Q:I think the water pump on my 40 hp mercury outboard 2 stroke is not working, the hole witch usually pours out all the water that was used to cool the engine does not pour any water at all. Is this a problem with the water pump? If not what?: requires visual inspection of the water pump. actually, checking the telltale outlet first might be preferable.

Q:need to know the electrical connections for a Square D water pump pressure switch..Have a quot;blacka quot;Redand the quot;ground quot;of course: The two source wires connect to L1 and L2. The two pump wires connect to T1 and T1. The grounds get grounded. When the pressure falls, the contacts pull together and connect L1 to T1, and L2 to T2, and start the pump.

Q:there is a knocking noise coming from the water pump pulley..i think, the pulley also wiggles when its running. If that's what is wrong, how long do i have to fix it and is it hard and expensive to fix?: No it isn't hard to fix, first loosen the little bolts on the water pump pulley, then take the belt off, then unbolt the water pump and take pulley off old pump, clean off old seal from block, put on new seal, you may have to use gasket maker or silicone, install new pump, and bolt pulley on to new pump, then reinstall belt. Oh I forgot you will have to drain the antifreeze before you start, and refill it after you are done! Start the car and let it warm up and look for leaks, if you see a leak you didn't get it sealed properly and will have to repeat the sealing process and antifreeze. Takes an hour or so to do!

Labor: water pump 1.2 hours @$89 per labor hour = $106, Hoses .4 hours x 2 hoses = .8 @$89 = $71.20 plus a possible cooling system flush $69. So your looking at around $500 bucks.........that is probably a little high Good luck!

Q:Looking for a pro's advice here. My Corolla has developed a strange noise over the past few cold weeks (Highs of 10 degrees max, well below zero at night). Thanks!!!: First, you need to remove alternator belt and see if the noise disappear. then remove the AC (compressor belt) and notice if the noise disappear last , remove the power steering belt and see if the noise disappear IF NONE OF THESE STEPS HELP TO DETERMINE THE NOISE THEN YOU MAY HAVE TENSIONER TIMING BELT OR IDLER TIMING BELT OR WATER PUMP IS MAKING NOISE.

Q:I installed a circulating pump in the far bathroom, since the length to the water heater made for a long wait. It takes 25 seconds for the hot water to arrive, which means 25 seconds of hot water wasted, once the water is shut off.Is it cheaper to, selectively(2 settings on timer) run the pump, or just wait on the hot water? And without the consideration, that time equals money. I imagine the more people that use it, the more efficient it gets.: If you mean your hot water heater is not heating as fast as it should be, is there anything wrong with the heater itself? Is the temperature setting proper? It sounds like you may mean it is just taking a long time for the hot water to get to the faucet. A lot of things can factor into that: --long pipe runs --colder winter temperature --less insulation of pipes The only things I can think of to reduce waste are: --making sure that all hot water tasks are done at about the same time, e.g., baths one after another, so the water cannot cool off in the pipes between bathers; --water heater timer or install a tankless water heater or two; --not running the water the whole time in the shower, e.g., wet down, turn off water, soap up, rrinse. --keeping buckets to fill with the cooler water, then using that water for plant watering, the first cycle in a clothes washer, or toilet flushing.

Q:I intend to construct a DIY base camp shower and dish sprayer. I have been searching for an appropriate submersible water pump to plug into a small inverter to a 12-volt cigarette lighter power pack (car jump starter). I need to attach adapters for a hose with a shower head and think that approximately 1+ gallons of draw per minute is practical.
