Q:Motorcycles. Why no radial tires or fuel injectors? Why are same-size engines so much more powerful than cars?
Basically we dont need them. Both of those features wont make much difference in bike performence. As for the power difference, it's about weight. Bike engines are actually smaller then those even in small cars. Bikes just weigh thousands of pounds less so the small engine (that only have to drive 1 tire) can move the vehiacle much faster and much quicker.
Q:ok i just bought a 96 honda cbr 600cc f3, it needs a back tire bad and could use a front tire but i dont need it right away, the back tire size is 160/60R17 its a sportmax (D220 ST)(made by dunlop i think) the front tire is 120/60R17, my question is what should i do i want to get my back tire done and can find tires way cheaper online then the 180 dollar the shop i called had, but i dont want to get some really **** tire, at the same time im looking to save money. so give me some advice on what to do as this is my first bike.
id get the biggest tire you can, more tractionyou should be able to go into belle tire, idk if they do bikes, they should, and just have them order tires (like you're gonna buy) and have them put em on for ya for looks so you can see what you like, then order online exactly what you want
Q:my dirt bikes tires are 4.00-18 for rear and 3.00-21 for front i cant find them anywhere i just get 80/100-21 for front is this the same?
Learn to use metric/metric conversion to inches., that should solve the problem.
Q:I usually would go through my honda dealer but they just recently changed owners and have been being a real pain to deal with. does anyone know of a reputable source for cruiser tires, hopefully one that will ship to Alaska for less than an arm, leg, and left nut?
Try your local Kawasaki dealer instead. The service department will probably service Hondas too. but call them to make sure. I'm betting that the tires that go onto your motorcycle also go on a Kawasaki cruiser too.
Q:I want a fast motorcycle with nice looks and prefer 2 lights on the front like the Yamaha YZF R1. I also don‘t want too big rear tires.
I suggest you learn how to drive a motorcycle before worrying too much on how it looks. All motorcycles look like the same when they go skipping across the pavement on their side. You mentioned an R1 bike, which is a 1000cc super sport. Then you talk about not too large of a rear tire. Well if you name off one of the most powerful race bikes on the market, of course you will get a large tire so it has a sliver of hope of transferring some of its power to the pavement. Also a fast motorcycle is a very relative term. A Kawasaki Ninja 250R is plenty fast if you are comparing it to a car. While it may be a weak motorcycle relative to the field of motorcycles, it will still beat just about any car in terms of acceleration and speed. (When I had one, it could get a 6'0 210lbs male up to 95mph.) Go take an MSF course so you can learn how to ride properly and live to tell about it. It will also get you some experience on other types of bikes so you can make a more educated decision later. Sport bikes are fun, but if you are entering the field looking for a fast bike you are looking at it all wrong. All motorcycles CAN be fast.
Q:Will a 190/50/17 or 190/55/17 rear motorcycle tire fit on a 4.7 (120mm) rim?
Not without drastic pinching. They need a 5.5 rim width for proper use. You're looking at fitting a 160 or 170 ( and maybe some 180's, I think Avon designs wider tires for more narrow rim widths). Unless you're destroying tires with heat/spinning up/sliding out under aggressive use (usually in the 150hp range of bike), you don't need the heat displacement of a 190. And if you don't need the penalty of extra mass and size, then it's better (for handling and acceleration) to stick with the smallest tire that gets the job done from a Performance perspective. I frequently run 150's on rims that can take 160's on my track bikes.
Q:My Honda King Motorcycle front tires are 90 / 90-18 rear wheels are also the same as before 90 / 90-18, as high as the speed, how is it going, I see someone else's front wheels are better than Round, how will the front wheel have any effect?
Round the words run up and unstable! The front wheel is narrow and easy to fall! Especially technology can not. You want to play the motorcycle can also be appropriate under the rectification!
Q:Hello everyone. Here‘s the situation: I have changed the oil, spark plugs, air filter, and recharged the battery and the bike starts up and runs just like new. The tires have been inflated to optimum (both tires instruct to inflate to 40 psi) and the chain is freshly lubed. It runs great except at about 38-42 MPH where it then develops a wobble. If I take my hands off the bars it will start to wobble violently very quickly. This only happens around the posted speed range. Any higher or lower and it cruises nice and smooth. Does anybody have any idea why this happens. I am open to all suggestions. Also the tires appear to be aligned and I have 10,000+ miles on the bike. Thanks for your help.
First off - the tires are over inflated. The numbers on the sidewalls of tires are the maximum pressure the tire will safely hold without causing damage. Look in your owners manual for the proper tire pressure recommendations - or there may be a sticker on the bike with that info. Tire pressure on small bikes is approx 28F 32R Sportbikes 32F 36R Scooters 22F 25R
