- Q: Can I put in fluid and drive to the Service Station or should I have it towed? The fluid flows out as fast as I put it in. Thanks!
- Unless the shop is very close 1/2 mile or less, have the car towed. Overheating a car can cause major internal damage, that will cost a lot more than the tow bill to repair!
- Q: i have a 1994 honda accord lx. i was wondering what the water pump is for and if it goes bad can i still drive around without it thanks
- Honda Guy is right -- the water pump circulates the radiator fluid and ensures your engine operates at the correct temperature. If your water pump goes bad you should NOT drive your car. You can ruin your engine if it overheats. Get it replaced ASAP if it's bad.
- Q: If I were to go to a shop, how much would it cost to replace my water pump? It's a 4.0 6 cyl engine.
- $70-$150 +cost of pump. Most shops have certain maintenance hours for certain jobs. Call around for exact pricing. Honestly, if you have a sockets (metric) and wrenches you can do it yourself in about an hour or two, maybe less. You don't have to mechanically inclind to replace the water pump on the 97 Wrangler. If you do it, I do recommend buying a Haynes/Chilton's book if you don't really have a clue. If you need to buy the tools, book, pump (gasket should come with it), water pump RTV, and coolant. That will still be a lot cheaper than paying somebody. Plus, you will get the joy of doing it yourself. Also, you could put the savings into a high-flow pump, vice original equipment.
- Q: I have a 73 dodge charger 400 cubic inch engine, The water pump broke (causing the fan to chew into the radiator) I replaced the water pump and fan (will be replacing the radiator this week) But the problem I am encountering is the belt for the water pump is lose, How do I go about tightening this?
- On that year and engine, the fan belts that drive the water pump are adjusted by loosening the alternator bolts, and moving the alternator (you may need a pry bar) until the belts are tight. That motor had a fan clutch. If the fan clutch is bad, it will cause a vibration that will cause the wate pump to fail, and as you said Chew the radiator You may want to replace the fan clutch while you are working on the car. It is a lot cheaper than another water pump and radiator.
- Q: Pump house should be equipped with those equipment and valves
- 1. The inlet and outlet of the pump shall be equipped with a control valve, and the outlet shall be equipped with a check valve;2, lower than the pump suction the water tank, water pump entrance to bottom valve, and piping and valves equipped with irrigation. Or equipped with other water pump irrigation facilities.3, more than one pump system should have the total valve and contact valve.4, the corresponding control equipment.
- Q: 55KW how large is the water pump wiring?
- Transmission within 100 meters, 70 square millimeter aluminum cable, or 50 square millimeter copper cable. If you exceed 100 meters, you'll have to add a number to the cable.
- Q: I got my oil changed yesterday and took like a 3 hour drive and back home and had no issues.. today I was at my work visiting and I noticed smoke coming from the engine [sort of more of steam] and a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. The light on the gauge inside the car for the engine temp isn't working but all the other ones are. A mechanic told me it was a bad water pump, but I just want some more opinions. Or if the oil change could of effected that.. My engine coolant wasn't that low but a greenish liquid was really leaking from underneath the car.
- *shakes magic ball* I think its the heater control valve.
- Q: Submersible pump and self-priming pump which is easy to use?
- Dive into the water and leave alone
- Q: Standard said that the fire pump should be certified by fire water pump, fire water pump and living water pump what is the difference? In addition to the brand, the same function of the pump, the impact of its price factors? Please advise Master ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ only feel so hard ah
- 1, fire pump is actually divided into many kinds, such as car, fire hydrant system, spray system, etc., life pump is also, the distinction between them is sometimes difficult to tell the exact. Simply put, the fire pump in its design must meet the corresponding fire requirements, such as pressure, speed, work adaptability, etc., specific requirements can be found in "national standard GB 6245-2006, fire pump Fire, pumps""2, the same function of fire water pump, its price is relatively stable. I personally feel that we must find more manufacturers to understand the reasons for the price difference, and then make a choice.
- Q: I have a 2002 Honda Civic Ex sedan with about 105k miles. Sometime before 110k I need to get the timing belt replaced. At about 95k my mechanic asked if I wanted to replace the timing belt and the water pump. According to the owners manual the timing belt must be replaced, but it simply says check the water pump.I don't want to pay for unnecessary repairs, but I also know that both of these jobs are quite involved, but can be done together fairly easily. Is there anything I can do to check myself or do I just have to trust my mechanic when I take it in. Also, what is the cost difference between the timing belt job and adding in the water pump at the same time?
- just me 1 water pumps last 150k and 15 yrs usually 2 change belt sooner than later 3 if you r keeping car 5 yrs more change wp too 4 its a as long as its apart do it saving future labor
