Q:I ordered basic digital cable from my local cable company (Comcast). I was just wondering when they come out to install it, how will they limit my channels to just the ones in the basic package? Do they handle this at the head-end, or is it done at the junction box outside my apartment? Do they install some kind of filter on the line? And if so do you suppose the installer comes out with other filters in his truck? Just curious, of course.: the installer doesnt block anything comcast does the block whatever channels you didnt sign up for

Perhaps your can get a universal remote to work with your monitor.

Q:I usually get 1 basic cable HBO channel in my apartment which was just HBO the regular channel. Now it got switched over to something stupid called HBO comedy and I don't get any of the shows I want to watch. Who controls switching this over? My landlord or Comcast for this?: I don't think your landlord would have anything to do with that. I think HBO would be responsible for switching that channel not your landlord or comcast.

Q:i have a 1988 johnson and would like to replace with 2006 mercury.: In most cases at a minimum you will need new control cables , and in all cases new electrical cable. That leaves the shifter itself. Depending on the boat manufacturer, you might have a Morse shifter, so you can use that. But if you have a OMC shift box, just get the merc. one.

Q:I have a big fancy HDTV, but i don't know how to make the controller control my cable. I have comcat, and I have to grab the little comcast cable remote to change the channels. The tv remote changes the physical tv channels, but it needs to stay on 3 to play cable so it doesn't help. My dad has his tv set so the remote changes the volume of the tv with his remote but when you hit the channel button it changes the cable, so that's the setup I would like. ps: if you actually read this whole paragraph, put a 1 at the end of your answer.: You are better off programming the cable remote for your TV. Most cable remotes are programmable. TV remotes are rarely programmable. If you insist on programming the TV remote, consult its user manual. It will have programming instructions and a code list, if it is programmable.

Q:i put my turbo 400 transmission in my car and forgot to connect the kickdown cable and i was wondering if its hard to connect it to the transmission itself and if so could i just block off the hole somehow and manualy downshift or would that hurt the transmission: If you have a Turbo 400, there is no cable. It's an electrically controlled trans. This site shows how to do a Pontiac, but the same things need to be done to your Chevy if you don't have all the factory parts. If it's a Turbo 350, it will up shift fine, it just won't down shift without the cable or you doing it manually.

Q:i have cable and its slow and when i call them they ask me what modem i have.so im thinking the modem controls the speed. the bigger modems are faster like 10mb and the little modems are 1.1mb is what im thinking right?: No. You can't up the speed just by the modem, it is configured on the Cable head end.

Q:I just plugged in my HDMI cable and everything is working fine except I don't have any sound. I have a Sanyo TV screen that I have plugged into my PC computer using my new cable. I tried hitting input on my remote so I can switch volume control over to HDMI but instead of showing me a list of things to choose from it changed the channel. I have also tried switching from HDMI-1 to HDMI-2 but that didn't give me sound either. If there is anything you know of to help I would greatly appreciate it!: Most likely a settings issue on the PC - go to Control Panel (or the Speaker icon if you have one on the task bar). Click on Sound (or Right-click on icon) it opens up tabs - Upper left is Playback, be sure HDMI device is Default (green check-mark). Also some PCs' sound can be controlled from a dedicated software package (like Beats Audio on HPs, THX Trusound, etc) and you can do the same thing there. Sometimes even having this set correctly still fails to send sound to the TV- in this case you need to reboot the computer with the TV powered on and HDMI cable connected - what happens occasionally is PC doesn't see the HDMI connections unless it's already there and working when you boot, and in the boot process, when the PC queries all the ports it sees the HDMI and it will then work (I have to do this now and then with mine). Be sure also to choose either HDMI-1 or HDMI-2 based on which one your PC is plugged into - it will say on the TV port you plug into which one it is. Hope this helps - good luck!
