- Q: I installed a new water pump on a Cherokee straight-6 engine, the upper radiator hose is not heating up and the engine is starting to make a funny noise. The thermostat is new and was working fine before. The coolant reservoir is full and no more coolant will drain to radiator / engine. Anyone know why waterpump is not circulating coolant?
- Apparently these guys made a 26-minute video detailing a water-pump swap on a Grand Cherokee. They are both 4.0's, so the procedure is the same.
- Q: i took off the lower unit to fix the gears. im not sure ill be able to put it back on with out knowing how things work in there.so how exactly does the water get pumped. and what does it have to do with the gears, because even though the prop wasn't turning, the water was still pumping.thanks.
- did you put the dot of adhesive on the Keyway to hold it from slipping out of place ? Are the pump plates worn around the impeller ? If you just replaced the Impeller and NOT the whole housing, and plates, that is NO GOOD, you must replace the whole unit.
- Q: Theirs a house on a hill and a pond at the bottom of the hill what kind of pump can pull water 50ft up a hill?
- you could not, if that fifty feet is the vertical height. the optimal height a pump can suck water up is approximately 32 feet. that's constrained via the atmospheric tension and might't get replaced. One option is a pump on the backside interior the pond, pushing the water upwards. yet another is a jet pump, that may take a seat on the appropriate of the hill. It sends a jet of intense tension water all the way down to the pond, and that jet there pushes the water upwards. This must be primed, although. IF the 50 feet is in basic terms the slope distance up the hill, calculate or degree the vertical height, that's all that counts. .
- Q: explain the operation of a water pump....?
- There are a number of different types of water pumps that operate according to different principles. For lots of information, including pictures and diagrams, do an internet search on water pump.
- Q: When should I replace my water pump ?
- usually when leaking or noisy
- Q: After I replaced the water pump impeller in my outboard I fired up the motor and now its not pumping any water through the pee-hole at all and also the prop is spinning in the neutral position (motor seems as if it is in gear and trying to move). Would this be because of the shift rod or the drive shaft not being in the proper position and possibly the impeller is being span the wrong in the impeller housing cup?
- First the impeller -- did you find all of the old one, or are a couple of vanes missing? When you disassemble to put on a new impeller, you must account for all of the old one -- pieces like to be pushed by water into the cooling passages. I like a thin stiff springy wire to run through the pee-hole and up into toe water pickup tube. If you can blow air through the tubes, they aren't blocked. Did you put the impeller on upside down? It only works one way -- as it spins, the outer ends of the vanes should follow the vane, not lead it. When you reassemble, you must get the gear set aligned properly -- When it's assembled properly, the prop will be locked in forward and reverse but will freewheel in neutral. You must turn the blade so the flat of the clutch dog faces up, with the shifter in neutral, as you assemble it. Try it a couple times, you'll figure it out.
- Q: About 2 months ago I started hearing a noise coming from my bathroom that sounded like loud humming every 3 or 4 seconds after I would turn on the water or flush the toilet. I noticed that when this noise happened the water pressure would increase and then it would go back to normal. Then the noise started to get louder. Last night while my husband was taking a shower the water lost pressure and then completely turned off. Now I have no water at all whatsoever except for maybe a few drops when I turn the faucet on. I have a private well and when I bought the house I was told that the well is underneath one of my bedrooms because the house was built on to and they built over the well. I know I can get to the pump from the crawl space. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know what it might be or maybe even how much it could cost to fix?
- can you take pump apart an clean
- Q: Here we have 3 sets of centrifugal pumps, as production water, 2 by 1, because the production is not allowed to stop, so we want to change for a pump, the original two pumps to stop, and three water pumps on the amount, and then stop the pump, but not on the third pumps the amount, do not know what the reason, the master to help, thank you very much..
- You should look at the suction port of the pump, there is no check valve, if there is water will not flow back to the pump bodyIf the pump is not water and not bad, the main reason is that the pump does not flush water, or suction pipe into the air
- Q: School project. My group cannot find this answer.
- Water pumps are rated by output (cfm, gpm), max. suction lift (ft), total head (ft), amount of power used (Hp), and whether they self-prime.
- Q: How tight to a tighten down the bolts on a '86 volvo 240 water pump. The manual I bought doesn't say. The torque won't help me cause I don't have a torque wrench, so just general discription would help a lot. (I stripped the threads on a stud last time)
- the pump is held on with 6mm x 100 thread pitch nuts and bolts. the best tool to use will be a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and short extension with a 10 mm deep socket [6 point] these bolts are 12-15 ft bs. of torque if you snug bolts down evenly and use only moderate pressure as a final tighten you should be alright. after srarting all bolts let pump relax so the top seal is not crushed
