- Q: How hard is it to change the back tire on this motorcycle? Would it be better to take it to a shop? They want to charge me $212.00 to change it for me. Any info appreciated:)
- To get the wheel off the bike, the rear end has to be jacked up enough for the tire to clear the fender. If you think you can jack it up enough, go for it. Then bring the wheel to the shop and let them change the tire for $50.
- Q: I bought a used bike and it has the original tires on it. it is 18 years old and the tread on the tires is really good. it‘s barely been used. the mechanic i took it too said that since the tires are so old, once i start riding it a lot the rubber around the seems will start to crack. i don‘t know much about tires or fixing things for that matter, does this sound logical? or is this guy just trying to get an extra 300 bucks?
- The 18 year old tires are not safe they are probable dry rotted and may blow out at long highway speeds. No he is not trying to get your money he is trying to save your life. Buy new tires.
- Q: I ran into the most stubborn tire last night when trying to break the bead with tire irons. So overnight I sprayed one area with silicone, one with basic G and poured Marvel mystery oil on another. This morning it broke lose where the Mystery oil was used. 30 years ago we used brake fluid as a lubercant. Anyone know anything that works better ?And please hold your comments take it to a pro with a machine.
- I use talc. powder as it is less messy and a proper bead breaker to reduce rim damage. In really stubborn cases dishwashing liquid and a rubber hammer.
- Q: When my bike is on the center stand and I spin the tire to oil my chain there is a spot where it binds (is harder to spin) . What causes this? Thanks IA
- Tight spot in chain (where it should be when you adjust it).
- Q: what else does motorcycle servicing include? Thanks guys
- Adjusting tire pressure inspecting/changing spark plug(s) changing oil filter checking operation of front rear brakes checking all lights horn work properly adjusting lubing drive chain or checking drive belt adjustment if equipped lubing cables checking fork seals Checking front fork and read shock operation adjusting idle checking operation of cooling fan if equipped checking tire tread depth checking handlebar for tightness checking steering head bearings for looseness checking spokes if equipped changing rear hub lube if equipped with shaft drive changing transmission oil if separate transmission cleaning/changing air filter These are off the top of my head, please feel free to add anything I missed.
- Q: i drive a motorcycle to work everyday. every time i go home my feet always gets tired, so i lay both my feet straight in the sofa to be comfortable.
- They can be tired because of the work they do to help move the motorcycle but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
- Q: Motorcycle accident and the tire hit my boyfriends arm. how do I clean and care for his arm ?
- Depends on how serious it is.a scrape and a bruise, is no big deal. If he's missing a chunk of flesh or gashes with road trash in the wound, go to the ER. If you don't all the grit and such out gangrene could set in. This would not make him a happy camper.
- Q: I was walking out of a store when I noticed my rear tire looked a little funny. The scallops can only be seen when a certain part of the tire is exposed. The rest of the tire seems fine.
- First thought in my head was an out of balance condition. I have seen this on front tires, but very rare on the rear.
- Q: Im trying to find some atv tires and i found some cheaper ones but it says the tire size is 25X10-12/C and some of them have the C replaced with A or B. What does these letters mean I dont want to buy the wrong tires. My Atv just takes regular 25x10-12 tires. If it helps its a 2006 750 Brute Force if that makes a difference. Someone please help me.
- The letters are similar to the load/speed rating on motorcycle tires. Each letter will suit the weight, horsepower and handling characteristics of the model for which each tire was designed Size Information/OEM Fitment: 25x10-12 1999-2004 Yamaha Kodiak and Big Bear 25x10-12 A 2001-2003 Kawasaki KVF650A/B Prairie 25x10-12 B 2001-2004 Arctic Cat 400/500 4x4 25x11-12 B 1998-2004 Arctic Cat 400i/500i In other words, it really doesn't matter. ATV tires are made for different purposes - sand, mud, hard dirt, snow, quick take offs (hole shots), etc. Choose the style of tire for which the ATV will be used for and the rim size is the most important (12 in your case).
