Q: Is nitrogen good for motorcycle tires?
the thought is that a chilly air intake will provide the engine denser oxygen encumbered air which will enable greater gas to be burned in a given skill stroke. in case you get greater skill, you are able to IN concept, press lighter on the thin pedal to realize a given velocity. Now.do ya' extremely go lighter on it?
Q: can i use fix a flat to fix a leaky motorcycle tire? other patch options?
Many times I have removed a nail or other object from the tire and patched the tube. I have always run tubes, even in cast wheels (early ones were known to be porous). As long as the damage was a simple puncture, I didn't do anything to the tire itself. Dunlop recommends a patch/plug as the only repair. Fix-A-Flat in a motorcycle tire? NO WAY. Read the can - not recommended for motorcycle tires. Use it on a spoked wheel with a tube and the pressure will leak through the spoke holes. All you get is a sticky mess - and a flat tire.
Q: Hi i went over pothole the other day and it caused a hole on the side of my front tyre (picture attached), and it was losing air fast so i took it to a motorcycle repair store and they recommended me some sort of tyre filler where they take off the tyre and put some sort of tyre filler on the inside of the tyre. they told me it could last a month or two depending on how much i ride so i went for it, does anyone have any idea what they‘re called and how long they last? I do plan to get a new front tyre soon but am curious about this filler they put inside.
Nothing will fix a sidewall. There are various fillers like Goop and Slime and lots of others, they work around a nail or screw in the face of a tyre but they do not repair a hole that large and never in the sidewall. Riding a bike with a tyre in that condition is asking for an accident. You can also plug tyres with a plastic/rubber mushroom (again not in a sidewall). Get the new tyre now, do not ride on that.
Q: i bought a 2009 KAWASAKI LE650-A for 70 dollars and it looks like they can be replaced with dirt bike tires
Of course you can. I have been putting dual sport tires on street bikes for years. I know guys who put knobbies on their Sportsters. The Versys is a relatively light standard with a fair amount of suspension travel and decent ground clearance. It should work at least as well off-pavement as the Suzuki Vstroms, which people knob up all the time. Before the Versys hit the market, dual sport riders were hoping it would be a bit more offroad oriented. As it happened, it is pretty much a street bike, but is still light enough to do some exploratory riding on. With a pavement oriented DS tire like the pirelli MT90 or Avon Gripster, you can improve your bike's performance on gravel while giving up very little on the street. With a DOT knobby like the Continental TKC80 or Dunlop D606 you can really hook up on loose stuff and maintain decent road manners. Finding tires in the right sizes could be a problem, but the Cheng Shin 858 is a 50/50 tire that comes in a wide range of sizes. If you hunt around, I'm sure you can find something that will fit. Seventy bucks has to be a typo, right?
Q: Any websites out there?
Road/trail tires or sportbike tires? you need to be specific
Q: The bike is a 2005 Suzuki V-Strom, original on the front, Avon Potenzia on the back.
It is probably tubeless. Generally is you have cast rims then they are tubless. If it has spokes then it will have a tube.
Q: Why Car tire pressure is around 30 psi & road bike tire as 120 psi ?
Everything that bikinkawboy has said is accurate but it doesn't address the actual issue for the pushbike. I can fit tyres to the bike of various widths which take pressures from 35 to 100 PSI. On a road bike I can get still narrower tyres up to 200 PSI. The advantage of the small high pressure tyres is that they are very light, have low rolling resistance and low wind resistance. With these tyres I can ride at speeds of around 35 Km/hr. The advantage of the fatter low pressure tyres is that they last a lot longer, have far better impact resistance and transmit less vibration to the rider. Usually they have enough rubber to permit a better tread for mud/snow/water handling capabilities. For the same amount of effort as the road bike the speed reduces to perhaps 20Km/hr for the 35 psi tyres. For intermediate or compromise tyres (1.5 inch 100 psi) I can ride at around 30Km/hr A car has plenty of power available so efficiency has been a low priority. Ride comfort, noise, cost per Km and safety are higher priorities so fat tyres with low pressures have taken over. In theory I could fit narrow high pressure tyres to a tractor too but it would cut into the ground and be unsuitable for use on dirt. So we select bigger fatter heavier tyres instead. We know that they are limited in speed capabilities and have high friction but this isn't an issue when plowing or slashing paddocks. The other issue is that it is very hard to make a big tyre take high pressures. The smaller the tyre the easier it is to make it strong enough to withstand the pressures. Even if we decided that a 200 psi tyre would be good for a car, it would be almost impossible to find materials that would withstand the forces. So big tyres normally can only withstand low pressures but with small tyres we have our choice.
Q: 2008 XR650L That is mostly a street tire? I do not want to change my factory wheel . Just want to replace its tire. Recommended tire is a Bridge Stone Trail Wing 52. Problem with the TW52 tire is it has to be replaced every 5,000. miles.
man i am torn, the one with the knife though, that's prob the best tool. u wont run out of ammo. it can help defend sort of against some predators, you can hunt with it. make a lean to with it. the knife.
Q: I recently borrowed a bike and upon return was charged for new tires. They claimed that I cupped them. I rode very little and low speeds.
They can cup from a variety of reasons but have found low fork fluid in one fork, yes rear wheel alignment, if some one crashed the front end you can test the forks in the triple tree, hit a curb and bent the rim (usually in spoke rims), and bad underinflation, if the bike has bias ply tires (Harley, and some mainstream imports) then underinflation will go un-noticed. tell them you want to see the original paper work that shows the tires to be in good condition BEFORE you burowed it BTW how did some place lend you a bike thats a real trusting place unless thats why they lend bikes to get bogus fees later.
Q: When your motorcycle tires need to be changed, do motorcycle dealerships change them for you? For how much?
Pete M has the best answer. To add to that, reprogramming would be a big mistake. The power train warranty will be voided if you reprogram it, even if you change it back. Ford spent a small fortune to put in settings that are the best balance of power, fuel economy, engine life and emissions compliance. Changing anything will hurt at least one of those factors, probably two or three, and maybe all four. That applies to all auto makers now - see the source for the GM TSB about it. As Rick writes, It’s important to note that GM is seeing enough damaged engines and transmissions to make this announcement. Ford has been making some nice vehicles in the last decade or so. it would be a shame to mess one of them up.
