- Q: My Toyota 2006 Sienna has 80K miles on it and I asked the dealer to inspect the vehicle. He suggested that i replace Timing Belt, Water Pump, Drive Belt and Trans Pan Gasket. The cost of the repair comes to $1300 ($460 for Timing Belt, $350 for Water Pump, $140 for Drive Belt $370 for Pan Gasket).I'm caught by surprise with the price quoted and things to be replaced. Is the price quoted reasonable? Are these replacement common for Sienna vehicle with 80K miles? I don't know what could possibly go wrong if these are not changed for couple of months. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle for 100K miles will any of the above get covered under warranty?Any suggestions or advice is highly appreciated/
- I agree with the other two- don't go to the Toyota stealership. They are heavily overpriced. The timing belt service (-which should include replacing timing belt, crankseal, cam seal, waterpump and drive belts) should be more like $600-750. The pan gasket- if you really need it done- should cost you (worst case scenario) $150. All this can be done at any independent repair shop for considerably less than the stealership. Check around though because some independents can cost you almost as much as the stealership. Also, there are shops out there with great prices that do shoddy work- but from my experience, most of the less expensive shops seem to be just as good as the stealership.
- Q: Our water pump was really warm/hot to the touch, our hot water was more warm than hot, and wouldnt heat up enough to get hot, and it wouldn't turn off. (like when it starts up when you turn on the water,it just kept going, and wouldn't stop) so, because it was hot, and going constantly, we didn't want it to explode, or burn out, so we turned it off, and now I'm hoping that when we turn it back on after it cools, that it'll go back to turning on/off intermittently, instead of constantly. So, after it cools down, will it go back to normal, instead of just constantly going??!?
- I assume you have a water well pump. The experience I have had, is it will come back on once the thermal safety switch cools down. However, I think you still have work here to do because each time this happens, you are shortening the life of your pump. First you need to determine why it ran hot to begin with. Could be lots of reasons, but just to name a few. -Is your water tank in good shape, with the correct air pressure? -Is the tank waterlogged, too old or leaking? -Any leaks in the service in or to the house? -Is your contact switch working properly, clean contacts, good wire, good connections, breaker etc.? -Is there water running somewhere your not aware of? -Last but not least, the check valve and foot valve leading to the well could also be defective. Just my opinion, I hope this helps to get you thinking. Good luck; flip;
- Q: All of a sudden I have no water coming to the house/anywhere from the pump/well outside. It's a newer well, good water quantity (Florida...no dry up problems), no sand in water. I'm new to this house and don't know much about the pump stuff. Is there something I should look at or switch on/off. The breaker is ok. Help, I need a shower! :) Oh, there were about 15 ants around some box, but it didn't look connected to the pump...it's a box to the pool filter thing.
- And last but not least, is the submerged pump. This pump actually is down inside the well casing. Usually towards the bottom of the casing. If you have to pull it, it involves disconnecting the electrical and plumbing lines, and literally, pulling it up by the chain or pipe. It could be a few hundred feet down. If it comes to this, I'd suggest calling in a plumber or well technician. If you dont like the idea of running down this whole list, then call a plumber, or well technician, and let them chase it down. Good Luck
- Q: I have a 2002 honda civic with 85k miles the dealer says the timing belt should be replaced. But with the water pump timing belt tensioner also have to be replaced???
- It relies upon on the vehicle, in diverse fashions, like maximum mitsubishis, you could desire to take the timing belt off to alter the water pump. So then that is an included operation and there is not any extra suitable value linked with the exertions to do the timing belt, it merely makes it a handy, value saving time to do it. there is not any rule approximately changing water pumps and timing belts at the same time. If that is not an included operation there is not any element to do them on a similar time. The timing belt is physically powerful preventative upkeep yet there is not any might desire to alter the water pump previously that is showing signs and indicators, and there are a brilliant style of them, that that is going to die.
- Q: Hello, I'm having an issue with grinding/metallic noise from engine bay. Alternator was replaced today and didn't fix. However, when I got the car back from the garage the oil level indicator is saying quot;inactivequot;. I seem to find some answers on the web that say the oil level indicator is in some way connected to the water pump. Car has 95k miles on and I doubt it had been changed. Could this be the cause of the noise? And could anyone possibly tell me which pulley it is on the belt? Many thanks for your time :)
- Alternator replaced? Will you be getting credit back for that? Anyway, at 95k it's almost about time to do a full preventive maintenance thing. That includes the water pump, belts, radiator hoses, I would do the tensioner and idle pulley too since one is there already. Would replace the radiator expansion tank too. Change the spark plug and valve cover gasket too while you are at it. The spark plug can be done separately, but it's time to replace them.
- Q: I just replaced my water pump.fixed.. A week later I've been noticing he might of over filled it because.were the coolant goes.steam comes.out.the little.while plus water.. And.before.I.started my.car I noticed.it was all empty now and my.engine sounds like a mini diesel when it runs.. What's the deal? And I.already filled it up with coolant again
- if it is low you still have a problem
- Q: School project. My group cannot find this answer.
- Either from the HP needed to run or the output in GPM.
- Q: took car to meachanic on a friday drove home . mecahnic put in timing belt engine coolant water pump car on sunday leaking alot of green fluid and smoke coming from hood
- What kinda car is it? I bet you they didn't clean and replace the o-ring in the area where the back of the water pump connects to the cross-over pipe. The area is usually neglected and it'll cause a leak that will run across the LIM onto the top of the bell housing.
- Q: I have a bad water pump on my golf gti.Engine is 2.0L. I just would like to know how hard is it to do it myself. And also is there some special tools that I need. How much time usually takes to get this done? Thank you
- The 85 was CISE, and did not have a lift pump in the tank from what I remember. All I remember is the singe pressure pump outside the tank, down low, off to the front right of the tank. That is also where the filter and accumulator are. Change the filter and check the pressure. I believe around 40 psi. If ok, then leave the pump alone. And make sure the tank is venting right, and the pressure return regulator is good. You can not even be sure the pump is the problem. By the way, the GTI with the DOHC is a sought after engine of value. But do the timing belt regularly.
- Q: What's the submersible pump?
- Centrifugal pump, a general motor and pump body is one, you can pump the whole pump into the water
