- Q: If i get a slingbox solo, will i be able to control my channels remotely while those at home can watch what they want if we have digital cable and have the slingbox connect to the cable box? I know that if we connect it via direct cable or antenna, it will not work.
- Yes, if you get the Slingbox it own cable box. If you have one cable box, they you and those at home will be limited to the same channel.
- Q: I have one of those cheap Chinese imported mopeds and recently the steel cable that controls the brake detached from the brake handle mechanism. The cable was attached through a small hole near the brake handle. How do I reattach this cable? Again the cable itself is not broken, it has just detached from the hand brake area.
- The knobed end of the cord cable is going interior the topside swivel setting up on the lever. look at lefthand edge lever for clues. you would be wanting too loosen the cable on the brake end to furnish greater slack to reattach the cable to the lever. sturdy success!
- Q: I just bought a digital cable filter from OKorder and it's saying that I could block the signal from my cable box from going to my cable service provider and i should be able to order PPV movies and get PPV channels, and was given a print out on how to reset my box after I order these movies so I won't be charged, honestly I should of researched this before I bought it, but it was only $12 bucks to get it so I'm not going broke over it but wanted to know if anybody have tried this digital filter and is it legit?
- They are a scam--- What they CLAIM is that they will block the return path to the cable company so the cable company will not know what was ordered. This worked?? when the PPV box simply turned on with the remote control unit and later sent the info to the cable system. Now, MOST systems with digital cable, the cable box needs to talk to the cable company's computer before you even order the movie. The cable box talks to the billing computer via the return path and then if the account is fine it activates your cable box and you get the already billed for movie. If you block the return path with the filter this doesn't work. NO PPV movie.
- Q: I have a 01 expedition and the cruise control does not engagefuse is good. Any ideas on what it could be?
- If nothing happens either the switch is bad or the control module for the cruise is bad, hard to say which one, some units are vacuum actuated so see if you have any vacuum leaks of the hose fell off the unit, the unit itself will usually be mounted on the firewall and be linked to the throttle cable. Best thing to do would be to get it to a s hop if you are not good with electrical, if you are start probing at the switch to see if you have power and then check if the control unit is getting power.
- Q: Even when I don't have the heater turned on or when I have the air conditioning on, as soon as I turn the control to heat, it makes a thumping sound behind the controller. The air conditioning works, but the heater just blows out cold air. Does anyone know what the problem is?
- starting with the heater control sound there are various boxes that are vacuum driven and when switching the positions etc the vacuum closes them and opens them. these use gates or doors. now on to heater non operation there is a valve in the engine compartment that has heater lines going to it. this valve also has a cable and often a vacuum line. the purpose of this valve is to regulate how much hot coolant passes into the heater system. the cable works like your kitchen faucet slowly opening a passage either fast or slowly. this part is called the heater control valve. it likely has frozen inside and not allowing water to flow. ps you might wish to go to an autoparts store and see what it looks like for your car so you can locate it. it is on the passenger side of the engine area.
- Q: I need to find out the advantages and disadvantages of overhead and underground cables please? The comparisons? Help would be appreciated
- Underground cables are expensive. It is expensive to dig, and if you ever have to repair them, you have to dig up the whole section to find the break, etc. There is concern that living too near overhead power cables (don't know about telephone or cable TV), can cause health problems. Now-a-days, you often have to do underground cables in city neighborhoods, but your higher power lines (like 345 KiloVolt lines) tend to be overhead cables strung across areas that aren't too near to houses. The buried local neighborhood lines aren't typically buried because the power company wants to; they are buried because the city mandates it. In the country - isolated farm houses here and there, underground lines just aren't pratical. In cities, sometimes you can put the power lines through say some underground tunnels (like sewers - though not necessarily the sewers themselves). If the tunnels already exist, it may be only slightly more costly to put the power lines there, and really shouldn't cost more to maintain than overhead lines (as the lines are accessible to the crews - no digging in most cases).
- Q: But i have to have my tivo box channels set to BOX to get a good picture but i get bad sound. When i have my tivo box set the channels to CBL i get bad picture but good sound how can i get both good picturre and sound going only through my tivo box? When i am on the box channel i have to crank up the volume.
- Check your cable box's own volume control. It's probably turned way down. If you don't know how to adjust that, call your cable company.
- Q: i have a 2002 for escape which is stuck in reverse.I went to put it in park this morning and it is still reading as if it were in reverse but the keys are able to come out of the ignition which is making me think that the column shifter is reading in park but the transmission is not any one else have this problem or know how to fix it?
- Check the control cable at both ends and their attaching brackets.
- Q: What is the purpose of the control cable?
- Hello, you can use the TV box of the TV, the request is not very high. Only need to connect with the TV box can be, such as the TV box only HDMI interface, no TV HDMI interface, so that you can not even open to move to move both. The TV box is equivalent to a TV / video resource that can be accessed online, and the function of the TV is simply to cast the resource onto the screen.
- Q: I have a television in my bedroom but no cable plug. The room next door has a cable outlet and no tv. Is there any way I could get cable on the one television without running any wires? Price is really unimportant to me right now. Thanks in advanced for your help.
- the simplest thing you can do is run a splitter into that room, you'll spend about $10 on everything you need. also, if you have a HDTV you can get free high definition channels that are broadcasted for free with a regular antenna if you have one of the old tv's, you can buy one of those converter boxes now for the expensive solution, buy a TV card for your computer, hook up your cable box to it and make sure everything works, then through Windows Media Center you can share movies/videos/pictures and TV to any other computer in the house (though your wireless signal in your house), which will also require you to connect a computer to the other TV in that room, hopefully being a HDTV with a VGA input for your computer it's going to be expensive, and use more power as you will have to keep the computers on all the time to have the TV always on easiest thing is to just buy a splitter and run the wires to that room. hope that helps, its long because there really isn't a simple solution.
