Q: i have cable and its slow and when i call them they ask me what modem i have.so im thinking the modem controls the speed. the bigger modems are faster like 10mb and the little modems are 1.1mb is what im thinking right?
Yes and no. First, the physical size of you modem does not matter in the least. There are three issues determining your bandwidth throughput. One is the amount of bandwidth being provided across the pipe by your cable company. The second, as you pointed out, is the modem specifications. Third, since several people share a cable internet connection, the number of people on line at anytime and your physical proximity to the central office, also affect the bandwidth/speed of your connection. If you truly think you have a modem issue, take it to the local cable office and ask for a newer one.
Q: I am receiving a computer code of P1587 Throttle Control Unit Modulated Command Malfunction on my 2000 S type Jaguar.Does anyone know what exactly what Throttle Control Unit Modulated Command Malfunction means. Thank you!
Not an expert, but it could mean there is a problem with the control signal being sent to the throttle control unit. Your car probably has an electronic throttle (a motor controls it instead of a cable to the gas pedal). I don't know if this code means signal problems from the computer to the throttle unit or if it means a problem with the gas pedal signal. You might have to replace any of the following: the gas pedal, the throttle body, throttle body harness, or possibly the computer itself. I would hook up a scan tool and confirm there is a good, smooth signal from the gas pedal. I would also take the throttle body off, clean it, and check the servo gearing (sometimes the gears wear out). It should open and close smoothly by hand (there will be resistance though).
Q: i need my charter cable remote to control my t.v. ( volume, input, power). the remote is black and the bottom two buttons are the BYPASS button and the TV/VCR button if you are looking at a picture.
Charter 4-in-1 Remote codes for DAEWOO TVs. 076,103,055,004, 127,143,016,043,044,125,120 Turn on the equipment you wish to program. (TV, VCR, DVD or AUX) Press the [SELECT] button and [MUTE] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The device LED's blink in sequence (TV-VCR-AUX-CBL-TV) Release the buttons when the desired device button is blinking (the device LED will then remain lit). *Tip : The device LED will stay lit for 20 seconds. The next step must be entered while the LED is on. Point the remote control toward the equipment and enter the three-digit code number assigned to your brand. Store the three-digit code number by pressing the [SELECT] button. The device LED will blink twice to confirm that the code has been stored.
Q: If I hook my my tv with composite cables I can control the volume through the DVR box but not with the HDMI cable. Why?
Composite cables are controlling analog audio, Since the HDMI cable is digital it cannot control the analog audio, hence the HDTV is the only way to adjust the volume when connected via HDMI. It's kind of a toss up, sacrifice picture quality for volume control via DVR remote, or use two remotes. or you could spend some money and get a moderate to high end universal remote like a Logitech Harmony One. Another possible solution would be to hook up via Component connection if available. That way you can adjust volume via DVR remote without sacrificing picture quality since component, DVI and HDMI quality are all comparable.
Q: Either a cable or wireless?Thanks.
Here's okorder
Q: I have a big fancy HDTV, but i don't know how to make the controller control my cable. I have comcat, and I have to grab the little comcast cable remote to change the channels. The tv remote changes the physical tv channels, but it needs to stay on 3 to play cable so it doesn't help. My dad has his tv set so the remote changes the volume of the tv with his remote but when you hit the channel button it changes the cable, so that's the setup I would like. ps: if you actually read this whole paragraph, put a 1 at the end of your answer.
Big fancy HDTV isn't very specific. Your TV remote may not even be capable of operating your cable box, and if it is, the procedure for programming it will vary by brand. First look at the remote and see if it has a Cable button. If not, it probably can't operate the cable box. If it can, you would have to read the owner's manual to get the programming procedure. Your cable remote almost certainly will operate the TV. That's how i would approach the problem myself. Again, you would need to consult the manual, in this case the manual for the cable remote. If you don't have a hard copy you can probably find one on your cable provider's web site. Or you can call customer service. 1
Q: I have a 1080P TV (Westinghouse), Sony Receiver (1080P), and a Sony upscaling DVD (1080P). I bought two cables to close the triangle (HDMI from the DVD to the Receiver, and another from the Receiver to the TV). I watched a movie perfectly on Sunday. Today I begin to watch another movie and I turn on the DVD and Receiver. To my surprise, I have to picture. I can hear through the surround sound just fine but no picture. I switched cables around, changed settings, and called Sony Tech. Nothing worked! Their response was that my cables are bad because I can use the regular cables and get picture. Now is this possible for HDMI cables (brand new) stop working. Honestly, two HDMI cables is a little over $100 bucks and they go bad after 1 week. Help!!!!
You should check to see what version HDMI cables you have 1.3 should be available soon but get 1.2. Yes it is possible due to there not being a good quality control on the cables being made until this latest version (1.3). Also try to run the cables straight to the tv and not the receiver. Receivers can sometimes cause communication problems and devices to lose there handshake with devices over hdmi.
Q: I like to ****
your cable box is not sending a 1080p signal, but it is sending a digital signal, there fore by basic common sense a digital cable (HDMI) will look betterbut not just any hdmi cable, a hdmi cable that is actually speed rated to meet the optimization standards of your tv. A 1080p tv is still using 2million pixels to show you the 1 million pixel resolution signal(1080i), so using a cable that is 1080p speed capable will give you a nice picture. Satellite will soon have true 1080p channels.but cable company is limited by bandwith, and can barely handle 1080i (don't ever get advice on hdmi form your cable company-they know nothing, they are coax orientated). Long story short, you probably wont notice a difference on cable tv. So just keep using your component cables. If you switch to satellite, then you would benefit from hdmi cables.
Q: If i plug my HDMI cable from my PS3 into my HD TV with 5.1 speakers will I get my 5.1 audio to work, or will I have to plug the PS3 in separately?
If I understand the question right, you are good. HDMI is audio-video cable wrapped into one. Provided everything is plugged in sound should be fine. Volume control may come from several different sources. Best.
Q: I pressed the power button and in the process I think I accidently pressed the button that controlled the cable box, so the box went off instead of the TV, then I turned the TV off, I turned it back on, and it wouldn't work anymore, all I see is static, if someone knows what is wrong, PLEASE help me out.
Ok the BEST way to re-sync everything is by walking up to your Cable box, turn it on manually, then turn your TV on too Then get your TV's remote, and set your TV's channel to channel 3 OR set it to the video input you were using. You should have a picture, and sound from your cable box. Now you can go back to using your Cable box's remote.
