Q: My Toyota 2006 Sienna has 80K miles on it and I asked the dealer to inspect the vehicle. He suggested that i replace Timing Belt, Water Pump, Drive Belt and Trans Pan Gasket. The cost of the repair comes to $1300 ($460 for Timing Belt, $350 for Water Pump, $140 for Drive Belt $370 for Pan Gasket).I'm caught by surprise with the price quoted and things to be replaced. Is the price quoted reasonable? Are these replacement common for Sienna vehicle with 80K miles? I don't know what could possibly go wrong if these are not changed for couple of months. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle for 100K miles will any of the above get covered under warranty?Any suggestions or advice is highly appreciated/: not sure about the timing belt but water pump seems expensive, so does the drive belt but the transmission pan gasket is a rip off. it should not be $350, those are not that hard to replace. dont go to a dealer for all this, try other mechanics dealer is out to get your money but they will do a good job. other mechanics will do it cheaper but a poor job. if your car has 80K you can possibly go up to 100K, I mean timing belt does need to be checked around there, is your water pump leaking? if not then your wasting money, pan gasket is there a pink oil leak, if so then probably its time for a new pan gasket...

Q: gould water pump model Jo5n: i am assuming you are referring to jet pumps, and not a submersible, you cannot convert a deep jet pump to a shallow. the deep well jet pump has the foot valve down in the well casing. it uses two pipes that go to the foot valve. the deep jet forces water down the well and uses a venturi effect to draw water back up to the tank. the shallow water jet pump only uses one pipe in the well casing. the foot valve is in the pump itself. the venturi is created in the pump itself, and uses a vaccuum type effect to draw water up from the shallow well.

It is also a good idea to have an outside tap on to get air out of the lines. Another thing is, it is a good idea to shut off water to toilets and washing machines before re-starting pump because small debris have a habit of clogging them up. Also i would wash out the blue sponge right before the pump as that can hold alot of dirt as well. Then if not add more water. Q: Im replacing the water pump on my cougar but i ran into a snag. I got the pump unbolted but to take it off, i need to unbolt a bracket that goes behind the power steering pump pulley. I cant figure out how to get that pulley off to take off the bracket. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
