Q: I was looking at some 190/50/17. Will they fit. And whats the difference between to 2 as far as handling, etc. Thanks for any info.
Im going to assume that its a sportbike based on the size you noted. Most sportbikes can accept a 190, however I would advise against it because the bike will not handle as well cornering, or should I say it will slow your bikes responsiveness in cornering. unless you are drag racing it on the weekends, it really wouldnt offer you much other than the looks of a bigger tire. it is slightly wider, but putting it on a wheel that is made for a 180 will cause you to have some side wall over hang and with that being said, will also offer you some drift at higher speeds under cornering conditions. If the bike is a 600 (again I am assuning due to a lack of info) you will also be adding unnecessary weight.
Q: so i am trying to find the right tires for my 1981 kawasaki kz250. so the specifications i have been able to read from the faded specs under the seat say. front 2.75-18 4pr and the rear says 4.60-S16 4 pr. i know it has a top speed of 90. so p rated tires minimum. i hope im right in saying that the front tire is 2.75 width and 18 rim size. and the rear is 4.60 width 16 rim size. but the real issue seems to be in finding the size online. im finding many more metric sizes. so the question is, what would be a good metric conversion. will 120/90-16 fit the rear for example? (for some reason metric sizing has inches as well) what would be safe metric sizing for these tires?
Have you heard? The bird is the word.
Q: is removing/installing a motorcycle rear tire on a rim harder than front tire? 120 front and 190 rear?
By the tire sizes im assuming its a sport bike. Removing the front wheel from the bike is actually easier since its only a few pinch bolts, the brake calipers, speedo cable, and the front axle comes right out. For the back wheel you have to drop the brake caliper, move the wheel forward to remove the chain, take the axle out, and then adjust the spacers when putting it back on. It doesn't matter which wheel it is when installing the tires. You still want to do it at a tire shop so they balance it correctly.
Q: I want to get a Honda CBR 600, but I don‘t know if I‘m tall enough for one. I want to go to ODU in VA beach. I am 5 foot 8 or 5 foot 9 and still in high school.
Car - Bike? Its a hard one. My CBR600 F4 uses 5.5L per 100Km. A 2009 will do a lot better than that as Fuel Injection is a better system I suspect 4L per 100Km. You should not make the choice bike - car based on running cost as I believe that the bike has many hidden cost. As an example. Tyres. While a bike only has 2 wheels the tyres wear very quickly compared to a cars. In part this is reasonable as a bikes tyres are under a greater load. While you only need two, they do cost a lot more to buy than car tyres. Parts are the same, or cheaper. Another cost is the helmet and riding gear. My point is. You should ride to ride as its an excellent experience.
Q: Note: This is a Minnesota winter which is an entirely different thing! Sometimes it gets to below 30 and even worse windchill. I would like to start riding a motorcycle but I need to get past a couple questions.
I ride all winter long, and have ridden through several snowstorms, even white-out conditions, on my Harley Davidson Ultra Limited. The bikes will start fine. There are tow key elements. You must wear at least three layers of insulated clothes and they must be able to seal around the neck, wrists, waist, and ankles. Heated clothing is even better. An insulated skull cap will make even the helmet very warm and keep cold air from getting in around your ears. Even with a full dresser, in deep winter the gloves must be made especially for winter riding. Heated is even better, and they have to seal at the wrists. Even lower fairing make a difference, as your knees can freeze without one. Once you handled the gear, the next issue are the roads. They MUST be dry. The cold won't bother them, but ice will drop a bike in a minute. So check the forecast every day when riding in sub zero temperatures. Even with my gear, I switch to a car when the temperature is below 17 degrees, as I find water tends to freeze instantly on the road below that temperature. It's still very enjoyable to ride through the winter, as the air and smells are crisp and clean, and the traffic is so much less. The attached picture shows my bike at the end of one 700 miles-in-one-day winter run when I rode through three snowstorms. Do not start that way! Try small trips first, and have enough money to pay for a ride home if you get in trouble. Stick to populated areas. The bottom line is you must dress warmly enough to survive on foot overnight if the bike goes down. And pick the bike carefully. Make sure it's in great condition. I hope this is helpful.
Q: i have an 85 honda rebel, and the rear tire size is 130-90-15 but what if i put on a 150-90-15? would it make a difference?
Its wider, general rule of thumb is 10mm larger will fit, but that is 20mm Ive seen 20mm larger work on some bikes.not many though, you'll need to measure the clearance in the rear fender firstget a vernier caliper or something accurate and measure from the tire you have on there now and see if there is 10mm of clearance on each side to the fender.
Q: Was wondering where is a good web site to find motorcycle tires and rims. Preferably somewhere i can see what i am buying. I have found some places that basically only give you a description of the item.
It would help to know what brand of motorcycle and model. Search the web for motorcycle rims I saw lots of them.
Q: i am selling a motorcycle tire on ebay and had a guy from Canada asking me what it would cost to ship a tire there. he gave me code of some sort and i have no idea what it is. it is A1B 1J1 anyone know whagt it is and how much it would cost to ship there? my zip is 54601.
That's a Canadian Postal Code. You should take the tire to Kinko/FedEx or to a UPS store. They can weigh it and calculate the exact charge.
Q: Why did bikes, motorcycles used to have white tires?
The tires you speak of were produced BEFORE they added carbon black to rubber for better longevity and puncture resistance. I would try Coker Tire, they make tons of retro tires.
Q: I‘ve recently purchased a 50cc Honda Motorcycle. It has street legal tires, blinkers, headlights, mud flaps and even a dink little horn.I went down to my local DMV and tried to figure out if a 50cc bike is required to be registered AND if the driver has to be licence but neither the people working at the DMV knew nor did any of their books clearly state if it was or not.Anyone know where I can at least look up the laws? I live in Kootenai County, Idaho.
too bad you don't live in Minnesota! here you can ride one down the side of the road just like it were a mountain-bike or 10-speed. The funniest part is .you only need to be 12 years and older. The one catch is, when making left turns you are supposed to walk it (just go slowly) accross in the crosswalks. You don't need a license or anything else though.
