Q: Hello! Can someone please tell me where the water pump is located on this vehicle? Or where I might find the answer to this question? Thanks!
water pump is located on pass side of the motor right where serpentine belt is
Q: my basement flooded and the water came in contact with the wiring on my water pump. Now the pump tries to turn on but shuts off without pumping any water. How do i get my pump pumping water again?
sounds like the bearings locked up...best to replace it
Q: I would like to ask the river for about 70 degrees on the steep slope pumping 170 meters, flat 40 meters into the pool, what should I choose water pump? How many heads? How to choose the water pump model? Thank you
Pump selection parameter:1, lift, if the head is large, the use of multi-stage vertical centrifugal pump, if the head is small, the use of horizontal axial flow centrifugal pump2. Displacement3, suction stroke, if the suction range is short, select the submersible pump, suction distance, select centrifugal pump
Q: I recently bought a 1992 Honda Accord. It has high mileage but the records kept on it were impecable up to about the last 3 years. I have read that you need to replace the timing belt/water pump every 80k miles. However; I do not know when it was changed last. The Only record in the book on the subject was back at 90k miles. That was the first time they had the timing belt changed. So How do I know its time to change it again? The car now has 199k miles. I do not want to do unnecessary work before time, however; I also know that the affects it will have on the engine is great if its not done within the right TIME! Is there anyway to know it needs to be done? What kind of signs will the car give? And how much is it going to cost me when it has to be done? Thanks!
A water pump is mostly pretty obvious when it is going/gone it chirps it squeaks and your temperature will usually be higher than it usually was [not always]. As for a timing belt... they are relatively inexpensive, the labor isnt that bad since the car is VERY easy to work on, and it is difficult to tell when one is needed since the most it will make is a whining noise when its getting weaker, only sometimes though. This is hard to hear too. Best advice I have is to just get a couple appraisals/estimates, or have a friend who is mechanically savvy take a look to see if he/she can tell if the belt is worn to the point where it needs replacing. I had a timing belt done for $120 parts and labor on a 91 accord (same car)
Q: Where can I get a water pump housing for a 1987 Dodge Dakota, A junk yard?
Not sure what you mean by housing. Nobody is going to have just the housing. The entire Water Pump is available from Autozone, from $22 - $63 depending on type and warranty. The severe duty and new pumps are special order/available to ship. The standard reman is available in store, at my local store at least. Same pump as the 5.2L and 5.9L V8's. Can't be that hard to find. This is assuming of course, you have the 3.9L?
Q: I'm only 18 and don't know much about cars, but my car was overheating so me and my boyfriend brought it to a mechanic. They told me it needs a new timing belt and water pump and that alone would be like 1450.. From my research that sounds like bullshit. By the way I drive a 2000 neon, is it THAT hard to work on, or am I being ripped off?
i think those neons have problems with the plastic inside the timing cover breaking apart. Some form of plastic guide I think. I've replaced that for about 20-30 dollars and the water pump for around 35 bucks. The shop you went to is raping you as most shops in america do. They claim that they need to eat too yet they want steaks while the rest of us eat soups. You'd be best off finding someone you know who is reputable with car repairs and see if he or she would be interested in doing the repairs. You can find people like this all over the place. You should also perhaps check around with some other shops regarding your car and the repairs. Maybe you'll find someone to do it for around 500 or less. If you were near me I'd do it for 200 tops. and no, the dodge neon isn't crap to work on.....like a little riding mower in my opinion. Is your timing area making noises like something rattling around? If so it's that plastic piece I told you about. But check around and always remember that most of these shops with their outrageous repair costs don't provide vaseline for free.
Q: The car water pump is broken. What are the symptoms?
Car water pump damage, water temperature will rise sharply
Q: i need to change my water pump on my vw 1990 gti. the more details and/or pictures the better or links i can go to to show me
Buy a repair manual. Or better yet buy a lifetime replacment one at Autozone and they will print out a step by step (with pictures torque specs) instructions for you. :)
Q: Horizontal pumps, vertical pumps, which kind of expensive?
Relatively speaking, the horizontal is expensive, because there is a horizontal chassis, if there is a large pump case, the best selection of horizontal, otherwise the weight of the motor to the pump body smashed!
Q: i know a little bout cars always fixed my own since day one but this is the first car i have ever had/workd on with a internal water but thats driven off timeing chain my cars running hot and its holding prusser so i know its not radator or hoses but i need to know a way to check and make sure its the water pump befor i go tearing the engine apart
In the olden days when the fan was attached to the front of the water pump, you could hold the fan by either side and see if it moves at all.If theres movement of the shaft then that usually means the bearings are worn. The more it moves the worse it is.Not much help if you got thermo fans though.
