- Q: My boyfriend told me that my car needs a new water pump. He said this because when you start the car, it sounds like trickling water is coming from somewhere in the engine bay. The car overheated once before and he put coolant in it, ever since then, it hasn't overheated. But last week he told me that I shouldn't drive it at all because the pump is about to go. I went out today and started it to see if I can hear the quot;grindingnoise that I read about online and all I hear was the trickling sound. It's rainy outside so I can't tell if the pump is leaking water from the quot;weepquot;. Is it the water pump? I want to make a two mile round trip to go pick up sushi and the place is a mile there and a mile back. Will I seize my engine or get stranded if I make this tiny trip? Is it my water pump?
- Nicky, There are usually only two reasons to change a water pump and it's easy to check both of them. #1. With the car on ramps or jack-stands crawl underneath and look at the water-pump weep hole on the bottom of the input shaft casting. If coolant is leaking out the hole the pump needs replacing. Coolant will leave a perfect track from the weep hole the same color as the antifreeze. #2. Remove the serpentine belt and spin the water-pump by hand. If it spins with no noise or a lumpy bearing feeling in your fingers the water-pump is fine! While the belt is off, spin all the accessory pulleys to hear and feel if there are any bad bearings.
- Q: mechanic says the bearings are going on the pump, and they might as well replace the thermostat while they are there.my question is he right?do they have to remove the engine to replace either the pump or the thermostat?seems like a lot of $ for a what should be a simple job ($450).thanks for your help!
- ok well the water pump is a pretty easy fix if you pop the hood and look to the left side of the engine you will see your serpintine belt the water pump is the pully on top closest to the front of the car and that is prob like an hour to an hour and a half repair. now your thermostat is on the opposite side of the engine buried under your throttle body and is labor intensive possibly up to 3 hrs so if i was you, and i had a relitivly new grand am and the bearings were gone in the water pump i would leave the thermostat alone and fix the pump, why fix whats not broke especially if its gonna cost alot. chances are you dont need a thermostat. at NAPA it will cost like 25-35 dollars for the water pump. dont bother with the thermostat.
- Q: Stop the engine immediately and stop the circulating pump and the condensate pump. What's the harm to the turbine?
- The condensed water is also used to air pumping device, steam seal cooler as cooling water, according to rules of turn. The circulating water is also used to supply cooling water to the oil cooler, and the oil temperature will rise.Hazard: exhaust pipe, condensate pipe will burst tube, low pressure cylinder rising temperature for deformation, rotor (shaft seal) may be deformed.
- Q: I have a Miniworks EX Water filter with a ceramic filtering element. It has been used a few times without problem, but I am wondering at what point should I replace my ceramic filter? The replacements are $40 and I can't find any information regarding replacement times--only cleaning information. Does this filter need to be replaced often?I've always pumped from a clear river way up in the mountains and the flow is decent.
- If the sparkling out is new, or notwithstanding if it somewhat is been wiped sparkling with cleansing soap, the sparkling out will pump out foamy soapy water. in simple terms maintain to pump water by it until eventually at last it somewhat is flowing sparkling and sparkling. shouldn't take greater effective than 15 pumps grant or take a pair of.

- Q: My 93 Ford t-bird over heats and i really don't know what could be the problem, the radiator is working fine, and also the fan and the thermostat, i don't think is a head gasket because the oil looks alright with no contamination and there is no steam coming from the exhaust im beginning to suspect the water pump but the weep hole is not leaking. So does a water pump MUST leak from the weep hole if it is bad, or it could be bad and not leak? thanks in advance...
- Water pumps fail with some regularity--you can expect to replace yours sometime before 100,000 miles, if not sooner, and here's how to do it.Step2Locate the water pump pulley. The pulley is the round part that the belt is attached to. To find it, look for the belts. You will see more than one pulley. Your car will have an alternator with a pulley and perhaps an air conditioner power steering and smog pump pulleys. If you are unsure, ask your mechanic to point out the water pump pulley. Step3Grab opposite ends of the round pulley and check for play (looseness): Try to rock it back and forth. There should be no give. If there is, the bearings are going and it's time to replace the water pump. By the time you can feel play in the water pump pulley, you may also be able to hear the bad bearing when the engine is running - there may be a low-pitched grinding noise coming from the water pump pulley. Step4Visually check the water pump (it's located behind the pulley) for signs of a coolant leak. If the water pump gasket is leaking, it must be replaced. This is a good time to get a new water pump, too, unless it was just recently replaced.
