning, you will have problems.
Q:I have a Kubota GL7000 portable diesel generator. now I've followed the recommended maint. schedule on it, new fuel filters, oil filters, oil changes, etc. I have just under 1,000 hours on it right now, it smokes a little when it's cold but when it warms up it runs nice and smooth and with no smoke, it seems to me that it's running really solid and I have no complaints or problems, but I'm curious how long a generator like this (2 years old) should last me?
Just give it a lot of love and it'll last a real long time. haha And when it dies, get another. Don't worry about it.
Q:Hi,I read an article and it said This implies, that more or less all customers of Esson, who own appliances dependent on permanent electricity supply, dispose of their own emergency Diesel-generator installed on their premises.I try to understand it, but I think it is grammartically wrong. I think it should be This implies that more or less all customer of Esson, whose own appliances depend on
This not so much grammar as style and choice of words, but anyway here goes: This implies that all (or almost) all of the Esson customs who require an uninterrupted power supply for their appliances use emergency Diesel generators to insure this. You don't have to add to insure this, but it sounds better. Please note that several of the words you had in the original dont have the right meanings or sound unnatural, which is why I changed them. F.ex., in English 'to dispose' means to 'get rid of, to remove, to throw away, to sell', where you mean the opposite, 'to have'!!!
Q:has anyone ever heard of a 50cc diesel engine? if so, where could i get one and how much is it?also, i just want the engine, i dont want the rest of the scooter, bike, etc.
Yes, diesels are common for generators, and they then tend to be small like this. Look for portable generators like for boats, RVs, etc., and then see if the engines are available separately or look up the engine makers directly.
Q:I live in a town home community. The person who loves immediately behind me (the backs of our homes face each other,) has been running a generator from 8am to 10pm every single day for the last two weeks. It is driving me up a wall. It's right outside my bedroom and kitchen. I have complained to the HOA and the town but nothing has been done. He is using a generator to power his whole house because they ran up their electric bill over the winter, didnt pay, and now can't afford to have it turned back on. Is running a generator even efficient? I imagin e spends more on gas every day then he would electric. Why not just sell the generator to pay the bill???
Well it does cost more to constantly run the generator you are right there, unless it is on natural gas then probably not. What has happened is the electric company probably won't let him have service again because he owes them money for the unpaid bills, and he will have to pay the owed money plus late fees to get the power back on. So in his feeble mind he thinks running the generator is sticking it to the man so to say, when really he is only costing himself more money in the end and annoying the neighbors in the process. Sorry but if the HOA or town has no rules on owning and operating a generator there might not be much you can do. He is operating it within what I would call respectable time frames. I am not in support of him running it all the time but it is what it is. You could call the police and see if they could do something but don't expect it to be much.
Q:im an helper mechanic and i ask my boss about it he didntgive me an answer so selfish of him !!!
Reverse power shutdown, can be caused by to low of a frequency or hertz setting, below 60hz., for example 30hz., or cycles. It also can be caused if several generators are on the same line, and one has a much lower output,It will shutdown or trip off on reverse power.Hope this helps
Q:I'm a salesman for a welding supplies company, and a customer is interested in buying a diesel welder/generator for use in the paddock where he can't get electricity. While looking around I've come across a 200amp machine but it says it's a 200amp AC welder. it was my understanding that all welders are DC standard, and the AC current was only on welders to weld aluminum.
At 3000 RPM it would make 50 Hz. not 60 HZ power. My guess is that the speed regulation would not be good enough just because precise regulation costs more. It is rated for 75 Volts. It would probably be cheaper to buy a 10HP generator than try to adapt a welder.
Q:I want to shut it inside a small room, but will it not suffocate ? Which part of the gen set should be moved out of the room ?
This is not a good idea. This generator is more than just loud, it poses a serious health and safety threat. The exhaust gasses from the generator have to be vented to the outside or the carbon monoxide they contain will kill you. Diesel fuel is a fire hazard and without proper fireproofing you will end up with a serious fire. Finally, the generator has to be provided with a separate supply of outside air both to ventilate the space to prevent overheating and to supply air for the engine.
Q:I am looking for back up power generator. Any suggestions?
Hello There are different kinds of power generatorswhat purpose are you looking to fulfill? How big is your home or wherever you're trying to heat? I would recommend a diesel generator as opposed to a gasoline generator. They're more efficient, which also translates to being much cheaper to run. They make silent diesel generators (not 100% silent but decently quiet). If you wanted to do some welding with the generator, you could do that too. This site has several kinds of generators listed gtpower.ca
Q:Hi everybody. well I buyed a welding machine, and I need a portable generator for use the welding machine, but I dont know the generator capacity to use it, if the welding machine is 50 to 250 amps, but I just use from 100 to 200 amps, Can I use a 6000 watss Generator? or I need more power?
About 15KW is needed to run a welder. Preferable is a diesel drive unit. Read the label plate on the welder, it will give the maximum draw needed for the supply side. Double that for the generator rating needed.
