- Q:I've lost the power cable (and other regular connection cables) for my Dell computer but have some from another computer (but don't know the make of them). This might be a stupid question but..can I use these for my Dell computer or do they need to be Dell cables?
- yes there all the same
- Q:The power cord will not be inside the wall, it will be through a sheet of drywall then in a closet that is under my stairs, at no time will the power cord be inside of a wall. It will just be behind the wall and in a closet where I will plug it into a surge protector. good to go??

- Q:I recently bought a new internal hard drive for my computer (Hitachi Hds721010cla332, a upgraded version of what I currently have). When trying to install it I found out that the power socket isnt the same as my current hard drive. Ive been searching on the internet but cant find an adapter that converts from my current hard drives power cable to the new hard drives required power cable.

- Q:I need a low profile extention to the exsiting power cable so it can run along the skirting to the mains socket.I was thinking of joining flex wire to the existing cable, wrapping the 3 cores with heatshrink, and then wrapping the whole thing with white insulation tape. the guy from maplin told me I could do this but then I''ve heard that this is a bad idea (and probably against UK safety regulations).
- What I would do is make an extension up and just plug the heater into that. When you don't use the heater anymore use the extension for something else. Normally you need a Janus plug a normal plug and 2.5mm^2 three core flex. You can solder the wires and heat shrink it, just make sure the solder join is done well. If you just twist it together it might heat up and burn.
- Q:I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?
- 1 gauge to the d-block, 4 to the amps/caps.
- Q:i just bought a cobra radar detector and im a bit of a perfectionist. it bothers me that the power supply cable drags from the windshield across the head unit and into the cigarette lighter. i need ideas on how to hook up the detector because it needs to be plugged in to work but not have the cord out in the open. thanks
- Mount the detector on your sunvisor. Run the power cord fromt eh detector under the edge of the headliner and down the A-pillar next to the windshield (you should be able to remove the plastic over the A-pillar and run the cord behind it.) Cut the cigarette lighter plug off and wire it into the fuse panel to a switched 12v source (something that comes on when the car is cranked)(radio, etc). That will allow the radar detector to power on when the car is cranked and to power off when the car is stopped. I wired all of mine like this and never had any problems with any of them.
- Q:theres a red wire, black and yellow. i turned the power supply to the shower off at the main switch board. but when cutting through the cables to repair it it nocked off another switch on the switch board even though the shower is on its own circuit. does this mean there is still power in the wires and is there any power in the yellow wire (earth). witch is the live wire red or black?
- Power near shower or to? You have 220 power and both the red and black are live (will deliver 110 to earth.)
- Q:i bought a car from some guy..he had 2 amps but he took out one...he had the power cable running from one amp to the other. i just recently bought another amp and i was wondering if its safe to do this.he said it was working fine..he was powering 2 10 subwoofers..thats what im planning to do
- its safe but its better to run 2 separate wires due to you are wanting to use more power and one wire has a max load that it can handle...you run 2 and you will have more power to each amp
- Q:I have a 240 watt jbl subwoofer in my truck and a 200 watt kenwood amp i bought a kit of 550 watts. But i just bought a 900 watt visonik subwoofer and a 700 watt visonik amp. i need to know if i can use the 550 watt power, ground, rca cables for my new system?
- No, you don't have enough power, but you can sure as hell try.
- Q:When talking about power supply's, what is Modular Cabling?
- Old power supplies had all the cables branching out like a rat's nest. Newer PSUs with modular cabling let you pick which cables you want, instead of having them all stuffed in there and not using some.
