Q: Can I put in fluid and drive to the Service Station or should I have it towed? The fluid flows out as fast as I put it in. Thanks!
Unless the shop is very close 1/2 mile or less, have the car towed. Overheating a car can cause major internal damage, that will cost a lot more than the tow bill to repair!
Q: Give me a general intro. about submersible water pumps.
Submersible pumps are among the pumps used for pumping liquids from a sump or reservoir at low level. The non-submersible pumps are placed above the the liquid level. Submersible pumps are immersed in the liquid in the sump. The submersible pumps have positive suction head while the submersible pumps have negative suction head.
Q: Had my car in to the shop this morning, it's a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2. The water pump and radiator need to be replaced, and they said they can do it for $380. Is this a reasonable price? Also, if I don't get them fixed right away, am I risking a lot of permanent damage to the engine?
If that includes labor rates, then that is a heck of a deal. But as far as causing any damage by delaying this repair, not really, just when the water pump fails and your car overheats. The radiator is probably just leaking and as long as you keep fluid in it, then you are fine.
Q: We just replaced the motor on our water pump that burnt out but we are still getting no water pressure. My father in law did a lot of test stuff on it he thinks it's the foot valve. Well I've been trying to call every where get quotes but NOT 1 of the places I called is answering their phone for some reason. So how much dose it usually run to have someone come fix your foot valve so I have an idea to tell my husband?
A very good foot valve will cost about $20 then it will be the cost of a service call, here we charge about $70 but depending on where you live, how deep the valve is and where its located the price maybe different, and the cost maybe more on a weekend too. Giving quotes for this is not really profitable for service companies, so if you are not prepared to do it yourself then you will have to pay the service call rate. A good reputable company will arrive at your home and give you an approximation on what it will cost, but remember once you call them there you will probably have to pay the service call rate, if you are running tight on money call around and ask the rates but remember that this is a weekend and most companies will be running a small crew and might take time to answer your call. The other option is since you have changed the pump yourself why not just change the foot valve your self? Have you primed the pump after replacement? To replace the valve the pipe that runs to the bottom of your well must be pulled up and the valve is on the bottom of it, its a simple matter of removing the old one and replacing with new the big job is usally the pulling up of the pipe.
Q: Pump pumping small is what happened?
Multi pass is self-priming pump, right? Check that the water inlet pipe is connected. If there is a little leakage, the lift will not be high. If the submersible pump, impeller pump or screw pump, they do not have irrigation. If it starts small and then flows, it may be that the water in the well is not rising so fast, that is to say, the water is poor. This happens, too. If it starts small, which may be the well did not hit the good position. Suggest a little more. Is it used in your house? Still have other uses?. For home use. A bucket of water is enough.
Q: I have a 1997 mercedes 320e and it is leaking very bad. I need a temporary fix for the water pump, so that I can take it to the repair shop that is 10 min. away.
You can't fix the water pump temporarily, but what you can do is store a lot of extra water in your car and stop to refill the radiator as needed. If the leak isn't too bad, you can probably make it ten minutes away without having to refill at all. If it's a bad leak, you may need quite a bit of water. I have done this before and it worked pretty well for me. Good luck!
Q: 2 pumps in parallel, lift the same, the pump head is not stacked; 2 pumps in series, the same flow, pump head is not superimposed?.
2 pumps parallel, lift the same, pump head is not stacked?;Answer: the head can not be superimposed, that is, a lift and a pump, but the pumping speed (flow) is two times a taiwan.2 pumps in series, the same flow, pump head is not stacked?.Answer: the head can be superimposed, that is, the pump head is two times as much as a pump, but the pump speed is the same as that of a pump.
Q: I have oil all over my water pump. I investigated when I saw a few drops of oil in the garage that showed up every few days. I then saw a drop of clean radiator fluid. Does oil come near or through the water pump? I have a 96 nissan maxima if that helps.
The first place a car will leak oil is usually the valve covers. Regular maintenance requires valve adjustments, and to do this, the valve covers come off a few times in 10 years. If you have a four syllable motor, the front of the valve cover is right above the water pump, so a valve cover leak would dribble down the water pump. Your water pump could be leaking (if you've never replaced it in the 10 years since your car was made). I'd bet you have both problems. I'm too soon old, and too late smart, so I've let water pumps go because it's only leaking a little. When the shaft begins to get wobbly, it will let loose with a caBANG! and damage something when it flings off the fan. Moral to the story: Replace the water pump, and get a new gasket for the valve covers.
Q: I have a '97 Grand Prix with a 3800 V-6. There is a single bolt on the left side of the water pump that is directly behind the power steering pump pulley. How do you get the PS pump pulley off? I pulled a tricep trying to get this thing loose, and I'm no further now than when I started on it. Can anybody give me a tip on removing the pulley or the whole PS pump? I have a brand new water pump that I can't get on because of this fine piece of design by the brilliant engineers at GM!
you dont have to pull the power steeing pulley off...There three holes in the power steering pulley that allow access to two or possible three bolt that hold the pump to the bracket... Remove the belt, then get a deep either 13 mm or 10 mm socket and place it in one of the holes in the pulley...you will find that when you remove the bolts, the pump will slide out of the way.... Do not remove any powersteeing lines or any other item from the power steering pump..You will only be causing yourself more work..... The brillant engineers at GM left you an out...All you have to do is look...ha ha
Q: Had house power washed today and need my water to work again!
I am assuming that the breaker for your water pump is in a disconnect box on the exterior of your house. If the disconnect is wired to code the disconnect would be fed with a line that also has breaker in your main panel. If this is the case the first thing you should do is identify this breaker and turn it off. Don't go by any labeling on the panel. Use a tester to make sure power is completely off in the disconnect. If power is off you can then pull the breaker out and dry it off. You can also dry the enclosure with a towel. When everything is dry reinstall the breaker and turn power back on in main panel. If it still pops in disconnect, it would be wise just to buy a new breaker , they are not that expensive. Not necessary to start using cleaning sprays. This procedure should solve your problem if everything has been wired to code. If you are not sure about anything I have described, please call a professional. Good luck.
