- Q: I got a water pump replaced a few month back, ( i own a 95 Honda civic) i have a wierd muffled rattle coming from that part of my car, i was told by a mechanic that it sounds like a bearing is dried out, he says that it wont affect the water pump itself but the ratlle will remain ... is this true . . .
- A 'dried' bearing is sure to fail. Bearings without lubricant don't last long. I'm having trouble with my new waterpump. Bought it from AutoZone and it's already squeeling after 6 months. My water pump has a tensioner pulley built on to it. That's where my noise is coming from.
- Q: I think my water pump has crapped out on my 1997 Jeep Cherokee. I have been leaking coolant for a few days now and there is a puddle under my Jeep after I turn it off and my reserve tank keeps emptying out on me. I replaced the lower radiator hose and still the same problem. It is not over heating so I am wondering if it IS a water pump problem? If it is, could I do the work myself?
- Alright, 1997, more than likely it's a 4.0, I6 engine... the water pump is a little difficult to get to... because the amount of special tools that you would need, because you have to take off the fan that is connected to the water pump, which you need special tools for. and most tools that you can get for home won't do the job for pulling the pump off. First, to see if it's your water pump... take your belt off the engine... Just one pully will do, and then spin your FAN that is connected to your water pump... if you hear a metal sound like the bearings are no longer good, then you need a new one. Now the most common problem is your thermostat gasket would blow out, if it's the I-6 engine, right on the front on the top is where that is. Look around there to see if there is evidence of a leak, you would also want to look around the water pump cause it just could be the seal. that would eventually get to the ground from there too, You would not probably want to try anything except maybe a hose or a thermostat seal on your own, it's best to do the rest in a shop... just in case, because anything can happen, even when it's a professional. but if they break it on you they have to replace it for free. Unless you have All the tools that you could need, you shouldn't try to do it in your driveway. Good luck and I hope it's not really your water pump!
- Q: 1995 Ford Contour GL, 2.0L 4Cyl- three water pump failures. I bought the car in 2000 [49,000 miles] and in 2003 [116,000 miles] a leak from the weep hole area was repaired by replacing the pump. In October, 2005 [164,000] another leak from the same place was again repaired by replacing the pump. Just over two years later now, 196,000 miles, and today it's leaking from the same area. Any idea why this would happen? Each time I've replaced the pump, I've not been able to see any damage to it. People talk about impellers breaking, but they've always seemed intact. Maybe it isn't a pump failure so much as a leak for some other reason? Since purchase, the car has run what appears to be hot, in that the temperature gauge, when at operating temps, is only a tick or two from overheating, but since it's in the normal range, I've always assumed it's just a faulty thermostat. It's never overheated except for when the leak has sprung up.Any thoughts? :)
- nicely, you probably did numerous sturdy issues, yet there is something incorrect with your rigidity cap. it rather is what controls the rigidity on your gadget, until eventually you have a leak some the place. it would additionally be the reason on your overheating, because of the fact after it gets warm it somewhat is going to easily blow the water out of your cap. automobiles are made to run at or close to the boiling element. The radiator cap keeps the super heated water interior the gadget. automobiles want severe temperature to help in burning the gas thoroughly. it rather is ordinary for you vehicle to get some ranges warmer than your thermostat putting. you basically have been given to get a cap and verify the neck of the radiator. You gotta carry that rigidity.
- Q: Home water well is artesian, to holding tank. I am needing to replace my pump yearly. Inside of the pump is rusted, this causing a real loud whining sound before failure. Pump motor isn't failing, the inside of the pump ends up freezing loosing the ability to spin.Any suggestions as to why?
- that's a vague description of the pump. theres several types of pumps too. you need to either shield the pump, or move it to a different location, so its nots moist and damp all the time. drop a sand point down to the well, seal the well from the pump , or buy a different type. call a well service and ask them your options. good luck man! gee, that must get expensive.
- Q: i have a jetta and would like to know how difficult it would be to do. I know its a german car this is why i ask. thanks
- The water pump is driven by the timing belt on that engine. You don't have to take the alternator, power steering pump, or the a/c compressor off, but you do have to make sure it is timed right. Not too hard to do, just make sure the marks line up. Good luck!
- Q: How do I tell the difference between a long and a short water pump? I have a Chevy 350 V8, a crate motor the same size is going in very soon. How do I tell which one I have so that I can get the correct brackets, accessories, etc.?
- The short water pump body measure about 3 1/8, while the long pump measures about 4 3/4. That's measured from where the pump bolts to the block to the outside part of the casting. Not including where the shaft is. If you're looking straight down over the motor and it has a short pump, then the front of the timing chain cover and the rear of the pump are almost on the same line. If it's a long water pump, then looking down there would be about a 7/8 space where you can stick your finger. But don't do that, you could hurt yourself. :-) Hope this helps.
- Q: where t is in minutes since the pump is started. If the holding tank contains 1000 liters of water when the pump is started, how much water does it hold one hour later?
- Water is pumped out of a holding tank at a rate of 4-4e^(-.14t) liters/minute. Lets call that function w(t). So if we integrate w(t) over a time period that will give us the total water removed over that time period. So lets integrate it from t=0 (time when pump started) to t=60 (one hour later): ∫ w(t) from t=0 to t=60 ∫ w(t)=∫ 4-4e^(-.14t)=4t+(4/.14)e^(-.14t) evaluated from 0 to 60 ∫ w(t)=4(60)+(4/.14)e^(-.14*60)-4(0)-(4/.1... ∫ w(t)=211.435 liters removed If the holding tank began at 1000 liters and 211.435 were removed... Remaining water=1000-211.435 ***Remaining water=788.565 liters***
- Q: Is it a good idea to turn my pond water pump off at night and back on during the day to lower my electricity bill?
- Total Pond Pump
- Q: Can I use Ultra Blue gasket maker on a water pump? The packaging is not labeled high heat.
- Yes, but you have to let the gasket maker cure for at least 24 hours. After you have driven it for a couple days, be sure to re-tighten the flange bolts, as the gasket maker will shrink with heat, causing possible leakage. Good Luck !
- Q: I have a 1997 mazda 626 4cylinder. For a while now, my hot n cold gauge keeps wobbling back and forth. I was keeping water in it and it was fine. A week ago it went all the way to hot and started smoking. There is water gushing out right beside the pulleys. I'm not sure if it is the water pump or not. Now, my car won't crank. Someone told me that it was the rotor button, but i can't tell if it is bad. I don't really want to take it to a mechanic. Can someone help me?????
- That's what happens to water pumps, they start leaking and you loose coolant. When the gauge started acting weird that should have been your first clue. Unless you or someone you know can replace the pump you will need to take it to a mechanic. When you said it would not crank, did you mean the engine is seized up or just would not start, there is a difference.
