- Q: i have a 1994 honda accord lx. i was wondering what the water pump is for and if it goes bad can i still drive around without it thanks
- 1994 Honda Accord Water Pump
- Q: please answer my below question whether it is possible or not.can i get 15,00,000 lit/day amount of water by using 10hp water pump at the distance of 5m total head?
- a 10HP water pump is huge. if it is electrically driven, you will need 3 phase power. typical rating for a water well submersible type is 240 gallons per minute, or 345,600 gallons per day, which would be about a million liters per day. a sump pump type might deliver more flow, but i could not find a spec for one that big. most water pumps are 1 HP or less.
- Q: The coolant in my '92 Le Baron is leaking, so I may have to change or replace my water pump.., any ideas?
- Buy pump, throw in trunk. sell car. buy 1995 honda civic.
- Q: Having a hard time taking out the water pump on my 2004 Grand Am. it's been leaking anti-freeze for some time and finally had the time to fix it. Didn't know it will be so difficult to take out. So hopefully it won't be so difficult to put back up.
- You did not say if you have a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder. The 6 is really easy so I will assume you have a 4.If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L (L61). Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling . Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End. Remove the access plate on the water pump sprocket from the timing cover. Install J 43651 to the water pump sprocket. Use the access plate bolts to secure J 43651 to the engine front cover. Remove the bolts that secure the sprocket to the water pump. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the engine block to the water pump. Remove the bolt (2) that secures the engine front cover to the water pump. Remove the feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump. Remove the 2 bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block. Remove the water pump.
- Q: My timing belt is worn but has not broken yet. The mechanic first told me it would be about $200-250 to replace the belt. Then he called back and said it was going to be $550 because on an Aveo you have to replace the water pump at the same time. I asked if it was possible to do just the belt and he said quot;well the water pump will probably break when we take it outquot;. Is this a sign that I should just break down and go to a dealership so that my water pump won't quot;breakupon removal?
- He is saying that, because the water pump is driven by the timing belt and you SHOULD replace it while you are in there. Why pay twice down the road? Sure the belt can be done without doing the pump, the fact that he said the pump will break when doing a belt is complete bullsh*t though. There is no need to do anything to the pump when changing the belt other than taking the belt off the pulley. That's it. Generally, I just add maybe .5 hrs to the labor for the belt when doing the pump also, DOUBLE doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Unless he is worried about pump BOLTS snapping from CORROSION (that may be it) when removing the actual water pump, that is the only thing that can possibly justify doubling the labor, they may be in water jackets in the block. He should, however, make you aware that that is a possibility and not automatically assume that will happen and charge you for it. Depends, if they are careful with the removal, it should just add another 20-30 minutes to the timing belt job. Either way if you turn down the pump and they are telling you it will still break(?), go somewhere else. I work on cars everyday and would never charge someone an additional 300 dollars off the bat assuming the bolts will break. There are tricks to prevent that as well (penetrating fluid/PB Blaster). Generally if that does happen, one maybe two bolts would break tops and that still doesn't justify the additional labor... Hope that helps....
- Q: I'm just wondering where I should buy my new water pump for my 2.2 cavalier? Auto zone, carquest, checker? Does it matter which one? Thanks
- out of all the auto parts stores i use autozone is the cheapest but 45 miles away so i mainly use napa.
- Q: I am selling a 96 eclipse that needs a new water pump. I am willing to sell it for an offer as is, but I would like to fix it and sell it for more, so it is as if I am getting paid for the labor. My question is, is it possible at all to change out a water pump on a 96 eclipse without pulling the engine out? Like through the passenger wheel well access panel or anything?
- I've done hundreds of them with the engine in place. If it's a Chrysler 420A powered lump, you'll need a puller for the bottom crank pulley. On second thought, don't fix it, sell it short and when the NEW owner F's it up, it isn't your fault. You don't need that pain.
- Q: Today I see the saying that if your pipe diameter has been selected, then the pipe diameter on the pipe diameter should be smaller. I don't know why
- The size is only a matter of convenience or experience, and a small number of tubes are already available. As long as you can pick it up, you can use it.The so-called thick pipe to reduce resistance is a certain relationship. But it shouldn't be your decision to choose the big one. Then why don't you choose the big three? Four or the thicker ones?! @! The resistance will be smaller!!!!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - layman; look at the knowledge of fluid mechanics!!!The question is a conclusion, explain why not one or two words, learn the knowledge of fluid mechanics to know why -- try to answer it, that is to improve the water pump outlet total pressure head, intuitive feeling is to have enough pressure to pump out the water pressure. As for the big three or four, it is necessary to ensure that the flow velocity in the pipe is more uniform, otherwise the flow near the pipe wall will flow or flow too slowly due to viscous action.
- Q: OK so i am new to RVing....I have an older 1971 trailer pull forester....It has a your normal fresh water inlet on the outside of the trailer, fresh water tank, and water pump. My question is actual a double part question #1 When i screw the hose on the inlet and start filling the water tank i hear it going in but i still have no water coming out the faucet...Does this have to do with the water pump? why am not getting water to anything except i hear the tank filling up?!?#2 Is the Water pump A/C or D/C......I have that little pull knob (that i guess turns it on or off) and i was curious if i needed to be hooked up to the Battery in front to make this work? or should it work with the regular AC that everything else is working on?Thanks for any help

- Q: A mechanic replaced my timing and other belts on my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cylinder today but not water pump. He said the water pump looked good. All the other mechanics I talked to told me they had to replace the water pump. This mechanic said the belts were not connected to the water pump in this car and therefore the water pump was ok. The car has about 100500 miles on it. Is this bad or should I call him back and ask him why he didn't change the water pump. I don't want to pay more later.
- Replacing a water pump may or may not be correct, if it's not leaking or noisy then it is still serviceable. The issue is more of a preventative maintenance issue. It will likely fail, and when it does, you must remove all the parts involved with the timing belt job to access it, so you incur the labor cost twice. I recommend a water pump be done at the second Timing belt or around 120K miles, if not done sooner. also the tensioner pulley/s at that time as a safety practice, some engines use hydraulic tensioners that are prone to failure (early mitsu's). There is no way of saying how long the water pump will last, and when it does fail, it's usually an inconvenience.
