- Q: why is there a ridge in the middle of my motorcycle tire?
- its the seem where they poured the mold, there shouldn't be a ridge, take it to a tire place and get it looked at,
- Q: I pulled a nail out of my motorcycle tire and its not leaking, should I still replace the tire?
- sounds like the nail did not go through the tire what is the shape of the tire? if it is in bad shape replace it . if the tire is in good shape take soapy water and make sure it is not leaking
- Q: My car broke, and I am interested in getting a new vehicle. I have been thinking about buying a motorcycle, but I have been reading the winter salt and sand might be really bad for motorcycles. I only want one vehicle so I would ether get a car or bike.So my question is, would buying a motorcycle and riding it during the winter destroy my bike and make it not worth it? Is corrosion bad or minimal.can I prevent it?
- You can do a lot to protect the bike during winter. Corrosion can be pretty bad, so it would require more maintenance during Winter, than during Summer. How badly does it snow where you are? if the snow is a minimal or nonexistent problem, then it won't be that bad, but if it snows a lot, then a car will be a better choice for you for the winter. I would be more concerned with safety during the winter, than maintenance, with the issues of normal ice on the roads and black ice.
- Q: Theres a small spot in the middle of my rear tire that has some exposed thread under the rubber, it‘s not very big just one spot about an inch long tops and maybe two(25?) quarters thick. My question is, will it be safe to ride today without catastrophic failure? The shop is closed monday (today) and im getting a new tire tomorrow, but I want to know if I can still ride until then. This is not a question for debate about tires. It‘s getting replaced tomorrow. The rest of the tire is fine no bad wear really just the one small spot it was scuffed. Thanks.
- If you have cord showing in one spot, the tire is obviously completely bald in the centre all the way around. The tire has been unsafe for quite some time now. The risk of getting a puncture is also quite high. I wouldn't ride on it, but the choice is yours. I currently have 3 wheels from my bikes in the trunk of my car, waiting to go to the shop for new rubber tomorrow? Why? Because the tires are finished, and it would SO ironic to have a tire failure on the way there.
- Q: which brand of rear motorcycle tire holds up the best for a cruiser?
- I've had good service out of Avon Venom. Dunlop E3 is also a good tire.
- Q: What are the dangers of using a car tire for the rear motorcycle tire?
- It used to be done quite often. The old Volkswagen tires had a slightly rounded profile. The one very impotant thing that needed to be done in the past was to make sure you had the right rim, as motorcycle and auto rims were different. I don't know how/if that applies today. Tires have changed greatly over the last couple of decades. From a post in your link: I hear people like the rounded edge profile of the Potenza, but believe me, it will never touch the road, with a CT the sidewall flexes in curves and the whole tread stays planted, that's why the handling feels so solid, you'll never lean it over enough to get onto the shoulder of the tire, your pegs and/or frame will hit before that happens. As with ANY mod, checking the fit and suitability of parts is key. So is awareness that it will be different from stock when you ride it.
- Q: Looking for the Best wet / dry handling tires. Getting High Mileage from them is not my 1st concern. Choosing from: Avon Storm ST, Michelin Pilot Road 2CT, Metzeler Roadtec Z6 Anything else worth looking at?
- Go for a Pilot Road 2 on the back and a Pilot Power or Metzeler M3 on the front. Great grip in the wet (and dry) and you should get at least 10,000kms from them. I tried an Avon Storm and it was disappointing. Worn out by 6000 and not very grippy. Haven't tried a Z6 but have heard they last very well but again, the grip is not so great. You will be able to take the PR2 right to the edge with confidence. The PR2 front tyres last exceptionally well (18000km from my last one) but it seemed to go off before the tread wore out. Felt very wooden towards the end of its life. I now run an M3 on the front and rear but will be switching back to a PR2 for the rear as I do too many highway miles and it has just been wasted.
- Q: Im motorcycle novice rider & like to know what kind of tire I should use on rainy days to avoid skidding. TY
- An easily dissolved rock, such as chemically precipitated limestone (CaCO3). Moving water (can be moving slowly) containing a dilute amount of hydrochloric acid (HCl), which will dissolve the rock. As the rock dissolves, it will leave behind huge peaks, deep sinkholes, etc. This can also reference other types of sedimentary rock that can be removed by water, but the classic karst comes from the dissolution of limestone.
- Q: I‘m using trail wings right now but they don‘t last very long.Is there something better? The bike is a BMW F650 (1999)
- firelli best maybe.not much idea.
