Q: Do you think scooters are more dangerious than motorcycles?I ran into a guy at the gas station the other day who was telling me he liked my bike, he had a scooter said his wife wouldn't let him buy a bike but let him get a scooter.I would think a scooter is actually more danergous, what do you think? You have smaller tires so your tire can be eaten up by even a small pot hole, your lower and smaller than on a bike so your even less visible, and you have much less power and I imagine controll so you can't as easily get out of a bad situation. Your also still just as out and exposed to things on a scooter as you are on a bike. I just thoguht this guys wife was an idiot but waht do you think?
It is the rider not the machine that makes something dangerous. Just look at the answer before me, my bike goes 165 mph and scooters do not so they must be more dangerous. I would say that a squid going 165 mph on a public road or doing wheelies on the interstate is more dangerous. And stupid. With a scooter I think it matters more what you need it to do so you pick the right model. I have ridden the Kymco Xciting 250 and 500's a lot and would ride one down I-40 coast to coast with out a problem. Many people give answers about scooters on here that do not really know anything about them.
Q: Why are the tires on my motorcycle wearing unevenly?
Improper tire pressure, not balanced properly, If the front tire, possible problems with your forks, steering head bearings. Your frame could be bent or your wheels improperly aligned. Wheel bearing preload or worn bearings. Front tires tend to cup as they wear - some bikes are more prone to that than others and heavy front braking will accelerate front tire cupping. Other Or a combinations of any or all of the above. Rear tires tend to wear out faster than fronts. The rear has to deal with both braking forces and acceleration forces and the rear generally carries more weight.
Q: I have a 2004 R1. I currently have Bridgestone Battlax BT-003 tire‘s. Before that had the Pilot Powers. I like the 190 tires. Just the wide look is sweet. The feel is a little better in my opinion than a 180. Anyway, I need new tires and was looking at some but not sure how they react to my riding. I ride to work 5 miles there and 5 back, and of course love to ride with my buddies every now and again. I want a tire that is going to STICK. Yet I don‘t want it only to last 1klol. In your opinion, what would be the best tire. Thanks!
I didn't like the Bridge stone line. Ive never used the Dunlop road tire That was mentioned. I had excellent wear and grip with the Metzeler M3 Sportech. It had GREAT tread life and the best grip ive had in any sport tire ive used. (Dunlop, Pilot power+sport+2CT, Metzeler M5 and M3, Bridgstone battleaxe, and a number of Pirelli sport tires) It is still a sport tire but it is made with silica compounds that cause it to live longer. Metzeler is less popular for some reason but they are excellent tires and are superior to the cool names if that's more important to you than grip. The company only makes motorcycle tires. I personally go for performance and technology. The same reason i don't buy Harley Davidson products. They are expensive so be prepared for that. Dealers wont be able to get discounts because they cant sell nearly as many of them as the Michelin and Dunlop ETC.
Q: my new bike won't steer enough to make 2 donuts to complete the DMV course 1 MPH! I need serious help/advice. I know how to lean the bike! It just won't lean and steer at that ridicilously low speed! I need some practical tips not tips from a super cool biker
Your not going to notice any difference in performance with a simple muffler change. It's not a high horsepower V8. Except for turning it into another annoying fart can car, there is no reason to waste your money on it.
Q: Yamha 80cc tire. Unfortunately, unlike a bicycle tire, i cannot seem to get the last 1/3 of tire back on the rim with any persuasion with a tool or anything. i got the stem through with nut on it so that is ok, but i need a trick or an answer from experience because the Hulk‘s number is busy right now, thanks.
2 Tire Irons, big ,BLUNT screwdriver looking things, just go over the tire bead and inside the rim working your way around. It is VERY EASY TO PINCH THE TUBE.
Q: It says however, for front tire use. The tread pattern looks suitable as a rear tire and the size is only one size smaller than the recommended for my motorcycle. The tire I got is a Dunlop 110x90x18, which has the words for front tire use. I inspected it and the sidewalls and the tire beads seem to be in reasonably healthy condition. The recommended rear tire size for my bike is 120x90x18. Would someone be kind enough to give me some advise why I should not use this tire or if I can consider using this tire. My motorcycle is a 1986 BMW K75c. Thank you.
Still laughing at the first answer -sorry- But did you ever consider the inner design that it is not made for pulling Unless it came off of a front wheel drive bike THAT is why it is marked in the first place If it shreds on you then you may belive what the mfg says They dont mark them just to confuse you
Q: I am looking at a Pirelli MT75 120/80-16 for the rear tire, and a Pirelli Sport Demon 100/90-16 up front. This is on a 2004 Ninja 250.Any concerns regarding the sizes or stickiness? I can get a very good deal on this setup, so if it sounds alright, I really want to jump on it.
you'll be okay with the tires but really a 250 save the money on the tires sell the ninja and a 10 yr old and buy a real bike
Q: the front tire on my KLR 650 keeps going flat and its very irritating. ive already changed the tube in it and it stayed for a while. but its flat again. and im wondering if using tire slime or any product like that would seal a leak in it. any advice is welcome
Sometimes this works good, sometimes it does not! It depends on what kind of hole where, and how big! Sidewalls do not hold sealer well, and in some cases will not stay sealed with patches either! (talking tubeless). If it is a tube type tire, go to effort to pull out tube and patch, you can do this just like they do on bicycle, just pull it out away from tire to do it, put back in place and put rim back on (clincher) flanges. Patching tubeless tire not so easy and requires removing wheel to get completely off to work on! -- This would be under normal conditions! You also need to remove wheel so you and take tire completely off (since your new tube started leaking too), and run your hand around inside everywhere, and find out what is puncturing the tube! Check to see if you have a belt in bottom of wheel flanges, - where spokes come through! If that is missing, - or you have a sliver of slot in ferrule sticking up, it can stick up thrugh the little rubber belt on wheel! This will show up as leaks oposite area where tire touches the ground! . (Referted to as the bottom of tube! I you have a nail sticking up in heel of your shoe, you can remove your sock and put on a bandaid, -- but you are still going to be limping, (lose alot of blood) an tear up a lot of socks, till you get around to taking care of nail sticking up!!
