Q: One repair shop on the phone says I will need new water pump, coolant flush and *850.00. On the other hand the dealer says I may need tow other drive belts (alternator +). Second dealer says I may need a water pump! I do not wish to get stuck with extra costs! any one with experience?
Read your manual. Chances are your camry has treated you very well. Do the same for it. Yes, get a water Pump. It is not that expensive.
Q: I just got a new boat with a diesel engine and I don't understand why there is a coolant tank as well as a water pump? I think the water pump goes to the heat exchanger but what actually cools the motor - how does this stuff work?
this is refered to as a fresh water cooling system. the engine has a coolant tank and a recirc pump that pumps the coolant through a tube and shell heat exchanger, just as a car does through a radiator. instead of air around the radiator, the exchanger has sea(lake)water pumped through it by a engine mounted pump or a pump on a outdrive if so equiped. the engine heat is transmitted from the engine coolant to the exchanger, and out to the sea(lake). this system has many advantages. one of the most important is the fact that salt or brackish water never touches the engine block or components, preventing costly corrosion. secondly it keeps the engine running at a more even or constant temp. this is very important to a diesel as the engine puts out its hp and performance at a set temp. the heat exchanger can have an automatic drain system, draining water out of it and with coolant (antifreeze) in the engine, the boat can be operated in freezing weather without freezing, or draining the block every night. Heat exchangers can be backflushed easier than an engine, and allow the boat to be operated in muddy or contaminated water. (I have seen boats with tandem exchngers in case one plugs up or needs cleaning). gasoline and diesel engines can have exchanger systems, but since diesels inherantly are more expensive and live longer, a heat exhanger system is worth while.
Q: Im having a hell of a time getting the water pumps to work, even when located right next to a water source (i.e. river, lake, ocean, etc). Ive tried various locations and it has never worked for me. ive made sure the game isnt paused and that the pump has power but nothing works. its not as simple to use as the water pumps in the previous sim city games. Can anyone give me a hint? ive been looking everywhere for a definitive answer.
Pumps need to be next to fresh water(rivers, lakes) be powered and have water pipes running from them.
Q: Hi, I'm looking for an affordable pump that can be used to circulate heated water (60 C) through a 12pipe with a diameter about the size of a pencil. Is there a pump out there to match this application? I've come across some small fountain pumps, but they need to be submerged in the 60 C water bath and I'm not sure about the temperature tolerances of it. The model I'm currently looking at is a quot;TotalPond130gph fountain pump model. Thanks
Sounds like you're in quite a predicament there.
Q: where would I be able to find information on how to change out a water pump for that specific type of vehicle and year, as well I had got a stain on the body from road work it seems to be cement how could I take spots out without damaging the body's paint? What are my options thanks...
Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a Haynes Repair Manual. Very detailed, and only about $20.
Q: toyota prius 2002 inverter water pump where is located and how to replace and buy

Q: I am trying to evaluate my well water pump and water system to see if the pump is cycling on/off too frequently. What is the optimal quot;ontime? What is the optimal quot;offtime? I have heard the term quot;short cyclingquot;, but no times were attached. I have heard that too frequent cycling can cause a problem, but, again, no times were attached. How can one tell when the system is working within the optimal/normal range, so that no harm is being caused to the system? Thanks.
There is no optimum time. This is dependent on several factors. Assuming you are pumping into a small tank which is pressurized by the inflow of water from the pump (and the pressure also controls the pump) these reasons can be excessive use of water, the air space at the top of your tank has been absorbed into the water over a period of time and the volume of compressed air too small causing the pressure to drop too fast, or you could have leak in your water piping. If there is not enough air space in your tank, the pump will cycle extremely fast. If you don't have a tank, then the above information is incorrect. Good luck.
Q: I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why? Problems started when our car overheated due to neglecting to refill the coolant a while back. The coolant tank got cracks in it and we had to replace it- but now the water pump is leaking, says my husband- should we just replace the water pump or could this be a bigger problem? Why is it leaking all of a sudden now? (please no snarky rude answers , I'm looking for help not to be scolded! Yes we neglected to add more coolant-- damage is already done so don't bother making a ridiculous comment about it!)Thanks!
Having to top up the coolant means there was a leak, likely a small one from the water pumps seal. Change the water pump a.s.a.p.
Q: i drove up a hill which was about a mile and when i got up the hill i drove anther half a mile to my location and as soon as i tuned my car off i notice coolant leak for the reservoir tank and being dumb i took the cap off off and i think you know so i drove it home after letting it return to a lower temp and it didn't run hot it just raised 2 line above the middle marker and i ran it today just to idle and refilled the tank and let it run it didn't leak but the Serpentine belt made a noise not loud but noticeable (could this be a bad water pump and i flushed my radiator before they swapped engine out which was not long ago) the current engine is used and run fine with power and pep
water on the belt will cause it to slip and squeak or squeal if the water pump is failing the it woukd be overheating all the time and or leaking water and or be noisy due to bearings failing
Q: I need a new timing belt and I'm getting that done soon, but my mechanic says that water pumps are usually replaced along with the timing belt at the same time. Does it really need replaced?
What kind of car? That info would help. Well, usually on most import cars and some domestic, the timing belt runs the water pump. If this is the case, then yes i would be replacing the water pump with the timing belt because if you don't then when the pump leaks you'll end up paying almost the same money again for water pump job.
