- The "H=100M" in the parameter is the pressure index of the pump. "H" is the height of the head and the height of 100m. Since the 10M lift is approximately equal to 1Kg/cm2 pressure. Your pump is 10Kg/cm2 pressure.Q=18 M3/H, that is, 18 cubic meters of traffic per hour;H=100M, that is, rated head 100M, high head;P=4.0 KW, that is, the motor power is 4 kw.

- Please get the workshop manual. From an imperfect memory it should be in forward gear to expose a link - but I could be confusing it with other brands. This brand has a known issue with the water pump if ever run dry as both the impellor and the housing can be damaged instantly. The pump should always be replaced as a full assembly, housing, seals and impellor, as detritus can easily block water galleries and that requires extensive work to remediate. The thermostat should be checked and replaced at the same time. Worn and damaged impellor material can easily end up through the block, head, thermostat etc. and that must be checked for as well. The lower cylinder can be down on compression caused by local overheating due to this and mud, sand and corrosion reducing water flow. An engine that very much must be flushed and looked after after all use - that includes all the larger models with this brand. They are quite a good engine, but seem very heavy for the output to me - particularly compared to lifting a two stroke on and off....

- Totally agree with Peetr Peetr's answer above. When you purchase the trashcan the Rubbermaid cans have been proven to be safe for potable water, can't say that all others will be made with non leaching plastics. Also Suggest adding the dechlorinating product i.e. prime into the tank itself, instead of adding it to the water and sitting all week in the vessel which leaves a layer of scum on the trashcan from my experience. Hth

- First let me say the GOOD LORD was watching over you. You NEVER NEVER NEVER open a radiator cap when it is hot. Had a friend do that and he now has scars on his chest where the water sculled him. Yes it is working. What you need to do is change the thermostat. But please wait until the engine is cool to the touch.
- Q:I just had my water pump/timing belt replaced and oil change. When the pump failed, white smoke was coming out, which I figured out to be coolant from the smell. - Something in your description doesn't add up. Mercruiser did not have a motor branded as 170 hp in 1978, only 85-86. The 224s where a Mercury invention, all about the same for around 15 years. Do you you have a ser #, much more accurate identification.
