- Q: We have a private well with a 40 year old water pump that is rusting away, and sounds like a truck. It's a double jet well pump sitting on a tank, with a second tank to one side that it's also connected to (with a thick pipe). I don't quite understand why there are two tanks (there's a third which is obviously the hot water). I'm guessing one of these is to hold water, and the other to provide air pressure? In any case, the pump runs OK, it doesn't leak, and provides plenty of pressure. It is just unbelievably loud. I've been told that replacing the bearings might take care of this problem, but seeing how the tank the pump rests upon (with a thin tube connecting it to the pump) is rotting away, and the system is older than I am, should I just replace the whole thing?
- It sounds like you have two pressure tanks. I am going to guess that the one under your pump probably went out and instead of taking it out and re-plumbing everything they just spliced in a new tank. You can get a re-build kit for most pumps but it sound like your pump is pretty old and probably being held together with faith and rust and taking it apart might cause more problems. What I would do is price out what the re-build cost and what labor might be against what a new system might be. If you decide to go with a new system I would suggest looking into getting a submersible pump, using the same tank but making sure it is in a good location and plumbed with a union. when your pressure tank finally goes out it is going to weigh a ton and trying to move it around plumbing can be difficult. good luck and happy holidays.
- Q: I want to put a water pump on a horse trough with the pump on the outside of the fence. There is a hose attachement at the bottom of the trough for the intake. I want to have the outake hook back to fall into the top of the water, reducing algae and eliminating mosquito larvae. I have never used a pump before. Need advice on type, size, etc. Thanks!
- A 12 volt water feature pump from a garden center would do the job. Four litres a minute with a shower head on the end going into the trough should give the aeration you need. The head off a plastic watering can would also do.
- Q: Looking for a pro's advice here. My Corolla has developed a strange noise over the past few cold weeks (Highs of 10 degrees max, well below zero at night). The sound would best be described as a cricket-type rythmic chirp noticable during acceleration. I don't believe it's a belt because it comes and goes though it has steadily gotten louder. I vaguely remember this sound being related to a bad water pump I had a few years ago. Do you think this could be the same thing? Three years for a water pump? And do water pumps tend to go out more frequently in the cold weather? Thanks!!!
- Why don't you take it to a pro?
- Q: Hi I just brought a chrysler sebring V6 that needs a water pump. I found a water pump on OKorder for only $30 and it only had 900 miles and it works great. Should I buy it?
- no always go new with water pumps. not a re-man either. always go new, especially with a timing belt driven pump
- Q: I need to do a new water level indicator interface for an experimental rig. I'm going to have the buttons that will start and stop the pump. And a column that will show the percentage of the water level in the experimental rig. Please help. I'm so clueless. And this is my final project. :(
- They're equal (VB and VB6 variations of VB, surely VBA is super high-degree) in the phrases of where they rank within the excessive-stage/low-stage programming language rankings. Java is extra priceless without problems for the reason that it results in other matters (and could be very marketable on it's own), particularly c/c++/c# and net languages like php/javascript which have c-like cyntax. VB.Web and VB6 don't particularly result in so much (although they each support comprehend object-orientation). you can do the identical matters with visual normal that you can do with Java or C++. You are not able to do the identical things in VB as c++. For C# that you would be able to make a small case because it does aid c++-like code (hazardous keyword) but absolutely not VB.Internet (or VB6 most likely). Just are trying doing a C# an identical of stackalloc in VB.
- Q: Water pump for 98 Venture?
- To replace the water pump on the 3.4L Venture calls for 1.3 hours labor (about $130) and the pump is about $30 and it is a good idea to replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system to get maximum life out of the pump and your cooling system about $100 so you would be looking at about $350
- Q: Is there a way to test and see if it is the water pump that causes the car heater to blow hot air one time and then, next time it blows cold air? We flushed the heater core and did other tests, so we do not believe it is the heater core. We left the radiator cap off and ran the car (ford thunderbird..'94) for 20 minutes and watched the antifreeze level come up, but doesn't go down, not circulating. We cannot afford to go to another garage. None of them seem to know what to do anywyas and we keep paying people to fix the heater and it is not fixed. We have put two new thremostats in car, too, figuring that maybe the first one may have been faulty, but should we try that again?
- Note that the main purpose of a water pump in your car is to keep the engine cool. The heat that you get through the heater comes off the smaller hoses on the water pump. If your car isn't overheating chances are the pump is ok. Check your engine temp after the car has ran for awhile. The temp guage should go up when the car is warming up, then the guage will drop when the thermostat opens. It won't drop alot but you should be able to see it. Another thing you can try is to follow the heater hoses to where they go into the firewall and touch them after the car has ran for awhile. If your heater is on full they should both feel about the same temp. There is a control valve on the heater hoses that regulate the flow of water to the heater core and this valve may not be working properly.
- Q: i have changed water pump, radiator and thermotast and it still overheat
- head gasket bad? engine timming off?
- Q: it was fine before the water pump was done garage says it is just a coincidence? but could the water pump effect the heating?
- I am going to think your fan is working and switch. If they changed the water pump, they might have broken some debris or sealant that is clogging your heater intake hose or heater core. I would start with finding the intake and return hoes for the heater core and back flush the heater core. Did this to my old truck and the heater worked really good after that. You did not say what year the car was does it have its own belt for the water pump? is that in working order? GL
- Q: I have a four cylinder ranger with manual transmission. The top pulley was making a squeaking sound the other day and stopping and going. The car stalled out so I had to give it gas for about a minute, and this has happened several more times in the past week. And the car is making a somewhat loud rumbling/clanking noise, which I'm guessing is the bearings on the water pump. So my question is how much will a new water pump cost, I've seen prices quoted on here from $150-$700. Also, it was in the mechanic the other week and I asked him to check the ac compressor and he said it was fine. Thanks
- A water pump for your truck costs $63 at Autozone. I can't imagine where you got those prices at. Take the belt off and turn all the pulleys by hand. You should be able to tell which one is bad. Water pumps don't have bearings. The shaft just rides in a bronze race.
