Q:I wanted to go to a brick and mortar store and buy an IR Cable to connect my Tivo. Comcast NEVER STATED I WOULD NEED THIS. So I began installation and now I am stuck. Can't find the original one.: There is nothing special about the Tivo IR blaster. It just has a 1/8 mono plug on one end of the cable and some IR emitters on the other. The Tivo web site describes it as Replacement IR Control Cable for use with your TiVo Recorder and most cable set-top boxes or satellite receivers. I once made one for a Series 2 using an IR emitter from an old TV remote and a plug/cable from an old transistor radio earpiece. Worked fine. Probably a lot easier to order one on the Internet than find a B M that stocks them. Why not just order one from Tivo? $6.99 + s/h

Q:i have a cable box connected to my tv and on my cable control i cant put the volume up or down i have to use my tv control. what i want to know is how do u program the cable control so i can use it for the volume and not have to use the tv control?: All you may do it place your cable field at an attitude so it factors in the direction of the place you're sitting with the distant. Then placed the cable field next to the television no longer on suitable or below it. If pointing to the cable field is a concern it could be because of the fact your distant has susceptible batteries which you may interchange. or possibly you in simple terms could airborne dirt and dirt off the lens on the distant sensor of the cable field.

Q:Everytime i try and use an Ethernet cable it doesnt recognize it, i have all the updates for Vista. Its not my Ethernet cable because it works with my other computerWindows vista home premium 32 bit: make sure your ethernet is enabled in bios when you log in BEFORE windows boots up sometimes you keep pushing f8 after a restart, sometimes its F3 and it could be the delete key this is right after you start your computer do that and then look into the bios and see if its got a ethernet thats not enabled. you will also need the ethernet drivers for your particular motherboard from the manufacturers website look in control panel, advanced, system devices to see if ethernet controller shows in there.

Q:i had an older remote and a few buttons had crapped out. so today i went to my local twc store and got 2 new remotes (for the 2 tvs in my house). the remotes are a little different then the old ones. i programmed them both. they both turn the tv on and off, the mute works, and i can change the channel and all that jazz BUT IT WONT CONTROL THE FRIGGIN VOLUME!!!!! i dont have an outside audio its just the tv speakers.please help!!!: You aren't using the correct codes try some of the others.

Q:I have an alpine deck cda-9885 and i just hooked the alpine cable up to my ipod so i can control the ipod on the radio, how do you navigate through the playists and songs? Once plugged in and connected, push the Little Magnifying Glass On the front Left Hand side of the Deck. Once you click that it will come up with Artist SongsPlaylistAlbums. Hit the Play/Pause button to select that feauture. Q:If I hook my my tv with composite cables I can control the volume through the DVR box but not with the HDMI cable. Why?: Composite cables are controlling analog audio, Since the HDMI cable is digital it cannot control the analog audio, hence the HDTV is the only way to adjust the volume when connected via HDMI. It's kind of a toss up, sacrifice picture quality for volume control via DVR remote, or use two remotes. or you could spend some money and get a moderate to high end universal remote like a Logitech Harmony One. Another possible solution would be to hook up via Component connection if available. That way you can adjust volume via DVR remote without sacrificing picture quality since component, DVI and HDMI quality are all comparable.
