- Q: I built my own, verry successfull HHO gas generator and I want to inject the gas being produced, strait into my car engine but the flame keeps going back into my hose, i have going strait into the air intake carb, and blowing up my generator! I built a little flashback arrestor with gas piping filled with aquarium airstones and that obviously didn't work. - If you mean, convert a gas engine into a diesel - No. Compression Combustion Engines are built much more robustly, which is necessary to handle the extremely high forces. If you mean, changing a gas engine for a diesel - Sure. You may also have to swap out the transmission and axle. For the record, there's a reason why race cars run gas engines, not diesels. Because it's a perfect application for them. Just like diesels are perfectly matched to trucks, semis, generators and locomotives. Edited; In effect - yes, kinda. Gas engines are more inclined to be a variable speed, acceleration engine. While Diesel engines tend to have a narrower range and are slower to increase in speed, while still providing maximum torque. It all has to do with the throttle or lack there of. Gas engine intake charges are throttled, the air and fuel density is variable with the throttle. Diesel engines are NOT throttled, every intake charge is full and complete, and the amount of fuel is variable. So in a side-by-side comparrison, Diesel engines have to be built very strongly, becuse every stroke is full and complete - this adds weight and mass to the engine and (in-part) slows it's ability to change speed. (an object in motion, stays in motion) For example, the other fella stated his sons swapping out a Big Block Chevy, 454 (7.4L) - which weighs somewhere around 300-400 lbs (If I remember correctly ) for a smaller, yet heavier 366 (6.2L) Diesel - which probably comes in more around 400-500 pounds.

I would like to find a stand by generator that i could run off gasoline and use all of it available power. I think this would the most economical solution. In case of propane/natural gas the cost of propane tank installation is significant. The diesel stand by generators are significantly more expensive. So far I have found tri-fuel13kw portable generator that has several outlets. In this case not all the power can be utilized.

- The engine can run indefinitely without needing to stop for a rest provided it is properly maintained and cooled. You should change the oil and filters after every 200 hours operating time. Properly maintained you should expect at least 25-30 years operating time from the engine. Neglected and it could need replacing in less than 10. Not sure what 161 gsm/hp-hr means. Unlikely to be grams, but gallons per horsepower hour would be extremely high. Need to look further into it

- Q: i found a 1998 dodge ram 2500 with turbo diesel Cummings motor, and people tell me that Cummings is the best to get why is that? would $3300 be worth it for this truck?
- well cummins is the best when it comes to pickups. they've been proven over the years with making good motors. Their warranty is good (on ohe engines) you just can't beat them. and depending on the milage and wether it's a 12 or 24 valve you cant beat a CTD. I love minebut if dodge went to cat I'd trade it off in a heartbeat. if it's a 98 4x4 there's a problem with the truck. and if it's a 2wd the milage is through the roof. which is alright i guess. a cummins will run for AT LEAST 500k until it needs an overhaul. it's your call but i'd be suspicious when it comes to 3300 for a 98 12 or 24 valve. they shouldn't be that cheap.

- Wow. Um, hang on. This is gonna take a while to write out. Okay. First, you need to have it all planned out before you can get people on board. Have a blueprint of the bomb shelter and explain how it will work. You should hire an architect or engineer for the floor plans. If it's 25 people then you could have 5 rooms with two bunk beds and a single in each. For air ventilation you could have heavy duty industrial air filters. For food, I would suggest those emergency buckets that have 200 meals in them (they sell them at Costco). You should also have a little farm and fish tank in there do constantly have food replensished. When you have it all planned out then you could put an ad in the paper, Craigslist, or just spread the word. Make sure you write up a contract. I can't believe I answered this.