- Q: TDH what units are present in the pump parameters?
- Answer: TDH stands for single pole double suction horizontal chemical process pump, suitable for conveying clean or containing micro solid particles of ultra low temperature or high temperature liquid medium, is also particularly suitable for conveying strong corrosive medium. All facilities for horizontal installation are available.Mainly used:Petroleum smelting plant, petroleum conveying equipment and pump used in petroleum deep processing devicePump for coal chemical processPumps for water and desalination systemsPumps for fuel coal fired power generation equipmentSewage treatment and environmental protection pumpStructure characteristics:Pump in the horizontal opening, suction and discharge pipeline is located in the lower half of the pump body. The disassembly and replacement of the wearing parts and the replacement of the rotor parts can be performed without disassembly of the pipe.Double suction impeller, high efficiency, good cavitation performance, axial force is basically balanced.Rigid axle shaft and bearing, double end support, small deflection, small vibration, low noise, oil lubrication of rolling bearings with oil ring, constant level oiler automatic control level, and can get automatic compensation, radial thrust ball bearings back-to-back bear residual axial force. The sealing ring of the shell is provided with a stop and a step, and is arranged on the pump body and the pump cover, so that the assembly and disassembly are convenient.
- Q: Installation position of check valve for water pump
- Check valves are generally installed at the pump outlet and exit control valve position. Self suction pump check valve installed in front of the pump, suction port better!Ordinary centrifugal pump check valve flange from the pump outlet flange is generally 300mm-500mm, its purpose is: when the pump is stopped, to prevent backflow of water to the pump body in the pipeline, resulting in the impeller reversal (generally positive rotation is more impeller impeller and shaft tight) that damage the impeller and pump head. Therefore, the height can not be too high, too high, there are too many water reflux, the consequences can be imagined. But there are self suction pumps, self suction pumps, check valves, flanges, pumps from the body, the outlet flange generally 1 meters to 1.5 meters. This is determined by the structure and working conditions of the self-priming pump. Self suction pump start, the pump is a gas at first, the main purpose is to exhaust the rotation of the impeller, will also play out some of the water, this time need to exhaust gas, water will need to return, if the valve is installed in the 300mm-500mm, then a lot of water can not return to the pump body (can also cause check valve is closed), effect of self suction pump work.Self suction pump check valve installed in the suction port of the pump better, this is not upstairs nine, brother said, must be installed in the export, this is wrong. Installed in the inlet of the purpose: it is time to stop the pump, there is generally no reversal of pump impeller, but to prevent the pipeline inside emptying (fluid inside the pipe can be in pipe) is beneficial to the self suction pump for a restart! Therefore, the self-priming pump check valve is best installed in the inlet pipe of the suction port.
- Q: Ok, I took my '93 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L in to get the serpentine belt replaced, as the old one had snapped. They told me that the water pump had locked up and that's what made the belt break. The thing is, I had to get the radiator and water pump replaced this past summer and I am wondering what might've made my water pump lock up since it is new. The Jeep has a lot of miles and I'm slowly having to fix a lot of things, so I'm trying to be sure that I don't fix the pump just to find another problem. Also, the repair place told me the water pump looks brand new, so I know that it was definitely replaced, but should I contact the place the fixed the pump and radiator and see if there's some sort of warranty on the pump?
- Warranty on the first pump has run out, you won't get any help there. Parts, even new parts do fail, that's why manufacturers offer warranties. I would suspect however the pump that was installed was a rebuilt unit, and perhaps the re builder didn't properly grease the bearings. Another possibility for early failure is the belt being adjusted up too tightly which will wear bearings out quickly. When it is repaired this time, push on the top of the serpentine belt to see if it has some deflection. There should be about 1/2 deflection along the longest run of the belt.
- Q: Horizontal pumps, vertical pumps, which kind of expensive?
- The same type of single pump is cheaper than verticalMultistage pumps are the opposite
