Q: My car is a infiniti with a 3.0 v6 non turbo stock engine with 210hp stock and i was wondering should I use 2.25 or 2.5 exhaust piping? I have no mods on the car cause they don‘t make any for my model only exhaust and round air filter. All I can do is a exhaust system.
call acura headquarters and see what they have to say. we have done several that have passed the year or mileage they are running about 2500 dollars to rebuild
Q: Can you make a V6 sound throaty and not that crappy putt-putt sound?
Did you dry the pipe on the inside? ONE drop of water will ruin any attempt to solder the joint. What I usually do is put a small piece of bread into each pipe, it will suck up any water. Just make sure, when you turn the water back on, to remove the aerator from one faucet, and run the water through so the bread does not plug up the faucet.
Q: 1. Having to pass smog.2. Not having to pass smog.Thank you.How much HP would increase?
Any tire shop will have wheel weights.
Q: Today it started making a loud lawn mower type sound. I asked a friend he said my exhaust manifold was cracked. Im sure its omething exhaust system related because i can smell the fumes from the car are pretty strong. I havnt hit or run over anything in the road. The only thing i can think of is from driving my car pretty hard the past few weeks. Im always running late to work.2008 Chevy cobalt LT 2.2 engine i think, 106000 miles on it
Easily checked, start the engine and have someone press a rag against the tailpipe. The back pressure will make the point of leaking very obvious. But if you are smeeling it, it probabli is somewhere about the engine. It is of course, dangerous to inhale exhaust gases, especially the carbon monoxide component. You should effect repairs ASAP.
Q: Does installing a aftermarket exhaust system void the warranty on my car?
The only way that it can void the factory warranty if it causes another part of the car to fail. Most situations, it would do nothing to the factory warranty. So you should be ok to put a cat-back system on the car, but I wouldn't take the converter off under any circumstances (Ford turbo diesels are an exception)
Q: I have a 2008 civic and have heard that a muffler or exhaust system can boost power and efficiency.I want to install one of these on my car but don‘t want that ****** ricer noise. Would getting a quiet flow muffler do anything or do I need to get a whole new system
I would just leave it alone. It works fine how it is, if you modify it you might gain 10 horsepower and it will sound like a ricer and cost a couple hundred dollars.
Q: I have a ‘99 nissan maxima. The clutch needs replaced but still works. I recently replaced the exhaust system from the manifolds back with a stock oem system. Since then it doesn‘t seem like my car has the power it should. How can I tell if the problem is the clutch or a restricting exhaust system without pulling the exhaust system back off?
Is the clutch slipping? If not, it's the exhaust system. (If it is, replace it before you have 4 or 5 gears that are all neutral. It's tough driving a car with a blown clutch.)
Q: ok i have a 1997 mustang gt and i currently have glasspacks and they only pop and rumble when the car revs down.i want something that pops and rumbles from when u rev it up to when it revs down but keeps its tone and doesnt drown out i was thinkin about an slp loudmouth is this what im lookin for?
ATTN: Do this first, get your car heated heated up, or run it all day. shut it off, but keep mufflers HOT, get water hose and spray COLD water up tail pipes. It will crack the fiberglass in the flowmaster. Then start it back up and see if that helps, keep doing this until you reach desired sound. PS, if it does not work, look into cherry bombs. PSS, You wont ruin car or truck, and you will have loud sound. Warning, do not keep doing that if you have reached your desired level of sound, cause the next time you do it thinking you may want a little louder sound you can make it too loud very easily.
Q: I have a 2008 civic coupe that i wanted to add a custom exhaust to. I just bought a Apexi N1 Universal muffler because i am worried about Massachusetts Laws against noise polution or discrimination towards loud imports. Anyways, Would the Apexi N1 Catback system have been better than the universal muffler being taken to the shop and having a 2 1/4 custom pipe installed from the Cat back? I‘d say it would be no different, right? Another question, How much different would the 2 1/4 pipe make from the cat back rather than leaving the stock pipe in and just adding the N1 Muffler?I would add a high flow cat but im afraid it wont pass emissions?I would also add a Header but im afraid that wont pass emissions?Doing a complete custom exhaust system would cause nothing but problems with emissions and the police, right?I want to do it up but i want to know what would be the best setup that I could get away with and still pass emissions. Can anyone Help?
No,not if you just riding normal and not aggressive sport tires are a waste if you just easing around. sport tires have more grip for aggressive ridding but because of there soft compound would wear quicker that a harder less grip touring tire that is built for mileage .
Q: I can get a kit for my truck for about 400 bucks, but can a muffler shop do the same thing for probably a little less?what are the benefits of a cat-back system?
Id definetly go to a muffler shop. they can weld it all up sound and safe. Also before you pick a shop look at other guys who have pipes and if you like how they look or sound ask what shop they got it done at and go there. You dont want cheap pipes youll regret it
