- Q: When I turn on my pump for the pool water-fountain it will run for 30 seconds or 4 minutes or anywhere in between then it just shuts off. I push the remote on button on again and it runs for a few seconds. Sometimes it will run for a while longer but mostly short durations. Thanks in advance for your help.
- For it to cycle it fairly is maximum possibly a overheat thermostat change someplace on the motor. A fuse would not reset itself. Are you particular the pump is circulating water. If water isn't flowing and motor is on motor can particularly overheat. have you ever tried priming the pump; the pump can no longer artwork if there is air in the pump or pump intake line (pour water down the pump to do away with air)
- Q: Can I put in fluid and drive to the Service Station or should I have it towed? The fluid flows out as fast as I put it in. Thanks!
- If your water pump is blown you should have it towed to a mechanic that you prefer to do the work, because it will need replaced. Don't drive it there because the belt that runs the water pump also runs the pumps that allow your brakes and steering to operate. I just had this happen to me and did exactly that.
- Q: my water pump has gone south on me and I want to repair it myself any ideas on how to will be greatly appreciated, do to space between the water pump of the engine and the chasi or body of the van that makes working on thi vehicle kind of difficult any knoledgeable instruction will be welcome. thanks for the help. - Q: I have a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird LE. It has 4 cyl. and it has 98,000+ miles on it. I took it in to get the oil changed and they inspected the car for a noise it was making. Found out the water pump was gone and the timing belt was worn. Need replacement on both. They quoted me 670.00 for the repair! STEEP! The part should cost about 20.00 max. How do I replace the water pump myself? And the timing belt? Do I need special tools? If I can't do it pretty easily myself, how much should I pay for the repair? I'm not made of money, but I need my car to run to get me to work everyday! I can't afford much, so anything around 200-300 is probably the most I can spend on the repair. What should I do?
- On okorder , your timing belt with cost $15.99 and your water pump will cost $35.19 for a new one. Keep in mind that most shops charge more than that as this is how they make a profit. Depending on what their labor charge is, that doesn't sound too far out of line. I just did a timing belt and water pump on a Chrylser with a 3.5 today and it cost about $600 to do that. The water pump on your car is driven by the timing belt and is not an easy task to accomplish if you have no idea what you are doing. You can easily destroy this engine. If you are not sure how to replace an air filter, this would definately be out of range.
- Q: model # gg9002b serial # 65x626092 what year is it and what is the water pump number

- Drive a smaller size 12 point socket onto it.
- Q: All of a sudden I have no water coming to the house/anywhere from the pump/well outside. It's a newer well, good water quantity (Florida...no dry up problems), no sand in water. I'm new to this house and don't know much about the pump stuff. Is there something I should look at or switch on/off. The breaker is ok. Help, I need a shower! :) Oh, there were about 15 ants around some box, but it didn't look connected to the pump...it's a box to the pool filter thing.
- If you are sure you have power to the unit, go to the pressure tank. There should be a pressure control switch with wires going in and out. It may have a reset switch that you can try to reset. You usually have to hold the switch for several seconds for the water pressure to build up past 20 pounds before you release the switch. You can tell if this is working by hearing water flow thru your pipes and/or watching the pressure gauge on the unit.
- Q: My car is 3 years old and it only has 18,000 miles on it and I just got it back from the repair shop at the dealership because the water pump broke. They replaced the water pump and something else that was recalled. But I looked online and found water pumps should last a long time. What might have happened to it, and what would cause it to break?
- There may be a few answers, one may be the bearings went or have worn out. However with only 18,000 mi. it hardly seams likely. Another is when the water or coolant does not have enough anti-freeze, not only for the winter time but also for the summer time. From freezing the pump to warping the parts in the pump when over heating.
- Q: Hi,My problem is of this automatic water pump ,it is disrupt always I don't no why..I also want to knew what is the function of the pressure air tank??? The picture is here:
- WHAT does it is disrupt always really MEAN?? OK, that said... pumps such as this work to maintain a pressure with two set points even though the regulator only has one indicated.. The lower set point which as pressure drops, the pump turns on, and the upper set point where when the pressure rises to that point, the pump shuts off. When the pressure drops to the lower set point, it triggers the pump to run. When the pressure rises to the upper set point, the pump turns off. If the set point is 50 pounds, it may turn on at 47 and off at 53, or the window could be smaller and on at 49 and off at 51. The air bladder works as a shock absorber, just as the shocks work in your car to smooth the ride. When the pump turns ON there is a pressure pulse that without the air space, would promptly turn the pump off again. This is called short cycling and will cause your pump to on-off-on-off-on-off rapidly. The solution is to refill the air bladder. People with well pumps instead of city water have this problem frequently as the air bladder loses the bubble and does not work as a spring or shock absorber. I have city water NOW, but I used to use a well (which is still operational if I choose to use it) and I experienced pump short cycling the very first year I bought the house. The thing IS, I was ignorant. I missed the thing about a well and a septic tank that also uses a pump to an above ground drain field. YES. I was STUPID because I had NOT paid attention. NOW, years later, I have learned, the HARD way mind you, how these sanitary systems WORK in real life in RURAL America....
- Q: i have a significant stream of water running out of the coolant return side of the engine under the coolant pipe on a 1997 caravan i will lose a gallon and then it stops until the engine heats up and of course more comes out with expansion
- 1st off, without proper diagnostics you cannot get a proper repair...with that being said... 2nd, I would definately say you have a water pump problem, but all is not lost. Keep 2-3 gallons of water in the back and you'll be fine, 3rd, take it to a repair shop that has the experience necessary to repair your problem. the 3.0 v6's are not easy to work on. To replace the water pump you almost need to take the engine out( at least that would be easier) along with the r/f tire. Best way is to put the vehicle on a lift. My advice...take to a shop. Good luck and hope this helps
