Q: I have a 1998 eclipse spyder GS and a rodent got under the hood and chewed the wiring harness by the battery tray we are putting it back together but there are several red with silver stripes, black with silver stripes and blue with silver stripe around with a yellow stripe, wires that look the same and we don't know which ones go to which ones, can you help?
Go to your local auto part store and ask them to print out a wiring schematic.
Q: I took out the original stereo, which would power on but get only static. It had no display, which I though was just do to the age of the stereo. I cut the stock harness because I could not find any matching ones at the time (found one now, but too late). I have tried installing 2 different stereos. Both will power on, but neither will actually power up. What I mean, is that there is power coming through (you can load and unload a CD and the red light flashes when the head unit is off) but when the head unit is on, it doesn't display anything or actually let you use any functions (seeming like it has no power). It has done this with both stereos, so I'm guessing it's something with the car's wiring. Is it a bad fuse even though it is getting power? A bad wire (power wire)? With the new stereo, when you first turn the key, the display will illuminate for a split second, then nothing, just the limited power like before. The car is a 1987 Caddilac Brougham (like Fleetwood). Thanks.

Q: I am very confused with all the wires and I've never installed a radio before but don't have $100 to let a tech do it PLUS I really would love to learn and the instructions on the radio and wiring harness arent wellinstructions at all they instruct as if u already know everything.PLEASE HELP!!!
ok if you are removing your stock radio first make sure you just unplug it dont make the mistake that most people make and cut the wires on the back. See if you just unplug it from the wiring harness of the car a remove it then you can go out and buy a wireing harness for the car. If you can find one. First plug the wireing harness into the car and make sure it fits and its the right one. After you see that it fits remove it and begin connecting wires. Just match the color codes on the radio harness to the harness that you bought. you have gray and black which are the front speakers. You have green and purple witch are the rear speaker. You have yellow which is your live(12 volt), you have red which is your accessory and you have black which is the ground. If you dont have a black wire comming from the harness that you purchase in the store then what you have to do is ground that wire to some metal. Get behind your dash find a nice sturdy piece of metal take a self tapping screw and screw the black wire to the metal. you will have a blue wire and some orage wires and maybe tan on the radio wiring harness and some on the harness you purchased. just cut and cap all of those because you dont need them
Q: for and aftermarket stereo in my car?my friend says he can install my stereo for me without one but it will take longer and is more difficult. also he says i wont be able to put my factory stereo back in again. is this true?
Very True. Your friend is right, and probably knows what he is doing. A wiring harness makes it a lot easier, especially when you sell your car and want to put your stock stereo back in. But unless you know what you are doing, always get a harness
Q: I have several bicycle computers that the harness have broken .some of them have a nick on the cable and others show no signs of damage .Does anyone out there know where to get replacement harnesses or how I would go about fixing t he harnesses I have. These are 'old' cycle computers out of style and I really do not want to buy a new cycle computer when what I really want is a new harness.I an particularly interested in the Echo j12 echowell? as I have several of those cycle computers because I liked the average cadence feature.I do not want to buy another cycle computer that the harness will probably break on and I will add to the collection of cycle computers with no functioning harness. I want to fix or replace the harnesses I have
If you can see an obvious nick trim back the plastic insulation and rejoin it. There will be two conductors so make sure that when they are rejoined they don't short together. Use tape and separate the soldered joins by at least 1/4 inch. Most breaks in the wire occur with in an inch of either the pickup or the holder so you could just try shortening the wire a few inches. ( If the holder and the pickup are not molded) Or just replace the wire. Any electronics store should be able to supply the wire. Most pickups have a reed switch which closes as the magnet passes nearby. They sometimes get dirt/water in them which shorts them out. A spray with wd40 can fix this. If the computer is OK you can get a speed reading just by shorting it's contacts together every few seconds. Good luck
Q: Hi,I'm looking for the wire connectors for the back of the navigation display and the DVD units as shown in the two pictures below
Connectors are usually items that you must buy from the dealer.
Q: i know what all the wires are on the back of the radio and I know what each wire does from my jeep. All I can see is that the wiring harness is for those who don't know what wire is what. So why spend like 5-10 dollars ordering and getting a wiring harness when I can do it in like 30 minutes. Am I right or am I missing something.
If you never intend on removing the radio, go ahead. Otherwise, get the harness.
Q: i have no wiring harness, but i have a kenwood one that fits, but the wires are in the wrong places. im pretty sure if it knew where each wire is on the original harness i could just rewire the kenwood harness. but i cant find a pic
i recommend abortion
Q: I can't seem to find a wiring harness for my 2005 chevy malibu (also known as a classic during this year) aftermarket car stereo head unit. Can anyone help out?
The battery is drained, but it may not be that the battery is the problem. If a circuit sticks open, anything that's left on could drain it. Get a jump start, take it to a mechanic and have the voltage regulator checked as well. Hopefully, all that happened was a door wasn't shut tight and your dome light drained the battery. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
Q: I am trying to install a Pioneer DEH-3400UB into my 2005 Nissan Sentra. I attached all corresponding wire colors and I am left with extra that I am not sure what to do with. The Pioneer is left with 2 purple, 1 green, 1 green/blue stripe, and the ground wire. My wire harness is left with 1 blue,
its not that simple you have to find out all wire functions before making any connections . you will need to get an wire diagram for a harness like this to convert to the pioneer harness
