Q:I have a 1988 mustang gt and it got struck by lightning which fried most of the wiring in my car. Ive looked all over the internet cant find anything bout a new wiring harness or where I can get a new one thats vehicle specific. any help?
junkyard.
Q:I have started a wood splitting/hauling business and so far business is great. Problem is it would be even better if I could find where to get an electronic brake control module for my truck. My trailer is equipped with electronic brakes but my truck does not have the module or wiring harness. Where can I find this and roughly how much will it cost me? I have 2, possibly 3, cords going out tomorrow and would like to have this hooked up before delivery. Thank you.(I live in Waldo, OH so if you would like wood delivered to you in a surrounding area please get in touch with me. Thank you, Brandon)

Q:I am replacing the engine and trans on my 78 buick. The engine is completely out. There is a big relay switch or what ever it is called next to the power booster. There are three bundles of wires comming fromit. one set goes to the head lights and another( the big one) went to the carb, and other engine electrical parts. I want to replace the whole set of wires. Is that possible? If so what is the harness called, or do i need to replace each individual wire for each component? Is this cheap to do?
The answer lies in your question. It's called a wiring harness. You can get a complete wiring harness with the plugs and everything. Not more than $300. I haven't researched where to get one but try summit racing to start with.
Q:i wanna get a Jensen VM9214 Single DIN MultiMedia Receiver with 7-Inch Flip out Touch Screen but idk whether to get a wiring harness for it cause idk if it has one or not???
It will come with a harness to fit the radio, which can either be spliced into an existing harness or be used with an adaptor harness that can be used to plug into the factory harness. I prefer to purchase an installation kit, or at least the adaptor harness as this allows re-installation of the factory unit and for the wiring to be done on the bench instead of in the vehicle.
Q:Depending on the year are they the sae lets same like 98 and up?
Go to Auto Zone or Wal Mart.
Q:i currently have a system in my car and i have 0G power and grounds wire that i bought off OKorder (some cheap quality cable) i already replaced both ground cables under the hood( engine block to battery and body to battery). now i am going to replace all of it with high quality 0G wire and was wondering if anybody knows the best spots to mount the grounds. and should the wire from my alternator to my battery also be the same 0G wire. also i have a 10 fared Rockford Fosgate cap that has a built in block for power and ground. should i use that block or get a different one? the car i have is a 1997 Sunfire, 2dr.any advice would be appreciated
yes use the same type of wire! and i would mount one of the grounds to the strut where ur shocks r bolted on ! and the cap isn't really necessary it just puts more strain on ur alternator ! but that's up to u if u wanna use it but yea u can use the same block.
Q:I was going to install my stereo when I realized that someone removed the factory wiring harness. There are a bunch of different colored unlabeled wires. I don't know how to figure out what each wire goes to.

Q:I want to know if thr wiring harness is messed up can i just buy a new wiring harness for the alternator? I don't kno what to do cause it won't pass smog. I need an honest answer from an electrical specialist. The mecanic the wires were cut off and modified. Can somebody please help me.
Yes it is possible to get the wiring harness back to original. Call up junk yard and they can clip the wires. You'd have to cut your modified harness. Try to cut it where you can hide the electrical tape so the inspectors can't see the mickey mouse job you did. If you want it done correctly look into getting a very expensive harness because that harness runs with the engine harness. Although some vehicles don't but I couldn't tell you that unless I see the car. Hope this helps.
Q:I am thinking about buying a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with a first gen Turbo motor swap, but the wiring harness needs replaced. Is this hard to do yourself? how much would it cost to have it done at a shop?
The wiring harness most people refer to connects the car's ECU (computer) to every part of the car that the ECU needs to see. Every sensor, every gauge, everything. A lot of it is bundled into cables that contain wires that go elsewhere. It's a lot of digging and splicing and getting dirty. A typical shop or dealership would probably need at least 8 hours with the car to do a thorough job. A typical DSM'er who knows the electrical system could probably do it in about the same amount of time, but wouldn't charge you as much. We mainly work for beer. :)
Q:Basically over about a four month period the radio/cd player in my truck was going on and off. It would work sometimes randomly, but now it is completely dead. I changed all the fuses and that isn't where the issue is. I have the original radio and I don't really want to replace it. I feel like if the fault were in the radio itself, it would have simply gone dead and not worked. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has any advice about what the cause could be? The truck itself is 17 years old, so it's a possibility that over time a wire came loose, or even for the radio to die. It came with a 5 cd changer that is in the cab, and I noticed at the very beginning before it starting cutting on and off that it would say that it couldn't read cd's. That was probably a few days prior, and then when the radio did actually work, the same problem persisted. What do you think the problem is?
I use a Multi-Tester (Volt-OHM-AMP) meter. I check each wire--for continuity. I also decide on the ground.(common ground).or a direct ground at the 12-volt battery./ I like to use a direct wire--from the 12-volt battery./with a in-line fuse/ I most times use the cigaretter/plug-in as my ground point./ Or I even run a ground wire back to the 12-volt battery./ The radio may have been running hot.and you placed wires at a terrible location./ (re-check the installation) If this is a automobile application--the 5 disk CD Player--will have Shock/detection/protection. Or.you may only be able to use store bought--CD's. NOT--ones you made on your computer. Try that. See if store bought CD's work better./ Most radio applications have fuses--that are very difficult to inspect--without a magnifying glass. I use 10-AMP for such things./
